    Great video and your position at start of your downswing using the A swing looked great.

    I really enjoyed your video...The biggest reason I tried the A swing was there were so many days at the range where i had to tweak this or i had to tweak that.....One day you go out and your striping it and the next who knows whats going to happen. I have been doing the A swing for 2 months now and I must honestly say its the most forgiving and consistent swing I have ever had. The only problem I had in the beginning was hitting my driver with the A swing. The length of the club made it a little challenging but after some getting used to it I hit my driver as good as before and usually with a little draw.....My carry distance being 250 to 260 and total of 270 to 280. I am 50 years old and that is plenty of length off any tee to help get around the course quite nicely.
    So I suggest that anyone who is frustrated with their swing and the constant tweaking give this method a try....And please give it a real try. A good solid few days and i think and hopefully you will see some dramatic changes....I did!
    Oh by the way I am about and 11-13 handicapper.before the switch....stay tuned for hopefully single digits!

      Good stuff Don, I'm glad you have found something that works for you. I think it's important to have a system in golf, I personally believe in the Stack & Tilt system to improve my and my clients game. Good luck for the season and keep me posted with your progress. Nick

    Practiced last week with this swing and played in a team comp yesterday. My irons were lovely and pure which was nice. Still need to work on my woods though. Get very blockey or slice it. More work to do, but it's a great swing idea. Any tips on the woods?

      I have to be honest Adam I am not a certified A swing instructor. Without seeing your swing I wouldn't know what to suggest, I take it your slices are push slices so start right of target and curve right?

    • @palmer830
      @palmer830 8 років тому

      +Nick Taylor Golf I think it's because in the driver, I try to hit it harder. When this happens I don't turn my body and sometimes don't get that follow through so it's a block/slice. Working hard on it, and finding the swing really enjoyable with the results just a straight shot.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  8 років тому

      Sounds like it could be an issue with path, the majority of people that slice have issue with the path. If you feel your not turning your body it could also be that you don't have enough weight on the left at impact, causing you to swing across the ball.

    I don't think u had the stance quite right. But Yeh golf is so difficult anyway that seems more simple would help a beginner like me. I mean there is something like ten different parts to a conventional golf swing that u have to have right and in sequence to have a chance of hitting a good shot. its kinda mad really

    I started the A Swing two years ago. I have increased my driving distance & iron distance immensely & I am 65.Every hit seems more solid now whereas before I was scraping the ball with a lot of high & right drives & pull hooks with irons. The main deal is you don’t have to think about your backswing anymore. Very simple!

    I stopped playing 8 years ago with some back problems. Went to range after the Masters and hit first basket of balls for 2yrs. Hit the ball just as well as i used to with my conventional swing but back stiffened up just like before. I came accross the A swing online. The Biomechanics of how the body moves in the back swing made sense so decided to ģive it a go. I picked it up almost straight away and used the V1 app to record and analyse my swing. I definitely recommend not just trying it, bit sticking with it for a few hundred swings to get it ingrained. I found that you dont need to manipulate the club in any way to create the v plane, the club just drops on plane as your weight moves forward. Not only am I stricking the ball better and more constantly than before, but most importantly ive had no back issues at all and loving golf again.

    I switched to the A swing about a month ago. I have balance issues because I have MS. This swing has kept me balanced and my ball striking is greatly improved.
    I credit it mostly to me no longer thinking about a "turn", rather more of the shoulder pull Leadbetter describes.
    Scores dropping because my approach shots are on target way more often. Shorter birdie and par putts.
    One thing: my driving distance has suffered. Not sure why but I've lost 10-20 yards per drive. However all other clubs have gained distance to some degree.
    Overall I'm happy with it. Currently playing to an 11 index.

    the A swing back swing seems more complicated than S+T method seems like you have to really work the the club shaft both ways steep on the way up flat on the down to get the V plane .You're normal single plane S+T back swing seems much simpler. keep up the good work,like to see you test more clubs

    im very impressed that you look at all swing teaching and think they are all good.....one of the things i like about the S&T teachets ive had is they embrace other swings...the thing i hate to hear or see is when i tell an intructor that ive followed stack and tilt and they grimace and say stack and tilt is crap.....i hate that...

    Nick, thanks for the video lesson. I'm sure you will agree, the most difficult part of learning any new swing is breaking old habits. In your swings what I see is that when your hands get waist high, you instantly put the shaft on your normal old swing plane. See pages 100,101,102 of Leadbetter's book for what it should be like. I am trying to adopt this swing and have the same problem,

    Great video this. I’ve come close to walking off the course and selling my clubs lately but I can’t and I won’t as I love the game too much. I’m going to dedicate the next few years to the A Swing as it can’t do any worse than the first few years I’ve played. 18 handicap

    Great video. I've just read his book and hit balls today for the first time. Like you, my first efforts were not nearly as exaggerated on video as they felt during the swing. I hit some fantastic iron shots, but the woods felt very awkward. Wonder if you've given a 3 wood or driver a go and have any thoughts.

    David, himself, says that it isn't necessary to take all parts of the "A" swing but to try it and see what parts might help your game. His idea, I think, is to synchronize the body movements and to improve the consistency of the swing. I once played to a 6-7 handicap but hadn't played more than 4 to 5 rounds per year for 25 years and just returned to playing about once per week but hitting a number of practice balls. I've always had the tendency to steepen the down swing and swing over the top. By turning the torso with the arms kept in contact with the body until the L arm was just short of parallel and keeping the clubhead outside my hands (though not quite as steep or vertical) then hinging AND (this is important and often not mentioned) initiating the downswing while still finishing my backswing, I've shallowed out the swing and hitting over the top is far more infrequent. This swing DOES tend to prevent getting taking the club too far inside the hands and helps synchronize the swing. Using ALL of its parts doesn't quite work for me, however.

    Your "A" swing back swing is fine, you don't need to be totally steep the way you want or the way you show in your video because Leadbetter gives you room for error as long as your at least vertical you're good. Although the "A" swing isn't for everyone I've been a version of the "A" swing for almost 20 years and really like it. To be totally honest Leadbetter didn't invent the "A" swing he just brought it out to the mainstream and started teaching it.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  8 років тому

      I agree, there are a lot of parts I like about the "A" swing. I admire the way Leadbetter has adapted his coaching style, especially the pivot of the body which is completely different from his traditional coaching theory.

    Hi Nick I've just ordered A Swing book but I recall a lesson I had years ago where I was told to swing out away from my body ala a swing and really feel like I was dropping club behind me. So this was to counteract my slice. Really similar but it worked then I hope it works now? More consistency is always better. Although I fear distance will be lost. Have to wait and see? Thanks for video. Bob

    Other than Moe Norman.. who are the straightest players ever on the tour?? Calvin Peete and Jim Furyk..See if you can see some similarities to the A swing with these two. Something to think about! If you start your downswing correctly (with the lower body) the club falls on plane automatically. It takes a lot of the thought out of the backswing which makes the downswing automatic. Most of the greatest players in history have been "accross the line" at the top and make this move to various degrees.. not the least of which is a man named Nicklaus..

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  7 років тому

      I've only seen him Moe Norman balls on UA-cam and my understanding is that he is one of the best ball strikers of all time.
      Golf is played on a tilted angle (lie angle of clubs) it means that the club travels on an arc in relationship to the ground. This makes it very difficult to hit a dead straight golf ball.
      Your right a lot of the best players have different backswings however in my experience good body movement doesn't necessarily mean that the club will fall automatically on plane.
      Like I said it's very difficult to hit a dead straight golf ball, the important thing is that the player knows which direction their ball will start and which way it will curve.

    • @nathanwint2494
      @nathanwint2494 7 років тому

      Agree. I just think a lot of current teaching discourages the club being "across the line" at the top. When you really look at most good players, they are across the line at least a little bit (some way more than others). At least for me, this position at the top allows me to sync my downswing much better. Great ball strikers- Freddy, K Perry, Larry Nelson, Tom Watson.... All day Fairways- Furyk, Calvin P, Ryan Moore.... Greatness- Jack N, Bobby J, Lydia Ko, old Tiger (Butch). Long Knockers- Daly, Bubba. Look at all of these players at the top. Tiger is going back to this right now and seems to be hitting it much better.

    I'm 73 years old. Been using the A Swing since May 2015. Took about a month to rely on it - but it works just fine with all clubs.
    The undercut right hand through impact had me buffaloed for a while as I was initially hitting a lot of pulled shots.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  8 років тому

      Thats good to hear Jim, have you had lessons from a 'A swing' instructor?

    • @jimhunter4999
      @jimhunter4999 8 років тому

      In May 2015, I first heard of the A Swing. Saw a video on UA-cam and was interested. Within a week I was trying it out on the range at my club. Early results were promising. Loaded DL videos on my tablet and used them on the range. Then I got the book which answered some questions and gave me drills. 20 years ago I wax a 10 handicap, so my basics are pretty sound. Today my age affects my flexibility, but the new swing evens the score.
      I don'r know of any A Swing instructors here in Wyoming - heck the Golf Channel didn't recognize it until around February 2016. Average golfers I've played with don't notice the difference.

      Thanks. Getting the left forearm to supinate after impact seems to help, but that is more like the traditional swing.
