I think it's Brighton that have several small fishing boats on the shore. I always know when I draw close to them. It's the less than subtle small of those nets. Having said that, I've always wanted to go out for a shift on one of those, just for the experience. I too love to see them come and go, and in particular the return journey when, somehow the gulls seem to know all the offcuts get discarded over the stern. I like this painting. Seeing boats large and small, some powered, and others under sail always held a fascination from me from when I was very little. And what you've created here is an image the defines the last boat coming home for another day. Which in turn would indicate that time is getting on, and the chip shop calls to my hungry tummy. That got expensive with my wife and 5 nippers all needed something to eat before bed. What clearly define the painting for me is the long shadow, blending seamlessly together that gives it credibility. Great stuff. TTFN.

Brilliantly explained Lois how you've planned for creating a fantastic seascape scene with fishing boat, thanks greatly for sharing your inspirational talent again with minimum colours leaving detail depth and colours throughout your painting. Thanks stay safe and healthy

Really like your art. Would you ever consider showing your palette and color mixing? It adds so much to the presentation (for me). Nonetheless, very nice work :)

ok, another question or rather request. as for some superficial reason, I would like to hang two paintings in my living room in portrait format (sorry for my bad english). do you have any suggestions or could you please show some landscapes (loose or abstract - doesn't matter) in portrait instead of landscape (it feels funny, to use the same word twice in a sentance plus meaning something else each time :-D)

Hi Lois. Do you recommend a particular brand and size of the Hake brush. I see on this video you have used it. Thank you.

I wonder, what made the difference in this painting to use the english-venezian-red instead of e.g. burnt sienna? My e-v-red is from schmincke and it is marked as opaque. does this has to do with it? my burnt sienna is from rembrandt, and it looks quite close to e-v-red. only when it is mixed with raw sienna the two mixes look slightly different. but I only made swatches (yet). and as I am rather afraid to try something new immediately by myself (:-D) I wonder and rather ask ;-)
