Everything is going great for Pee-wee... until his Christmas wish list becomes so long that there won't be enough presents for all the other kids in the world! When Santa Claus pleads for help, Pee-wee reluctantly learns a lesson about the true meaning of Christmas.

We restored the Fleischer cartoon that’s featured in this episode! We managed to be in contact with Paul during our restoration so he could enjoy it.

I grew up in the 70's and Christmas was always the most beautiful, special, amazing, and wonderful time of year. I remember right when 🎃👻Halloween👻🎃 would end, the ⏰clock⏰ would start the countdown to 🎄Christmas🎄. The one thing that I always looked forward to was when the JC Penny's Christmas Catalog and the Sears Wish Book were released. I'd spend hours paging through both books, front to back, back to front. Making notes and hints for Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and 🎅Santa🎅Claus🎅 of course. The city would change, houses would light up, and decorations would be everywhere! But once 🦃🍗Thanksgiving🍗🦃 ended, and December was here, then the television stations began showing the Christmas Specials. Charlie Brown's Holiday specials, then Rankin Bass 🦌Rudolph🦌the Red-nosed🦌Reindeer🦌, 🎅Santa🎅Claus🎅 is Coming to Town, ☃️Frosty⛄the☃️Snowman☃️, The Little🥁Drummer🥁Boy🥁, and others ending with Rudolph's Shiny New Year🎉 . I want to thank you so much for sharing this with us. I actually never saw this particular special. I've gained a really special love and respect for Pee Wee Herman's shows and specials and being able to see this now is very very special. Thank you again. So many of the performers who were in this special have passed on. So many memories, so many incredibly talented people, actors, and artists. God Bless them all, and God Bless all of us as well. In a time when there is so much insanity, violence, pain, and misery, being able to watch Pee Wee Herman's innocence and his love of life can bring a smile to us when we may need it most. 🙏🕊RIP🕊🙏 to every person who has passed on. I'm still amazed at how many celebrities were part of this special.
I remember watching this the first time it aired. That year (1988) was pretty difficult. My mom passed away in September of that year, amd this special was pretty much the only thing I looked forward to that holiday season. This year hasn't been easy, but thank you for posting this. Once again, Pee Wee's Christmas Special managed to make me smile during tough times. I hope tomorrow is a better day for everyone.❤

This is a staple of my childhood. My parents taped it from the tv when I was a kid and we watched it constantly. What a time to be alive.
RIP: Pee Wee, Little Richard, Del Rubio triplets, Joan Rivers, Annette Funicello, Dinah Shore and I'm sure the many others I'm missing. This was my favorite Christmas special growing up.

I wish Pee-Wee made more TV specials like this during that time...this is sooo good and a nice old way to see good friends and loved ones visit someone during the holidays.

We have the DVD (& actually still have the VHS from taping it off tv when it was new). One of my favorites every year - Rest in Peace, dearest Pee-wee.
It doesn't have to be the holidays to enjoy these masterpieces, you know.

I introduced Pee-Wee to my cousin's children this past Christmas. It's safe to say they've become fans as well. Much like Mister Rogers and Captain Kangaroo before him, their legacies will continue after they've passed on.

Ive lived and died by the documentary every xmas season, a family tradition. We still own the original tape my parents recorded off television in the late 80s/early 90s possibly? My parents handwriting was alrdy long but faded and gone by the time i was 16 in the year 2000.

That's because the series was shot on film and then transferred to low quality VHS tapes for the network for the original airings. The film is actually HD quality!! I was shocked when I learned this!!!
