Many best love stories/marriages start with friendship! Brandon&Andrea were a perfect match and they would be much more interesting to watch as a couple than Brandon/Kelly etc. Brandon and Andrea had physical chemistry, and they were a match psychologically, in general: both smart, solid, good-hearted, and both much more grounded than the rest of the gang. Putting literally every main male character with Kelly was cliche and boring. Brandon was falling in love with Andrea for real around seasons 3-4 but they were just both afraid to try because they didn't want to ruin their friendship. Too bad because they had amazing chemistry, period. the writers made a mistake not putting them together.
I too wish they engaged and married: in the "Slumber Party" episode Andrea admitted she was in love with Brandon, and Brenda told her she knew Brandon was in love with Andrea too
