  • LEH: With disengagement at the north and south banks of Pangong Tso completed, the Corps Commanders of India and China began the 10th round of talks earlier today to discuss other friction areas. The disengagement came nine months after the Chinese aggression along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Although India was surprised in the beginning, it quickly got its act together and matched the Chinese deployment. In this episode of ‘Simply Nitin’, StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale describes the key takeaways for India since the standoff began in May last year.

Also, the latest intrusions by PLA in the Lower Dibang valley and our subsequent infrastructure lapses. This will put focus on infra and maybe speed up the infra works on the ground !

Nitin, I am a very old soldier who has lived as a Major at Bomdila, Sela and Nuranang in 1965-66 and again in 1976.
What we do to keep fit need not be 'taught' to the Chinese through our presentations such as this. These things were learnt by us by trial and error in our time. Then (65-66 ) the concept of acclamatizarion hadn't even been thought of. I came back from an Army course at Mhow and next day from the rail head got into a truck to take me to 15000 feet directly. For next six seven days, just moving around would get me out of breath. We paid the price to learn to exist there.
Let the Chinese too learn the hard way after they pay their price.
Your presentation was good. Please keep in view what I said if you feel convinced enough. Thanks.

The Chinese move was preplanned. I feel it was the work of some middle level commanders who wanted to boost their career. The plan was based on their past experiences. So these planners are to be found in middle level officers who have been serving in the area in the past. Transfers, heads rolling may shed some light who planned this adventure. Despite innumerable meetings Shi failed to assess Modi correctly. The mistake is due to the Chinese national character of looking down on all non Chinese cultures with contempt .
I also think the same mistake was responsible for the farmers agitation. The Chinese should get adjusted to resolve, patience and statesmanship.

Big difference was that India had experience of fighting and camping in those harsh conditions (courtesy of having Pakistan as a neighbor).
Chinese soldiers haven’t been battle hardened and it’s definitely possible that they got mentally exhausted.
BUT this is the kind of experience they need few times. So let’s not underestimate them. They will do that few more times, eventually either learn to train their soldiers for such condition or will come up with technologies to supplement their soldier’s shortcomings.
They are not fools. Next time they will be more prepared.
That’s the problem of being a defensive player. We have to wait 365 days a year for Chinese to make incursions. They only have to try and encroach only when they feel like. Eventually they will build enough expertise to be successful in such incursions.
So we have bought some time. It’s very important to use this time to develop infrastructure and economy FAST.
Take it for granted that they will try it again and will improve in their approach everytime they try.
Only when we become a bigger economic and military power than China, we can do the same (try encroaching on their territory).... unfortunately we are several decades behind China.
But while Chinese wait and adapt, use that time to reduce the gap in infrastructure and technology.

    • @kshitiz06
      @kshitiz06 3 роки тому

@Metallus Zorax Kargil was a war like effort. So there are pilots and soldiers currently in Indian Air Force and army that have actually fought in a real battle.
Experience is also needed in area of logistics. India has been manning siachen glacier for several years and knows what kind of training is needed for soldiers to acclimate to such environments.
But yeah, since Kargil there hasn’t been much action. But as I said, experience is not just shooting bullets .... it’s about logistics, planning etc for a real battle, which China has none .... and Pakistan has literally lost every time it has been in a battle that lasted more than a day.

    cool story bro . . .
I also have a story for you, inside stuff and you can use your resources to check it out. Here is the story the Chinese are telling you with their video, that does not make sense to you, because obviously your brave military and their version that may never be questioned.
The Video first shows, Indian tents being setup and being confronted by unarmed Chinese troops. Then you see a large number of Indian troops in riot gear with shields and sticks crossing the river and once again being confronted by unarmed Chinese troops with out even helmets. These soldiers are badly outnumbered and beaten by Indians and these are the 4 deaths. Indian military always at its best when outnumbering unarmed people.
You then see the night sequence where the Chinese reinforcements arrive for a revenge raid. There are no causalities here on the Chinese side. Your Brave hearts left their dead and wounded and ran all the way back to Mohdi's bosom.
The last sequence you see is the day light sequence, is the injured colonel who was out numbered and beaten by your so called soldiers during the negotiations that morning.
Here is the true magnitude of your shame.

India should develop these areas for tourism like the NE.

I would suggest 1.a permanent large military base be stationed in Ladakh 2.the long border from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh be monitored by drones constantly, 3. Maintain and establish more mountain posts as possible all along the Tibet border, 4. Stop all trade and investments with china until and unless every kilometer of the Tibet border is finalised.5. Develop nuclear missiles that can strike all parts of china from land, sea n air.

You can say India didn't budge so Chinese are de-escalating at borders, BUT I would say "They want to do, So does"...this is going to be a temporary one, As China facing increased Pressure on South China sea, and Taiwan issue with US, it decided to
" De-escalat" at Himalayan border. What India need to do?? If India feel " Ohh the Hell is gone let's take a break" that's not going to help. India needs A CALCULATED OFFENSIVE strategy, where right from now we need to ADAPT same CHINESE PLAY BOOK. Occupy border areas and give China pressure simultaneously when China is under pressure from US and bring China to the negotiating table...

The Indian Armed Forces destroyed the Exaggerated invincibility myth of the Chinese soldier at Nathu La in 1967. Thankyou Gen Sagat the Grinders, Gunners & Sappers. This destruction was completed in detail when the Vietnamese gave them a bloody nose in 1968. I remember studying that for my promotion exam. Our MEA were the timid lot who would willingly accept chinese "slaps"" admonishments and kicks and continue to bray " hindi chini bhai bhai"( worth reading Arun Shourie). Fortunately we now have JAISHANKER as Foreign Minister . A hawk who will not take any nonsense from anyone. As a soldier I admire the Border Roads, locals , Air Force, The Q staff , Medical and ofcourse the frontliners. My unit was there around Maj Shaitan Singh's resting place. You have the best understanding of logistics in the media. I also found you to be an intuitively strategic thinker from the interview by Jyoti Malhotra (PRINT). Other than reminding India that it better not spend too much on its Navy (as part of the QUAD), China's objective was to humiliate Modi as you had intuitively figured out. China (and the general public) have a fascination for Sun Tzu based theatre (soldiers brandishing machete on top of sticks) and that kind of thinking might have led to the attack.

Nitin talked garbage on Chinese soldiers. China has shown ten times the demobilization capability compared to Indian side so they could come back 10x faster if India armed forces try to play dirty tricks again. Nitin forgets to mention that it was Indian side that started the adventurous uncalculated attack to the Chinese side by the infamous Colonel B Santosh Babu who just arrived 2 days ago at the border. The result? He and 2 soldiers were killed and 17 Indian soldiers jumped into the freezing river then died of freezing cold temperatures ( Indian side didn't have the hospital or helicopter). 10 more Indian soldiers were captured and were returned the next day. PM Modi admitted that the Chinese side didn't cross the border. Indian media immediately declared that the Chinese side lost twice as many soldiers because the Chinese kept silent. Last week the Chinese Ministry of Defense released the video of the clash at Galwan valley on 15th June 2020 and declared the loss of 4 soldiers. India should learn from the Chinese to keep the clash low key and not blew it up out of proportion. Apparently Indian media didn't find it embarrassing that the attack was led by a stupid Colonel who just wanted to show off but lost his life and 19 other soldiers.

China’s goal is to prohibit Indian troops from crossing the line claimed by China in 1959. India wants to restore the situation of April 2020, when Indian troop could still do the patrolling. The result of this conflict and 10 rounds of negotiations is, Indian troops stay west of the Chinese 1959 line, no more patrol across the line. So you tell me what Indian has gained and what Chinese had lost?

The Chinese army and CCP basically wanted to gain something without losing anything. They were first of all shocked by the loss of 45 or more of their soldiers in the Galwan Valley clash. Secondly, they were not planning to stay at these high altitudes right through the winter and probably lost more of their soldiers to altitude sickness and hypothermia.
Moreover, their supply lines were stretched over several thousand km from mainland China to Ladakh.
The cost in terms of life and treasury were probably way beyond what they anticipated.
The lesson for India I guess is to make the cost of adventurism very very high for our enemies such that they will think many many times before attempting to grab Indian territory.

Massive to confirm not a single casualty due to weather or health. Shows how robust our mens at borders are. At the same time, I heard Chinese kept rotating troops daily as they were not able to cope with the weather.

Yes, armed forces has made India proud but it seems China will certainly bounce back so India need to be very proactive at northern front of country.

The biggest gain will be in terms of the time that India will get to establish permanent supportive Infrastructure all along the LAC. as also upgrading of weapons platforms in terms of future Hi tech non contact warfare. This may also force the Pak army to give up any thought of a Misadventure with India - at least in the near future.

Thank you Nitinji for the wonderful video that summarizes the hard work of our Armed Forces during these months. Hats off to them, as always, for rising to the occasion. There are no words that can describe my sincere gratitude 🙏.
I have always appreciated your videos, your knowledge of the developments happening are appreciated. Please take this to be a humble sign of gratitude for all that you have done. 🙏
As a sidenote, I had to slow down the video in order to read the do's and don'ts 😁😁😁 hope someone else does it as well.
At the end, we know this is not the end, but sure is a happy ending, atleast for now as our Armed Forces keep on guarding our frontiers as we all sleep with comfort in the confines of our homes with our loved ones. Jai Hind to you Nitinji and our brave soldiers!
