    Just for context: it's about man, riding across the Icelandic highlands in the middle of the country. He's paranoid from all the shades and animals, so he just want to reach the Kiðagil (place near the Mývatn lake, or somewhere here). In the middle ages it was normal, that the local groundsmans met up once a year in Alþing. So they had to ride sometimes across the whole island to arrive at Alþing.

      I am learning Icelandic and Norse and Faroese and all other Germanic languages, so I always memorize as many lyrics as I can find, as the Norse languages are so heavenly, but unfortunately there aren’t many videos teaching them on yt, so I learn a lot from lyrics and from G translate for Icelandic and from the vocab videos that I found on yt, and I am upper intermediate level in Icelandic and Norse at the moment - I almost learned this song, and Skáld also has a version of it, and both versions are awesome!

    Ríðum, ríðum rekum yfir sandinn,
    rennur sól á bak við Arnarfell,
    hér á reiki er margur óhreinn andinn,
    úr því fer að skyggja á jökulsvell;

    Þey þey! þey þey! þaut í holti tófa,
    þurran vill hún blóði væta góm,
    eða líka einhver var að hóa
    undarlega digrum karlaróm;

    rökkrið er að síða á Herðubreið,
    álfadrottning er að beisla gandinn,
    ekki er gott að verða á hennar leið;
