- Jerry Lawson and Jimmy Hayes of the Persuasions sing "Rainy Night In Georgia" from the documentary "Spread the Word: The Persuasions Sing A Cappella" directed by Fred Parnes.
This dude's bass voice is off the chain!
One of the greatest Lead singers & for sure the best bass singer EVER!! RIP Jimmy Hayes. You will never be forgotten.
The greatest a Capella singers ever
Thanks for posting this treasure. Jerry and Jimmy are so in sync it's like they're reading each other's minds. Beautiful. I'll bet this was recorded with one mic, too, and it sounds fantastic.
RIP Jimmy. Thanks for everything.
Refreshing! They mean the music, so you feel it.
Love them. This is what real talent and musicality looks and sounds like
This is what street corner singers do. I hope is doesn't become a lost art.

@@reginabond4722 one of the greatest instrument is the human voice!
Once Jimmy sat up. It was on!
Amen! He was the greatest!
😂Yes I saw that..
See this makes me just laugh at the so-called singers of today with their auto tunes and sampling. Do you/we really appreciate just how few people could just bust out with something like this on the spur of the moment with no enhancements, let alone no instruments.....
i totally agree with you , so tight .can't be beat i love it
The Persuasions are one of the greatest a capella vocal groups ever. One of my FAVORITES for sure.
Never in my life have I referred to a musical performance as exquisite until now, that was absolutely exquisite.
That's how they started! Jerry and Jimmy singing on the street. Jimmy knew somebody, who knew somebody et cetera. Soon there were the original five, and glory be. What excellent work they did!
Brendan Blaylock Truth. Let's keep the real alive
The greatest singers ever!
His voice and singing, is like magic. It's real music to my ears.👍👍😊❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much. I miss the guys so much. It was nearly 30 years ago we shot that scene and I remember it like it was yesterday!
Sing on Forever Jimmy Hayes...
Just amazing...wow.
They truly are the ambassadors of accapella!
So soulfully phenomenal 🙏🏾
Legends RIP
And the brother in the hat looked a lot like Fred Westley of the JB'S
Que música linda, que voz
Que legal !!!
Does anyone have the whole documentary?
It was never released except on PBS TV
They say Jimmy Hayes looked up to William Bobo. Bobo is all over my page. Bobo could get alot lower than Hayes.
Kendall Kent could he get lower than Melvin Franklin?
Or JD SUMNER?@@roberttaylor6694
