THE Man, THE Legend-Classic, Eternal, Immortal is MR. GEORGE TAKEI! I am one of his greatest admirers, a retiree from academe of African descent, born in America. Thank you all very much.
I’m a black woman saying this: All of our races have horrible histories to bare unfortunately, that they were at the hands of our own brothers make them more despicable. Yes, one race may have endured longer; does it matter if your family is involved? We must pick each other up, give each other a hand and bring one another along. Thank you Mr. Takei for your story. I never knew what you endured. 💖
80 years young and has maintained that magnificent speaking voice! He could read from the dictionary, names from an old phonebook, or the contents of an Italian menu and he'd hold your attention!
What an icon. The treatment of Asians and Asian Americans during wartime was truly despicable, but that helped to create a more determined and passionate soul. Truly an inspiration, and not only to Asian-Americans! We need to listen to people like him more.
I had the pleasure of hearing you speak about the grievous representation of Asian-Americans during the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Thank you so much for your upstanding work and empowering words of encouragement for the Asian-American community. Most of all, thank you for your love of your work. The world's arts are better off because of your dedication.
Mr. Takei's experience and his ability to rise above from what has been part of his story needs to be shared. It is for people like him gives us faces and strength to come forth. The diversity of this country makes us the most valuable. We learn by doing and being part of it. Best to share that light with others because it really enriches who we are. Passing it on and share it.
Thank you for making this beautiful video. I am so inspired by George Takei. I am sure that many young people do not know about the prison camps Japanese "Americans" were put in during the Second World War. I want to thank my father and mother for giving me this life.
I'm so moved by George 's story about his camp experience. I wish Hollywood make a movie about the camp with Asian American cast. I think after "Rich Asian" we can definitely produce another epic picture with incredible story and retell the hardship/discriminations that Asian Americans experience during that time, just all Asian Americans cast. There are so many stories about WWII but no story about the AA experiences of the camp, the dramas, the round-up, the terrors, the fears. I met a couple of young ppl lately and they are so delusional about the camp. Their perceptions of camp is fun and enjoyable place to live in, and Asian Americans didn't seal with hardship as they were portrait. That sadden me cause they had no clue of what discriminations do to you and your ppl. let's make a movie about round up to camp and camp. Let's the next generation learn what had discrimination did.
Super bummed that I just discovered this channel this week in 2017. I wish that I knew about this channel and CAPE I am...movement sooner. So inspirational! I love it.
damn.....that's why he looks really familiar....he worked with Lea Salonga.....witch is a legend singer here in the Philippines....really respectable man...
Quite a beautiful. But few most experienced actor and human being that ever for now in this existence can ooze success. His wisdom to all irregardless of race is an example of role model
I'm truly sorry that our Democracy failed you. That anger or ignorance did not take root. Your word's are true and above all they are correct. I envy you your Father's conveyance to you of his wisdom. He shaped a good man who became Great...
started with Ki Hong Lee in Master of the House to his interview here in Cape and clicked this because of Lea Salonga...actually don't know him but seems like he is a great and respectable man..
He was great in that Star Trek episode where he went nuts and ran around with a sword....Another notable sci-fi scene was when an Asian guy in one of the Predator films went up against a Predator with a samurai sword and killed it..:)
George, God Bless you and yours ! Thank you for participating in this project and your insights. I'm one generation younger. And I began a fan on Trek. I'm glad you worked on "Ba-Ba Black Sheep" to Hero's and beyond. I remember meeting you in person at a 'Salt Con' in SLC, UT in '75 ? :-) I was sorry to hear of your stay in the "Internment Camps". A sad time in USA history, one of many, but I support keeping things in context. It was a tough time. How were Whites treated in Japan or China, at the time ? McCarthy in the 50's was a tough time also as was the Vietnam war and Global Nuclear Destruction, which I grew up in, in the 60's to 80's+. We may agree to disagree, but you are quite charming :-) Thank you for coming to Seattle's Gay Pride Parade a few years ago, and for all your efforts in that part of your life.
Hey! How about I am a scientist with the great Canadian David Suzuki?! Phd in genetics, activist for the enviroment and long time host of the CBC-TV show The Nature of Things. And just turned eighty like George Takei there!
George, I suspect you never got an apology? of course not. Canada was not much better, they interned and dispossessed Japanese Canadians, which is just terrible.

Imagine if he narrates a book (in audio form)... that would be great/cool...
You've put it so well. His voice, his diction; that voice is a voice of comfort and non-judgement, full of grace.
