    Great video ! Lots of people tend to underestimate the value of the mid-point by breaking it very quickly. We have to take advantage of it.

    There is also one other thing to think about when leaving a blot, if you can try duplicating.
    Let say your opponent needs a certain number to escape. Leave them a blot with that number. Or maybe you already have a blot, leave the same number to hit both blots.
    Not sure if I explained that as well as I could have but hopefully you get what I mean :-)

    great studff Marc. Too many beginners develope candlesticks playing too safe early on and then wonder why they get "bad rolls" after there is nothing left to play but doubles :) Keep em comin!

    I got it right yay :) nice instructional video, can i constructively suggest that videos are shot from the point of view of a player bearing off to the right, as in Galaxy board format? ie so I would show this from blue's point of view, mirroring the board

    Hi, Marc. Good Morning! Your channel is very top, thank you very much for the tips you give us. I'm starting in backgammon and bought one with Paulo Venâncio, here in Brazil, very similar to what you have. Very good.
    Could you help me about backgammon watch? Are they the same for chess? I did not find this information. Thank you very much.

      Thank for the support Clayton :) And good luck with your new amazing board! As for backgammon clocks, the ZMF-II clock is very nice. It is also used for chess and is very silent. If you want something that's more tactile, then the LEAP PQ9907S is very good. Hope that helps!

    If there’s a choice, but I have to leave a blot, I sometimes I choose the blot furthest from my hime board. I figure that if it gets hit, I lose fewer pips in the race. Is this a valid concept? (I’m still a newb at BG)

    • @BackgammonGalaxy
      @BackgammonGalaxy  3 роки тому

      This is indeed also a concept! You are absolutely right. But it's more important to put your your blots in front of your opponent's stripped points (points without any spare checkers on it), so that he has to break his valuable asset (the made point) if he wants to hit you.

    I would like to know more about the rules at BACKGAMMON GALAXY? Can you please explain how this rule is a new ruling system and how it is legal to implement this rule as a new standard of play......this is the response from BACKGAMMON GALAXY when I questioned why when I lose a match I receive the penalty of lowering my ranking score and when I win a match from a higher ranked player I do NOT get rewarded any ranking points:
    *The Galaxy Rating system (GR), is a new and innovative system of ranking players, and the way it works: To win GR from your opponent, you have to win both the match AND the error rate battle (the two crowns). If you win one, but not the other, it's a GR draw.*
    Seems like a scam to keep higher ranked players UP and lower ranked players DOWN......

    • @mobiusklein9140

      On backgammon galaxy you become a grand master when your rating gets to 2400.

    • @BackgammonGalaxy
      @BackgammonGalaxy  4 роки тому

      There are several federations. For live play it is the BMAB federation (Backgammon Masters Awarding Body) who gives the titles. On Backgammon Galaxy it is achieved by reaching 2400 in GR.

      Could you do a clip on how the rating system works on the site how does your rating go up or down how many points does your rating go up say when you defeat a player 200 points higher than you

    • @mobiusklein9140
      @mobiusklein9140 4 роки тому

      @@katewild2194 - Kate, just join and play, it's absolutely free and there is nothing to download or install on your device. It is far and away the best place to play BG online.
      rating calculations are complex and I (and most people) cannot begin to explain it, BUT. You begin with a rating of 1500, if you win a match, your rating goes up (provided you play better than your opp). How much it goes up depends on who you play, if you beat a player ranked say 200 above you, your rating goes up a lot more than if you beat an equally ranked player. Similarly if you are outplayed and lose to a lower ranked player you will lose more rating points than if you lose to a higher rated player.
      The beauty of Galaxy is not just the great user interface but you get FREE XG analysis, which shows all your errors. No other BG site offers this so join up.

    I have to say that THERE ARE SO MANY VARIABLES IN THIS GAME BECAUSE OF THE ROLLS OF THE DICE, what the system is programed that is a correct move may NOT BE depending on the roll of the dice..... THE CORRECT MOVE MAY BE TO LEAVE AN EXPOSED CHECKER but only a FOOL will leave an exposed checker if it can be covered/paired. THE RULES HERE ARE A MATTER OF OPINION and that is exactly what it is....AN OPINION!!!! THERE ARE NO RULES THAT A PLAYER HAS TO FOLLOW EXACT MOVEMENTS ACCORDING TO EACH ROLL OF THE DICE. IT COMES DOWN TO A WIN IS A WIN, AND A LOSS IS A LOSS. ERROR BATTLES is a made up strategy for winners to stay winners and beginners/losers not to advance......kind of what is going on today in politics. HAS BACKGAMMON TURNED INTO A POLITICAL GAME?
