  • Ski resorts here in France are still shut down. I hiked up for a quick sunset descent. Conditions got pretty icy after the first few minutes but it was still great fun. I'm working on a project to incorporate 360 binaural audio into these videos, it didn't work for this one, so the audio is just from the GoPro, but I've managed to figure it out now - so you'll be seeing (hearing!) it my upcoming videos. I've also managed to accurately track my speed and elevation using a Garmin Fenix sports watch, after having previously had mixed results with the GPS function on the GoPro.
    If you would like to have snowboard lessons with me here in Alpe d'Huez, France, then take a look at my website below to find out more:

      For most people it’s rough in the beginning, but when you hit your first run without falling it’ll all be worth it. Also everyone learns at a different pace so don’t be too hard on yourself, you got this.

    When all your friends went back to the lodge but you wait on top of the mountain till the slope is almost empty and then just ride it down in one go.
    The sunset, the view and the feeling of freedom is the purest experience you can have when snowboarding/skiing.
    This gives me a very special stomach feeling and teary eyes. It reminds me so much on that last ride down on the last day of holidays.
    Thank you.

    In your opinion how many times going snowboarding does it take before I start feeling comfortable gaining speed?

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  3 роки тому +1

      A couple of seasons maybe, its easy enough to just go fast, but to try and do it with technique is more difficult. To be honest in this video as its pretty icy I do skid alot more than I would have liked to. But when the snow is good and you can carve at high speeds, thats the best!

      Haha, so I tried to make a box to better record the audio of the snow sounds, so it is foam with a mic hidden in. It did actually work quite well until it fell off! And yeah, they didn't like people hiking much, so thankfully nothing bad happened to me! And sorry for the late reply!

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  3 роки тому +2

      Haha, so I haven't tried all binding brands but here's my take on what I have. Unions just dont last well which is a shame as they ride great. I've just bought burton cartels for this winter, they are a great do everything binding, the one downside is that they are not overly adjustable. Burton malavitas are also great but again you cant adjust them all too much (unless you get the EST version for channel boards). Ride bindings are decent too and I had a pair that lasted me forever they have revamped the whole lineup this season though and I haven't ridden any of the new models. Salomon bindings are also good, look for the ones with 'shadowfit' technology. This is where the heel cup is flexible and moulds around your boot. It feels a little weird at first but I ended up really liking it. K2 bindings I was not a fan of at all, I like a binding that allows you to feel the flex of the board and these did not, the footbed was far too rigid for my liking. As for boots I've been on burton imperials for the last 6 years, I just keep buying a new pair every season as I know they fit me well and have a nice middle of the road flex. The reduced footprint tech they use is important for me, it means that the boot is as small as possible at the heel and toe so as not to hang over the edges of the board if you have big feet. I'm pretty sure nitro do a similar thing too. Hope this helps!

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  3 роки тому +1

      It wasnt the easiest no! I have used the gopro quik app in the past which I explain on my gopro tips video at about 13 mins into it. If that works it's pretty straightforward but the gopro is really bad at getting accurate data. This was recorded with a garmin watch and then I used the free garmin software to add in the dials. You then have to manually sync them to your footage, which isn't too tricky but takes a bit of getting used to. It took me a few days of trial and error and youtube tutorials to figure it out!
