most of the great female playback singers of indian cinema are very versatile, but Sunidhi is the only one who totally changes the tone/texture of her voice depending on the song/genre. You really would only know its her if you are very used to her voice.
I think the key to her versatility comes from how skilled she is in singing in her falsetto/head voice range. She uses that a lot to tap into different vocal textures. Probably the fact that she wasn't completely immersed in classical training from childhood helped here, because classically trained vocalists are usually taught to never use their false voice.

@@wasabi307 yea, i consider her chest/belting voice as her natural, open voice. I actually think she's an alto who just happens to be blessed with a very controlled and beautiful head voice that she can use to sing romantic numbers when needed.

also, at times, Sunidhis head voice reminds me of Mariah in the early 90s... songs like always be my baby.. she has that whispery, floating quality.
Wow! I couldn’t agree more with the two of you! I am not musically trained to be as articulate, but I love that her she never ‘holds back’ and every song feels very real and coming from the heart. I feel the same way with KK and Mohit Chauhan amongst the male singers.

One of my favourite Sunidhi songs is so criminally underrated that not only is it not here but I doubt if many people here know of it.
It is called Sava Dollar from the movie Aiyaa. Rani's Lavani performance in the song, her comical expressions are an absolute joy to watch and they are matched impeccably with the expressions in Sunidhi's singing. The traditional Maharashtrian percussion in the piece is the cherry on the cake. It is an absolute treat to watch.. and listen to(at least to me it is).
And yes please do a Sonu Nigam and one for KK top 100 too.

A little hindi lesson is in order 😂 Jab and Kab both means “when”. The difference is Jab is said when stating a past action example “remember when…” and Kab is used when asking a “when” question. In this case, “Jab Harry Met Sejal” is literally “when harry met sejal” (yes it’s a spin-off of When Harry Met Sally) and Jab We Met literally translates to When we met. Hope this helps 😁
