How has this been working out? I've got a new shop and thinking about running all the pipe all over the place and spending 500 dollars in fittings has me reeling, I'm wondering if this mobile solution has served you well or do you regret it not being stationary for any reason?
Somewhere around 4-6 months after I built this, I bought an Oneida Supercell, also spent something like $500 on ductings--possibly more now that I think about it--and went centralized dust collection. It's not that I didn't like the mobile cart--I had no problem with it. I hated the dust collector that I was using on it. I had considered trying to modify it with an upgraded third-party filter and adding a cyclone to it. But I had a nagging feeling that I'd spend the time and money, still be unhappy with it, and then be out a few hundred bucks on that failed experiment. So I bit the bullet and bought the Supercell. The mobile cart idea works, but I will say that a central dust collector is a nice thing to have. Both options are great in their own way. For me, I'm super happy having the central ducting. It's probably the upgrade I've done that I'm most happy with. Largely because it make moving from one thing to the next faster.
Thanks for getting back to me!
Nice stand that you made. Do you have any specific measurements for the 2 x 4's that you used?
Thanks! The base is 30”x30” and the two side supports are 64” long.
