I actually have the opposite effect. I think "I'm better than this guy". Every time I see a video of his I try and recreate what he does and it's not difficult for me to do so. He was just raised in a musical womb in a first world country
I feel like the singing is going to overshadow just how impressive transcribing these runs is. Props to the singers obviously, but major props to George too
I went to Tori's concert recently and she sang this. Tori is beyond amazing. It's great when someone with clear musical intention meets someone with the right skill.
Really recommend watching the full version on Jacobs channel. Tori's ability to pick up a riff immediately and then make it sound even better is honestly one of the most impressive things I've seen in my entire life! Also Jacob is a mad musical genious, but everyone knows that at this point!
The combination of Jacob's insane vision and Tori's ineffable voice transcends deep reverie. Whatever that means. Beyond impressed that Jacob not only has the vision, but could express it as well and Tori's voice is such a gift to the ears.
@@iurigrang Sure, but autotune can't. The whole point of autotune is that it is automatic. It automatically corrects to the nearest note of 12 tone equal temperament, which isn't what they were trying to sing here, so it would make the notes incorrect.
@@RufusLoacker You can change the reference frequency and you can customise the scale it will correct to (choosing which notes from the chromatic scale you want to use - I think you have to use notes from an equal temperament chromatic scale, but maybe there is some finer customisation available deep in the advanced settings), but that's not going to help with this kind of singing. If you wanted to pitch correct this, you would need to do it manually. Auto-tune can only move a note to the nearest note in a predetermined scale. They aren't singing using a predetermined scale.
She didn’t have time to rerecord due to other projects and therefore didn’t want to get credited since she didn’t put in any extra work, if I remember correctly :)
It's just because she's partly using a vocal break to do a clean transition on the run. It's hard to explain but it's all in the vocal cord, but some singers use their jaw to help control it by holding tension (bad technique, that). But There are a lot of accomplished singers who do this naturally without autotune -- we just don't hear a lot of this kind of technique in pop, and especially don't hear it a lot in modern times precisely because of that sound being so similar to the artificial sound in autotune. But listen to some good ol Whitney Houston and she uses this technique a lot.
@@mrsmarr3308 OOhhh i'd love to know what that "hard to explain" thing is! It's a vocal chord gesture from note to note? I think i kind of know what you're saying
My question would be: did Jacob let her listen to the chord progression beforehand? If not, just repeating his lines after him with no harmonic reference would make her skills even more impressive!
I'm practicing the run that starts high, hits a few accidentals, and ends low. I have the note precision, I just need to do it a touch slower than Tori. But just a touch!!!
Hes right when he says you're the only person in the world that can do this. The crazy thing is knows how to throw all that together and how it will sound. Dudes music brain is not of this world.

Check the description, it isn't transcribed by him.
Also, the bottom right corner of the screen at the beginning of the video

Jacob is crazy for making these insane runs, and Tori is insane for being able to sing them even better than Jacob can! Two musical powerhouses
“excited Tori stomping” was probably the best part

Just hearing two musicians expressing their unsatisfied desire.
Insane video to transcript! I've loved this song so much for so long! Thank you so much for giving us sheet music. Tori Kelly is truly amazing.

This is some crazy good vocal control
George, you've done a great job capturing the microtones and slides. Autotune would completely destroy the nuances of this melody.
You can pitch correct to microtones tho

0:05- dang Jacob, that run! 🤯
Those last three notes at 0:07-0:08 were so smooth! ☄️💥🔥
As much as I respect Tori Kelly and John Legend, I‘d hoped that Yebba would sing on this one so much 😭
