Welcome back to our cottage garden. Today we are finally tackling the big greenhouse. It's going to take a few days of work to get it completely up to scratch! As you will see, it needs a bit of tlc. Today we are removing the overgrown agave plants and adding some gravel to tidy things up. We made a good amount of progress, although there are still quite a few jobs to do in there.

Oh! Didn’t know you are into cactus? I think I would’ve cleared out everything (except the huge agave) & then leveled off the floor, topping off with your pea gravel. Then set up wooden potting bench & tables to start seedlings. So many ways you could use your greenhouse. It sounds like you are going to use it as a conservatory?

I would definitely bug bomb all those false widows into oblivion before I set foot in there. The large one looks like the only one worth keeping. I would add more things like palms and monsteras if they wanted it to be a conservatory.

Yes, I love your idea!! I would much prefer potting benches to use. Not a fan of cacti, and especially not a fan of the needles 😳 I’d rather have beautiful herbs and flowers any day! 😊 🌷🪴🌻💐

You did a great job with the clean up, the space is looking great!
Painted/coated concrete is tricky. Since concrete is porous like terracotta, it will absorb moisture from outside and then try to release it in other areas but if it’s painted, the moisture will be trapped behind the paint (particularly latex paint since it’s pretty waterproof) and the moisture will draw minerals out of the concrete too. So you end up with a pealing paint and white chalky/lime like material behind it. This might be what you’re experiencing but I found it a bit hard to tell. Depending on conditions, it can take several years for this if conditions are really wet or a long time if not so wet.
I’m not an expert on this but have seen it several times with the same wall built of cinder block. Hope this helps, you’re doing great 👍

I wonder if the dead plant was an Australian native tall boy or a tree fern!
Also I think for sure it is limewash! If you scrape it back as much as you can- or use an etcher (which might be a bit hard/yuck in a glasshouse!) I reckon you could go straight over.
Also not sure if asbestos is as big of a deal in the UK as it is here in Aus, but I would just make sure it’s not asbestos before breaking more!
Thanks for your videos, you bring so much hope for the opposite season ❤️

I don't know if lime wash is the same as stucco, but that is what it looks like from afar. Good job!!😃🪴🪻🌿

The dead plant looks like an Australian grass tree Xanthorrhoea.
Cool plants but I imagine quite difficult for them to survive where you are.

What a great idea you are doing, your greenhouse could have a table & chair,& storage areas safely, when everything sorted ground level.

Well done. I've been stabbed MANY TIMES by agaves and they are unyielding! They are also referred to here as Century plants(supposedly blooming only every century, but more often here in Santa Barbara California and further south), Maguey, American Aloe. Off the subject but on to fashion, I've wondered what brand boots Aaron is wearing and was wearing in your marriage video? Thank you for another totally captivating garden video!

3:10 I was bitten by a false black widow 3 years ago, had a nasty reaction to it and have a dent and scar on my shin. Agave house is looking good! (Been meaning to say I had a Morris 2 door saloon, trafalgar blue! Gorgeous cars 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻)

The walls look like plaster to me! My home foundation is crumbling in the same manner. Look up “plaster foundation”, sometimes it is a finishing style they do on top of bricks, rocks or cinderblocks. Good luck!

Often asbestos will have fibers in the mix, so they should look for that. You brought up a good point of concern.
