All these years later and it's still the best neck snapping sit-down ATV and that is literally why they discontinued it because it could snap your neck over certain bumps and shit if you had an accident you're almost guaranteed to get your neck snapped
I would absolutely agree, definitely the best looking over all these new modern SCS....Pilot is so cool, I have a really nice Banshee that I would never get rid of but if I had a chance to get a pilot I would part with the banshee if that was the only way to get the pilot!!!!
Ive worked as a fabricator my entire career. First job was at a drag bike shop in the early nineties. We did a CBR600 conversion on a Pilot around 97. It was fun.
Those RV motors nearly all parts interchange. I made alot of sleepers. With weird combos. Ive had 500 heads machined to fit 670s. Use 340 RV covers. The list is long. Made 93 670s (black head) with X cases and cylonders.
You can use the cheap exhaust wrap (i secure mine with SS safety wire too) and get 3-4 heavy coatings of BBQ grill paint on them. Then it sheds moisture/oil and stays "fresh" For alot longer. Going on 3 years with mine. Spray all the exh before wrapping too. It doesn't flake like other exhaust paints. Good luck, looks like a blast!
Never heard of a Honda Pilot but it kinda looks like the old Honda odysseys, always wanted 1 of them but bought a Honda 200 m 3 wheeler instead , you should put some slicks on the back of it and take that sucker to the drag strip an see what it runs, looks super fast to me 👍🏼
I don't doubt there's room for improvement on it. The down side is the belt can barely handle it. It is still running the stock secondary clutch and pilot belt.
My first atv was a pilot when i turn 20 and i bought it cause my parents wouldn't let me have one when i was younger just to have it stolen by a young neighborhood kid. I miss mine so much. I had a 350x motor on mine.
Nope, he kept it hidden and I had moved. He was too young for me to handle it the way I wanted so I just let it go. I heard he broke his arm and leg later running through the trails with it...Karma
Good shit man! When I was a kid my Dad got me an 83 Odyssey 250 what an absolute torque monster lol LOVED it best ATV EVER! (edit) HOLY SHIT mine didn't rip like that fuckin thing! That's SICK!!!
@@CKPowersports Exactly..! Honda should have kept producing them. Think of what the SxS market would be today if they had. Maybe one day I will build two for my wife and I.
@andrewtreinen837 the pilots do occasionally. Rotax swapped ones aren't near as common. I actually just filmed another video with this that will be posted next week.
Just came here to say a couple things. That's pretty rad. Grind Hard Plumbings is way cooler tho. Also someone needs to build one with an engine out of an Arctic Cat F7 and whoop all the rest.
Grind hard is obviously way better. I'm nowhere near on that level....an f7 engine would be an excellent choice. Fuel injection would be really nice and the design of that engine would allow for a very compact package for this chassis.
How much wider is the Pilot with double wishbone than the Odyssey with the trailing arm and 3 link? Odyssey from what I can find on google is 58 inches to the outsides of the tires.
@Drunken_Hamster the rear is the widest part. On the odyssey they are a little narrower up front than the pilot but basically the same in the rear. They are basically 60in wide in the rear
I ran one just like this when I was about 80 ibs the adults would kick me out scary fast with an 80 ibs kid drifting it around with the throttle pinned all the time
@@CKPowersportsYeah, but how do you keep it cool?! Is it a 5 minute Ride, and cool it? I've seen Mountain Sled's at silver Lake Sand Dunes, they had cooler with ice to cool it down?! 😮😮
All liquid cooled atvs and utvs have a radiator with electric fan. The stock pilot motor is a 400 liquid cooled and uses a radiator. This one does have a bigger radiator than stock though.
I might have missed it, but is that the factory gearbox you're running 100+ HP through? That's what I thought I heard, just need to confirm. Because if so, thanks for guinea pigging that. Report back on how it holds up please.
Yes it is. The weak point is the belt on it. It's still the stock secondary clutch and belt. It's pretty easy to blow a belt on it if you get too crazy with it.
Need to go with a larger drive clutch and pulley if it's an 11" go up to 11.75 12 if you can find a sled that used that size or do the math but it is way running out of gear to quick and hard in the engine

I think honda would of had more lawsuits with that than they did on three wheelers
Hook up a tow hitch and maje it so it can pull a Cart/wagon like an atv/utv can pull an this thing will get chores done around the house!
That would probably make the power more useful
