Oh good God! I didn’t know this. I was hanging backstage with them that night. I’m literally right at the back of the stage here. We lost touch over time. Damn. RIP.
@@JoeysAmazingThings were you part of the band? I miss this man, he didn’t wanted to be a front man and I can understand his panic to being on stage. But I was glad to see he was pursuing songwriting and doing wonderful songs and I always thought he would maybe do something solo and then I read the news and I was deeply sad. He had so much more to give us but I guess depression and axiety became too much to struggle with for him. It just reminds us we must support those suffering from these conditions more often, even if they feel like being alone we must try to stay with them so we can avoid tragedies.
Here to let everyone know, my local radio is still spinin this that track, haven't heard it since i was a kid, broght me so much nostaligia I even teared up after hearing about the singer, this song will stick with me, we got him at the the shop
I’ve listened to pieces of paradise more times than I can count. Knowing he decided to go the way he did puts such a different spin on his lyrics. Absolute hidden gem of an artist and album. RIP James ❤️
RIP James Renald :( I really wish the camera had focused on his vocals more in this video. What a great talent and vocal style. Im so bummed since I found out he passed away... but if the darkness is all you see, well then you dont know what your missing.. do you?
I listened to this album over 1000 times and still to this day, I knew James was struggling and now he is in heaven signing these beautiful song to others and probably with Haydain Neale of jacksoul and many great Canadian signers gone to soon. RIP great first album and then he left it went 2x platinum in Canada and won a Juno and amazing for a first album .
You could see in Jame's mannerism that he struggled with the reaction of the fans in the final frames. People have critiqued that Antoine was only along for the ride, but in reality, you could see that he was a defining strength to his best friend from College who struggled with severe social anxiety. Having had a very very slight taste of it back in 1993 when I won Speakers Corner in Toronto. That one minute of fame, led to various people coming up to me and asking me if I was that guy on Speakers Corner? People in my building screaming "I saw you on TV" honestly, I $ hated it. What an invasion of privacy. I can only imagine what James went through? RIP James
[name removed for privacy] August 13, 2018 · Lost an old school friend with tremendous talent. I remember hanging with Jimmy Renald out at his house after school and singing together and putting on air bands. He moved away early in high school but went on to score big with the band Sky and write songs for many others... Rest in peace my friend.
I didn’t know that singer James Renald died of suicide in 2018 until like 2 years ago I’ve heard this song when it came out I was like 7 or 8 when it aired on the radio and it kinda fizzled away from the radio stations here where I live but I know he’s at peace but there’s always help out there for mental health
Doing a 30-Day Song Challenge for some fun, and today is Day 27, 'a song that breaks your heart'. Man, loved this song for 20+ years. Fantastic. Recently read about James Renald. Breaks my heart... my sincere choice for today. Condolences to all his family and friends.
We need this song on Spotify!!! Whoever controls the rights to these songs needs to use Distrokid (or another distributor) to get it on all the major streaming platforms (Spotify, AppleMusic, Amazon Music etc.) so it can live on forever!!
I was so sure that 'Love song' was a 'Bass is Base' song - it's exactly their kind of song they would write, and along the lines of their hit song 'I cry'.Give both songs a listen, back to back, and you'll see what I mean. Both sound like they are 'Bass is Base' songs. Can someone please clarify this for me? Thank You. This is a really 'cool' tune...great lyrics, melody, vocals, arrangement, it has it all.
Does anybody know why James Renald disappeared? I heard he developped some kind of a scene panic, he didn’t wanted to perform live anymore. But to me he sounds and looked very confortable, I hope he keeps writing for Mandy Moore and others and maybe one day hopefully he’ll reunite with Antoine Sicotte and make a comeback as the original sky duo. That would be great!!!

The bassist...the guy who wrote the song? It's in C#, so the F would be a 3. Off the top of my head, the bass only hits the 3 during the 234 runs. To play a G (4# or 5b) would be a more difficult run...24#4. What's the time in the vid that you're talking about?
4 years ago today we lost an extremely talented artist. RIP James ♥️
Best days of my life were those years, listening to their hit songs while going to school. R.I.P. James Renald.
Anxiety disorders are a bitch...

He died in 2018.
He struggled with anxiety prior to starting Sky. He never want to deal with fame and preferred the production side of music.
Check out James Renald mondays..he recorded it later for an album but never released it..so good.
I need to find me a gal, who loves this tune as much as I do! We can listen to it at least once a day, for the rest of our lives. Is she out there?
yo, i didnt know karl wolf was in Sky🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
He tried to make Toto's Africa popular and then years later Weezer stepped in and dominated the charts.
