April was no Bonnie
I have created a fan-made character based on that of KITT, with a lot of new and different features.
Indeed April (Rebecca Holden) was confident, highly skilled, and dedicated to supporting Michael and KITT. Let's also be honest about the real reason she was brought in to replace Bonnie (Patricia McPherson). April's primary function was to bring sex appeal to the female technician role. She was a direct response to shows like 'Dallas' which featured beautiful, and sexy female characters. NBC hoped April would become a fan favorite among male viewers which would boost ratings. Unfortunately she did not have good chemistry with the cast and stood out as an obvious attempt to provide eye candy to the show.
David Hasselhoff was not pleased with Patricia McPherson being fired. The two of them had grown to be close friends during the first season of the show. Hasselhoff was the biggest advocate for bringing Bonnie back. He threatened to not return for season 3 if Patricia was not given her job back. The studio caved and that's why Bonnie came back for the remainder of the series.

Love the show. I feel attempts to reboot the show have always forgotten that lone ranger righting wrongs aspect of the show and thus why they never did as well along with other critical mistakes.
thats a good point. Never saw it that way
100% agree, especially the 2008 reboot missed critical elements like you said the lone ranger righting wrongs and the relationship between KITT and Michael.
Just crazy how GM/Pontiac once again killing itself to not refer to Kitt, as a Pontiac (crazy) .
Knight Rider 2008 aired on NBC for 17 episodes and it Stared Justin Bruening as Michael Knight the son of the original Michael Knight from 1982
It was unfortunately cancelled after NBC decided to renew Heroes and Chuck instead and could not afford or risk renewing Knight because of less than stellar ratings
This show features great action scenes and incredible special effects but I only consider the first 12 episodes because the ending of the 12th is bittersweet and it brings the story full circle and the last 5 seem like filler.
I watched the show. It had potential imo but it lacked what made the original great.
@ I have the whole series on dvd it’s very expensive on EBay
The first 12 episodes are the best and Val Kilmer as new Kitt was hilarious
: )
