- Skype is a video, audio, and chat app by Microsoft. The app is available on Mac and PC and on iPhone and Android.
It allows you to chat for free with your contacts that have a skype account.
You can easily do video or audio chat or even share your screen. There is a simple group chat option as well built in the app.

There are just so many questions right from the outset that are not answered. This tutorial launched into the process far too quickly. What is the communication medium? Is it the telephone, the internet or e-mail? What is my profile, is it my e-mail address or something else? If so, what? How does one decide what communication medium to use? If by telephone, then presumably there is a phone charge. Skype is usually said to be free but there are little cash registers around and one feels that just one wrong move and the bills will start racheting upwards. Why do I need an account if I want to use Skype free of charge? The tutorial needs a prequel to set the scene. At the moment it is unfathomable for a beginner. Howfinity is too knowledgeable to understand how and where to begin.
Me watching this at 2am because I have video call tomorrow because of covid19
No I'm not going to use it, I don't want addiction to social media
Use something else. Skype gets worse every day.
Since Microsoft bought Skype it has become terribly complicated! You have to be tech-savvy to use it.
You talk too fast, without pausing between thoughts.
feeling like grandma trying to learn simple tech hahaha
It would be truly beneficial to a beginner if you would teach rather than show how much you know. Example; highlight your cursor and make your movements much slower. It should not be a race to "Find Waldo"!
old skype was better
Poor. I thought Skype was for video conferencing. No mention of that. Plus: how do you connect with others? Do they have to be a registered Skype member?
How to enlarge the ones video when there is going on video conferencing with many people in laptop
Thanks, I find Skype a little user unfriendly for someone who just wants to make a simple video call, but you explained the process clearly.
Thank you so much . Beautifully explained
I wish you would have talked more about setting up contacts.
How would Skype work for teaching a painting class where people can see the demonstration and correspond with me or others in the session? I want the group to see the demo and be able to see me to talk with about the ongoing demo topic. Can skype do this?
If you are recording a chat, Skype crops the screen in the recoding. Is there a way for it to record full screen?
Thank you for this detailed video. It was very helpful and informative.

Does anyone know how to place a call using my newly purchased Skype phone number? Am I making an error when I select Skype online to try and make a call using my personalized Skype number? I'm unable to find a video that shows me the start point from where I would do this. Your input is greatly appreciated. Kindly, Jennifer
