  • UPDATE! Here's a link to an updated video to this build for endgame. 100K CRITS on Death March NG+ lv 80! Strongest build in the game!:
    • Witcher 3: B&W | 100K ...
    In this video, I go over the indisputably best build in Witcher 3 currently, and then talk about what new mutations in Blood and Wine are the best fit for it. The build offers a good amount of flexibility to change your preference, too.
    Prepare to become a professional.
    Enjoy, friends!
    For those who just quickly want a build without a thorough explanation or visuals, here:
    With Razor Focus: 69 points needed for the build showcased (without being able to switch to a strong attack or Rend variant on the fly).
    Without: 65.
    Blood and Wine mutations
    1. EUPOHORIA
    2. MUTATED SKIN
    3. METAMORPHOSIS
    Base Game Build
    1. Tissue Transformation
    2. Hunter Instinct
    3. Endure Pain
    4. Synergy
    5. Killing Spree
    6.Acquired Tolerance
    7. Heightened Tolerance
    8. Bear or Cat School techniques
    9. Resolve or Razor Focus
    10. Muscle Memory or Strength Training
    11. Precise Blows or Crushing Blows
    12. Whirl or Rend (or replace Rend with something else if you have difficulty with its animation timing).
    Decoction and Playstyle Addendum:
    As an annotation in the video said, Ekhidna does not work with Whirl's stamina depletion to grant Geralt health, but the damage from Whirl still works with Ekimmara. I was informed by Mancave that this was patched out for balancing issues. However, you can still use the arch-griffon's decoction's stamina depletion effect with Ekhidna to grant your strong attacks to give you a large heal (about 1,000 HP for a full stamina pool depletion).
    An alternative decoction, then, can be swapped out for Ekhidna if you wish to play only the Whirl playstyle with no strong attacks. (However, you can also weave in a Rend to grant you that stamina-based healing.) Therefore, I'd recommend the Wyvern decoction as it increases your attack power based on the amount of hits you land, and you'll be hitting fast and often with Whirl.
    Lastly, I was reminded in the comments that I could simply use the runes Hearts of Stone provided to wear Ursine armor, but have the game treat it as light. The only use for this, though, would be to swap out Bear school techniques for Cat school. This is a preference issue as you'd get much more critical hit damage from cat school, but lose a lot of HP from the bear school--especially so as the vitality gained from bear school is a multiplier.

      Glad you like it! I'm going to edit some things soon, but a real cool decoction to use with this is the chort (in place of wyverrn or grave hag) that makes it where you can't get staggered; an unstoppable Whirl!

      Thanks, man; I already added it to my TW3 builds playlist. I must concur with others who say this build is almost overkill, as it makes things too easy. Only things that give me a real challenge are the horrendous archespores. I might swap out some alchemy skills for others just to make it challenging again. This is on my NG play through having completed HoS. It is nice to be godlike every once in a while though.

    Good food for thought and some ideas to incorporate, but I'm finding it hard to go past straight sign build at the moment - IMO sign builds with the new Grandmaster Griffin gear far out shine other builds, plus you can burn mobs to a crisp and its fun to watch fools explode when you Runewright your armour with eruption :)

      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      Ya, I would like to go try a sign build and test things out once I get the gear and time into blood and wine. I'm still having fun with the build in the video, too: dealing 3k+ fast attack hits and I'm up to 13.5k hp with more dps-oriented gear on. I still need to be level 65 or what not to equip my highened legendary gear, so I have a ways to go.
      I want to test out a quen-ursine playstyle with the build in this video and a grave hag decoction.

    I'm using pretty much the same build with Euphoria, 3 decoctions, maybe 4 soon. But i don't use Endure Pain and Killing Spree. Why using Endure Pain since you're not losing life anymore thanks to Heightened Tolerance? And Tissue Transmutation already gives a 3K HP boost with 3 decoctions, 50% bonus HP from green mutagens thanks to Synergy, my level 46 Geralt has 10750 HP :)

      @Ditronus.  8 років тому +1

      Whoa, great alternative! Good comment. It's all about looking smooth, am I right?
      The choice would have to be made if you value more damage or health. You'd gain much more damage with the cat school techniques, but you'd lose a considerable amount of health as the bear school's bonus is a vitality multiplier, which interacts quite nicely with Tissue Transformation and our mutagens. If the fight is easy, perhaps cat school is the the way to go.

  • @jubul666

    im bringing this build to my NG+ on death march. so far so good. i have tweaked it slightly (not the core build just the gear and mutations because blood and wine is out now) i took euphoria for my active mutation and put one of the point sink abilities in alchemy (delayed recovery for me it dosnt seem to help much but it is a placeholder untill i get more points. i am using fill grandmaster ursine armor for the vitality boost with bear school ability, sick looks and chance to get a free quen (i have it enchanted with protection so i get a free quen going into combat) i just fought the griffin and didnt have to dodge, he hit me 3 times, the first 2 broke quen and the last hit me for a TINY amount and that was almost instantly healed. this build is solid.
    i have to say, i dont think the mutagens work like you think they do, you can only have one active and when you have enough you unlock extra ability slots (only an ability that shares a color with the active mutagin .
    what would you recommend i put in those extra slots?
    lastly, while this is the last expansion for witcher 3 i dont think it will be the end of the series, this game was way too good to be the end. im sure CDPR will make another for all of us loving fans. this game was truly one of the best games i have ever played. i have over 165 hours and i am still playing

      I'd have to do more research in order to make a recommendation. It's awesome to hear the build working for you, and your grandmaster Ursine armor sounds sweet!

    Its quite the nice build, but imho only recommendable to the extreme hardcore-gamers, because its takes a horrendous amount of time to get enough mutagens for the decoctions. I played the game for about 120 hours by now and during all that time I was running around and exploring every single corner of the game, I never ever got a single mutagen that is required for the 3 decoctions you recommend...

    Whirl does NOT synergize with Ekhidna Decoction. This was patched out months ago. I wish it did, because ditching my sign build in favor of a build similar to this I found myself having a hard time reliably healing myself.

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      Hmm, even with the Ekimmara decoction activated you have a hard time keeping your health topped out? I found that even without the self-healing through attacks, my swallow potions lasted so long (over 40 seconds) that it would heal my 12k+ HP in a single use.
      I'm even more impressed, then, as the self healing in this video all came from Ekimmara alone; this also means we are free to use another decoction in its place. I think perhaps Wyverrn might be the best. I appreciate the catch. I'll throw in an annotation to correct that and suggest another. This is where I wish I could edit my video without having to remove it >

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      I just tested to see if Arch-griffon decoction's stamina depletion works with the Ekhidna decoction: it does. A strong attack without Ekimmara is about 1,000 healing and 1,200 with. So it would seem that the strong attack playstyle (dumping stamina into strong attacks over Whirl with arch-griffon decoction) offers more spike healing than the fast attack playstyle, but given Whirl's stagger effect on many particular mobs, it may still be more survival-oriented.
      Again, thanks for the correction here. I annotated the video with it.

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      +Felipe Rodrigues There's no other decoction that would be good to fill the slot, though. An ekimmara decoction provides thousands and thousands of heals via DPS throughout a fight without worry about being too toxic. I'd never give it up.

    • @feliperodrigues5437
      @feliperodrigues5437 8 років тому

      Ditronus I like it a lot in my sign build, because I use signs every 3 seconds, but in combat buids I think it's less usefull. For combat builds I like that one that nullifies stagger and reduces knock down to stagger, it's very useful against big enemies like trolls, fiends and bosses in general.

    • @Ditronus.

      Good question.
      It depends on whether or not you choose Resolve or Razor focus in the combat tree of the fifth column.
      Without Razor focus, it's 64 points to get my exact build (without the option of switching to a strong attack/rend build on the fly). With Razor focus, it's 69. Of course this build is functional without having every thing unlocked and optimized. Also to remind you, there are 25 places of power to draw from to speed this goal along.

  • @feliperodrigues5437
    @feliperodrigues5437 8 років тому

    This is not the best build bro, there are several ways to improve it, worrying less about critical hits and increasing base damage is one, ditching healing decoctions and abilities that increase health pool in favor of more damage is another (White Raffard's is all the healing you'll ever need). You should also use the Northern Wind bomb, it's Whirl's best friend, freeze everyone then whirl them to death in seconds. Superior Maribor Forest also works great giving you an extra adrenaline point, so you can start the fight with 2.

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      If I can get three adrenalin points within 10 seconds, why would I waste a decoction slot to get two instantly? With the grave hag decoction, I can have 50% extra damage as long as I maintain my hp, which is easy with ekimmara.
      Focusing on crit and crit damage is allowing me to get over 3k+ dmg on my fast swings. Getting base damage up is a given in any build, which comes from just getting higher upgraded gear, which I didnt have in this video, but I now have upgraded legendary gear. At the start of the video I said there is flexibility in how you want to play/modify it. I'll look into the freeze technique as it sounds nice.

    • @feliperodrigues5437
      @feliperodrigues5437 8 років тому

      Why wait 10 seconds to get 3 adrenaline when you could end the fight in 10 seconds? Whirl uses both stamina and adrenaline, so as soon as you use it you'll lose the bonus from the grave hag decoction. Damage doesn't come only from gear, obviously. If you had more combat oriented skills instead of hp regen skills you would have way higher base damage. A 3k crit is nice, but they don't happen all the time, I preffer higher base damage any day, unless the crit chance is 75% or higher, less than that isn't worth it for me. I used a build similar to yours, but focusing everything on damage, it literally mowed down the enemies, I stopped using it because it was too powerful and turned the game into a cakewalk, and I play on Death March, lol. Remember that boss fight in the first expansion against the 6 Olgierd nightmare phantom things, inside the painting? I killed each one of them in 3 to 5 seconds, it was stupid.

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      +Felipe Rodrigues Whirl only uses adrenalin if you are out of stamina. I stop when stamina is drained. My crits happen almost every single strike once I fell one enemy thanks to the mutation that increases crit chance by 50%. It's more damage output to have 50% more damage from grave hag (which is dependent on a full HP bar and not stamina) instead of a measley 10% attack power from starting out with one more adrenalin point. If the fight is less than 8-10 seconds, sure, you're suggestion works, but fights never are that short with level 60+ enemies on broken bones; health pools are too large. It takes mere seconds to get an extra adrenalin point with fast attacks and Ursine armor. My build literally has almost every combat-oriented skill for a fast attack playstyle. That's the beauty of it: it's almost as strong as you can get, but with almost as much survivability as you can get. Of course there's room to shift that balance around to get more power and less health or the other way around. We are just talking about preferences at this point, which is the sign of good game design.

    • @feliperodrigues5437
      @feliperodrigues5437 8 років тому

      Maybe I'm too much of a Souls player, to me survivability doesn't matter as long as you can take 1 or 2 hits before healing, killing things faster matters way more for me, that's how you beat the game at level 1.

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому

      Dark Souls 3 was great, wasn't it? I still don't understand the playstyle you are suggesting, though. I don't see how it's stronger (offensively) than a fast attack build with 70% crit chance several hundred thousand crit damage multiplier, and a limitless amount of self-heals. Like I said, every blow I land after an enemy has died in an encounter is a critical strike. Throw in 100% crit damage from 3 adrenalin points, 75-130% from weapons, 50% from gloves, etc., and you have a very strong offensive build. A whirl makes the attack animation of those critical strikes at least 1.5x faster for it's duration, and gives you a stagger. But, like I said before, you can modify this build to make that even faster at the cost of survivability. However, this build incorporates almost every offensive mutation worthwhile, yet the red mutations would make the mutagens much more strong, offering 60% more attack power for each red mutagen placed. There's a good way to take this build and make it more to your liking.

    lol this build sucks, with my alchemy build i can make over 6k dmg

    • @Ditronus.
      @Ditronus.  8 років тому +2

      Same build, but better gear and it goes to 7k fast attack damage (but at the cost of some HP). Dont only look to numbers when judging the potential of a build; it's a novice mistake. Look at gear, playstyle, tradeoffs, and how it synergizes with other mutations/items/abilities.
      To have 13k HP, the best I could get my damage up to was 3.5k. There's always trade-offs, my friend. This video represents a more balanced, but slightly-tilted defensive build, and surely doesn't represent the actual potential once it is maximized; it doesn't even have the new mutations equipped.

      It works just fine on death march, I assure you. The footage just happened to be on broken bones, and I wanted to be honest; I can upload death march footage if necessary, but the only thing that significantly changes when raising the difficulty is the damage you take, and having 13k+ HP and doing consistent 3k+ fast attack swings is sufficient on any difficulty. I'm playing through Blood and Wine on death march right now, and it's only gotten stronger as I got better gear.
