Excellent video!!! Love the acela express!!! Very surprised there's only two tunnels going under the Hudson still one of the biggest bottlenecks on the Northeast Corrider
Nice video, brings back memories of fun dates in NYC, museum trips, everything. Entering the tunnel was the cue to get ready for Penn station. Almost there!
Knowing how New York and New Jersey governments just can't resist taking money any way that they can from people, I'm really surprised that there isn't a toll booth at the tunnel.
@@MidnightAspec That third rail dates back to the Pennsylvania Railroad years. Throughout the PRR, and into the Penn Central, there was a DD-1 electric locomotive that powered a wire train. The catenary wires were inspected daily to avoid outages.
Great video but sorry to say don't go here again this area has major security cameras on it guarding the whole area. Apparently before 9/11 one could get down to track level here without issues but today stay away from here unless you work for the railroad. Film from the sidewalk away from this immediate area. A ton and a half of us railfans would love to be here, but we don't go here to watch trains.
No problem, I also subbed to you.. As for the spot we rail buffs would love to be at, right where the freights go under the NEC get both types of trains at once, which you can see the bridge girders in your video..
Try sellecks woods park Darien Connecticut. I’m not really a railfanner but the tracks run beside an are in the park. View isn’t perfect but still great

Great video. I'm curious to know how many trains entered/exited the tunnel while you were there? I imagine during peak morning/evening rushes trains goes by there every minute or so.
Rushi Jaradi I cant go any further from where I was or it’s gonna be considered trespassing and then Port Authority Police and NJT Police will be on my ass with guns drawn, lmfao it’s a high security area with cameras near the portals , I highly recommend don’t go any closer for footage,
there's a couple of cool video shorts from UA-cam, from the point of view of a track worker: ua-cam.com/video/gmPpYZoc1VA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Psx-APpBGa8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/0uaHFkJti0Y/v-deo.html
Might be a rescue move actually for a disabled train. The Comet cab car and ALP-45DP might be protect equipment. When I pass through Harrison, I often see that ALP-45DP and cab car sitting in the NJT yard there.

Agreed, I believe they’re making construction to make two more, I could be wrong

You can still see the old Third Rail at 2:40!
Trans-Continental Rail Fan I suppose that’s used in the event a Genesis dual mode is in use.
Trans-Continental Rail Fan Don’t think P32s have ventured under those tunnels yet
