you aren't the previous owner are you? ;-) , Just got back from collecting the car so next episode coming very soon. I can confirm the 3.7 is very nice indeed.
Sorry to hear you couldn’t get the data Lee as I know this was key to your plans. At least you will know the clutch will be good when it comes back. Looking forward to more updates on how the conversations go with Hartech and what you decide for your final list of work items with them.
Thanks Toby, and yeah it was disappointing when the clutch went but I'm glad the car will get the attention it needs now. I have more bits I want to do when it comes back from Hartech too before JayEmm drives it.
Awesome. Glad the car is with Hartech now. I'm sure you are excited. As with you shipping was the scariest part of my motor job too. Fortunately no issues but those shippers can be trouble. To them its just another car...
Now does hartech cut out and put in new cylinders or do they plate your existing cylinders in the motor? Curious how they get to 3.7 or 3.9 vs 3.8 and 4.0 fsi does.
@@RicknWRX They cut out the old cylinders and put new closed deck cylinders in and F1 style pistons. They also take a slightly different approach with the IMS to FSI, put a larger IMS shaft in along with a larger IMS.
@@leeevernden interesting. Fsi doesn't close the deck which is interesting that hartech does. Without boost the deck shouldn't need closing. I would be interested to know why hartech closes it. Very cool though! Didn't know that about the ims
@@speedyben welcome! Still a work in progress this car, I’m upgrading the interior now so video to come on that soon, after that, handling and then exhaust so plenty still to do.
I thought I recognised some of the roads. I am from a village between Cambridge and Newmarket. Really enjoying your videos. I’m in a very similar situation as you were with a nearly identical car. Have been considering a Hartech engine rebuild/upgrade for a while and your experience and the results with your car might have made my mind up. Thank you for sharing your experience and documenting it all. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
@@robertgreen5981 Thanks Robert, in that case you are exactly why I documented the process, there isn’t a lot of information out there so glad it’s helpful!
I had one the exact same as yours , I loved it , I would of loved to get the 3.7 conversion done on mine 👍🏻

Very excited yes, and yeah glad the transporters were good, I will be collecting the car myself so glad that worry is out of the way.

Always better to have closed deck though so that is a win for you!
Fair play you tried 😅 bit late but watching through these
