Well thank you for that. To bad lane splitting isn't legal in ALL states. I look forward to them greeting me home everyday also & miss it when they're not here
It is my favorite model Sportster also but sadly not enough people felt the same so it has gone the way of the Do Do Bird never to be revived I'm afraid. The 48 & Custom models sold much better than the 72 did. It'll be interesting to see how the Roadster line does now that they brought that model back. Harley has made a lot of changes to their line ups ending the Dyna line & V Rod line and focusing on the Softail line & M8 engine cruisers. I've heard rumors that the Sportster line will be next to fade away now that they've got the 500 & 750 Street line aimed at the younger & international markets. You can get a nice Softail for only a couple thousand more than the Sportster & I see lots more Lady riders on Softails around town now so I think that's where the bulk of their sales will be. Thanks!
That’s some cool lane splitting, makes me hold my breath a bit, over here in New South Wales Australia lane splittings only been made legal about two years now,and where I live don’t get much of a chance to do it and I’m never in a hurry to get anywhere, that’s what good about being a pensioner I don’t have to be anywhere.Anyway thanks Robert, love that Sportster 72 one nice bike.😃👍
Thank you. If I didn't ride to work I'd have no reason to lane split either but I have to keep working to be able to afford the life style I've become accustom to here in Calif, even with my pension & savings.
I'd say that Pick-up may be in need of a little buffing and the SUV Driver needs to re-take the Drive tests, both written and driving. Well we had a little sunny weather here in the Great Northwest for the whole weekend and a bonus day Monday, I'll get to do some riding myself. Great Show Rod, we have mattress losers here too. RSMF!
I'll have to keep an eye out for him I think he's the same guy that has blocked me before by moving into my lane but not sure. That SUV guy needs to loose his license if he has one. He could've hit the white van that had the green left turn arrow. It's amazing how much furniture ends up on the side of the road here. Thanks
Hope to hear from you soon my Friend. I keep watching your show's, and once in a while one Pop's up that I have not seen. Your friend now on the east coast.
It was a full week of no rain That's only the second time my mirror's been hit. First time was my fault. I leave it a little loose because the grandkids are always walking into it in the garage also. We've got idiots like that guy but they're usually on the other side of town and only out at night. For the size of our town we get a surprisingly number of fatal accidents every night from people speeding & running red lights. I rarely venture out after dark anymore when in my younger days I was a night owl type instead of a homebody. I guess that's what getting older does to you lol
yea I worry about that more than anything else. I see secondary accidents all the time from people not paying attention to brake lights. Thankfully we're allowed to lane split and then you just got to watch for people changing lanes as you're coming up and not seeing you. I've never had anyone open a door on me but now that I said that it might happen lol
Another scary ride through all the Bakersfield traffic on the I-99, Rob! Your wife must be terrified of your ventures into the mayhem every morning! It certainly gives me the Screaming Heeby-Jeebies every time I watch it! ...and then there's always the little hand's fascination with the gas tank cap on each arrival home. Breath in when passing them mirrors....LOL...!Take care, Rob!....😀...😀...😀...!
At times it can be scary if you let it but I've seen worse traffic than ours. IDK why she's fascinated with the gas cap but she is. LOL I need to loose weight to lane split those tight fits
I think so I could swear i saw a little scratch as he pulled away but that's what he gets for coming over as he pulled off. It'll probably just buff out?
Robert, any idea how lucky you are to be riding in March? I live in Western Pennsylvania, and between holes in the pavement and left over cinders (traction in snow), it will be another 2 months til its safe to ride. Boy am I jealous....!!!
When are you going to do some videos of the other bike? Shame it's not been getting much asphalt love. You're Grand Kids sure hang out a lot at your place. Wish my Grandparents had lived that close.
it's not running and I've not had the time to fix it I hope to get her running again this Summer. My son & his kids, our grandkids, are living with us now that he's divorced and got primary custody of the kids. It's works for us all. We get to see the kids all the time and he has our help watching them
Nice to see when they move over for you but some people just arn't nice. The guy in the black SUV was an accident looking for a place to happen. Hopefully it will only be himself he hurts.
Yes it's always nice when they give me a little extra room. IDK if it's because they think I might hit them or if they're just being nice lol People like that SUV driver always seem to be uninjured when they cause accidents while injuring the poor unsuspecting victims We get a lot of that here, mostly unlicensed, uninsured, with past DUI convictions, non citizen type drivers
Some copper slip grease on the back of the brake pads should stop the brake squeal, how many miles have you done on the Sportster, you should have given the footage of the black SUV to your mates downtown, what an idiot he is, running lights could have killed someone, especially a bike rider, all the best Rob
I put the non squeal grease that came with the pads on when I installed them. I guess it either got washed off or doesn't work. I'll have to find the time to remove the pads and use copper slip. I've got about 22-23 k on it now. I put about 5 k a year on it commuting to work. Karma will get that SUV driver eventually. He's lucky he didn't crash with the white van turning left on the green arrow when he ran the red light. Thanks
You are the Lane Splitting King. It's illegal here in Texas. I actually look forward to kids greating you at the end of day. Be safe brother
Well thank you for that. To bad lane splitting isn't legal in ALL states. I look forward to them greeting me home everyday also & miss it when they're not here
72 has always been my favorite Sportster. Wish they’d bring it back. Thanks for sharing...

That guy in the black SUV was an idiot for sure. Ride safe brother!
Yes he was IDK what his problem was but he did have a problem & of course the PD never there when you want them to be
nice week of riding . I guess it's the little risks of splitting with the mirror tap . dude in the explorer was a real Tool hair.

Man, that’s always sketchy when the traffic on the highway comes to a dead stop and have to make sure you don’t get rear ended. Ride safe bro.

Stay safe Rob. You had a few close calls.
Thank you. Yes, always got to be own your game while lane splitting ( or riding in general )
She likes that gas cap that is for sure.
lol I think she thinks it's jewelry or maybe just because it's a shinny skull? NC Stoney suggested I buy her one of her own and I like that idea
looks like that dude got his wheel flare scratched!
I think so I could swear i saw a little scratch as he pulled away but that's what he gets for coming over as he pulled off. It'll probably just buff out?
oh well!...lol
Robert, any idea how lucky you are to be riding in March? I live in Western Pennsylvania, and between holes in the pavement and left over cinders (traction in snow), it will be another 2 months til its safe to ride. Boy am I jealous....!!!
yes I realize everyday just how lucky I am to get to ride practically year round. One of the few nice things about Central Calif
Good on you Rob🖒😎
anyther fun week haha .. Take Care
Thank you yes it was a fun & interesting week of stuff

Way to fit the Harley stereotype
