80% chose their parents, and they received both gifts. I guess that means the remaining 20% was only given the gift they chose for themselves, or maybe they didn't get to keep it after all. I bet they regretted their decision later.

I don’t doubt for a second most children would chose the gift for their parent. Children do notice the sacrifices parents make for them and would be glad to be given a chance to give back.
