The new Frederique Constant Classic Tourbillon Manufacture honors the finest traditions of watchmaking art right down to the very last detail. The case is made from 18 carat rose gold, a precious metal that has always been reserved solely for Manufacture limited editions. This model will be no exception: just 150 watches will be made, each one individually numbered. Previously offered in a 42 mm diameter, all Classic Manufacture timepieces will now be housed in a 39 mm case in a new style featuring modern, harmonious curves, for maximum comfort on the wrist.
Today, the Frederique Constant manufacture boasts a high degree of integration, with no fewer than 30 calibers developed in-house. We do show them all in the our video. One of these is its tourbillon, fitted with a silicon escapement wheel and anchor. This design choice allows owners to benefit from a non-magnetic movement unaffected by variations in temperature, thus helping to ensure the watch stays accurate, in keeping with the original vocation of the tourbillon.
Since its creation, Frederique Constant has capitalised on the expertise of its Geneva-based manufacture. It’s here, in the birthplace of watchmaking, that the Frederique Constant Worldtimer FC-718 calibre was designed, produced and assembled. It has become a movement of its time: modern, precise and reliable, not to mention tried and tested. Being featured at the forefront of the Highlife collection is a first and represents a major turning point for the Brand. The self-winding FC-718 mechanical movement has a power reserve of 38 hours. It is visible through the case back, water-resistant up to 50 metres. One can admire the typical Genevan finishes that Frederique Constant is so fond of, perlage and circular Côtes de Genève among them.
The Highlife Gents models have a 41 mm case, available in various materials. The lack of horns allows for greater flexibility and helps the watch sit naturally on the wrist. The integrated design is infinitely more complicated to conceive than any strap with horns. The process requires perfect continuity between the lines of the case and the links, a smooth, regular but gradual transition to the clasp and natural fluidity that should be almost imperceptible.

No doubt you'll get the FC are junk comments from the usual watch snobs because they make cheap watches as well as their own in-house stuff. I have one of their slimline manufacturer watches with the small date dials and it's a stunning watch, keeps great time and is very well made.

Their price advantage due to light distribution model in comparison with boutique led model by other brands. They need to bring in house movement to the daily models - then they will play in the Tudor, Grand Seiko, IWC segment easily

The Alpina Alpiner actually looks really good, not gonna lie. Impressed. If any Big Brand came out with the same design it would be an instant runner.

The Alpiner Extreme is a gorgeous looking watch, similar bracelet to Zenith Defy, but thinner and lighter gauge, I think. The case is beautifully executed, nice symmetry and gorgeous blue dial with homage to AP Royal Oak, but with it’s own clever Alpina logo, and on the bezel and crown as well.

The in-house calibres that FC does are incredible. The tourbillon is gorgeous. I'm still impressed most by their monolithic silicon oscillating movement, 100% one of the most innovative brands for watchmaking, very underrated.

FC is really pushing the standards in the watch world. They're perpetual calendar is crazy. I am excited to see what they do with Alpina. A few years ago they bought the e-strap and haven't used it since. I hope they are still working on it because that is a game changer

I would love to know who was trying to keep them out of the show. Anyways glad they made it, also great to hear they're going to start using LJP movements as well, I know I prefer them to any other big name off the shelf movement makers. I'm a huge Citizen fan so I'll bee looking for what they are doing.

In December of last year, I was at a jeweller looking at a few watches. I had a Frederique Constant and a Maurice Lacroix in my hands and I was thinking to myself: "Just a little bit more and you are up there with much higher brands." The cases, dials, everything, perfect. On at least the level of Rolex, IWC and Co. Movements, yeah, coming close ;)
I own 7 FC watches and one ML, plus three Rolexes, and agree with you. Rolex is overpriced and FC is vastly underrated....ML masterpiece watches are amazing

FC is unfortunately regarded as a high quality brand. Just a newly made up company with no history, heritage, or USP. Few years back I saw one with unfinished work on the dial!!! Will NEVER buy one. There are so many other in the market, with better pricing, technology, heritage.

@@WatchAdvisor I edited my comment, had missed some words! As I mention, there were unfinished metal workings on the dial. The minute I saw it in the shop, I wanted to run away. Will never buy FC. Fake brand with questionable abilities.
