The bus is right in front of the hotel and it's free when staying at the hotel. It travels the length of the main road in Banff. Forget taking your car into town. The bus service is stellar.
Hi Chris. Great hotel review. Such a wonderful place to get away and relax. It's amazing how they built a beautiful and well design hotel with the equipment they had at that time. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Parkcade. We drop all luggage and people off at the front door and one person parks the car. When leaving, do the same. Just take the bus everywhere. If you have reservations off the property you can have that extra glass of wine, then hope back onto the bus, which takes you up the hill, to the Banff Springs. Easy peasy.
I can’t agree with your “con” list. The hotel isn’t grand just because of the architecture, rooms and amenities. It’s grand precisely because it isn’t wedged into the village amongst the traffic and hubbub and wandering tourists. I stayed at the Banff Springs hotel and was grateful for the seclusion within its relatively intact, beautiful natural setting. I took a cab back and forth from the hotel to town, no problem. As for limited availability for restaurants and activities, making reservations well before visiting seems like an obvious solution. And if you don’t like the hike from the self-parking structure to the hotel, use the valet service. If you don’t like paying for that service, change your attitude towards the hike and view it as a chance to burn off calories acquired from the good food.
Value wise it's horrible but it should be noted that it's a national historic site, the BSH is one of the things that made the railway profitable which is one of the reasons today Canada spans from pacific to atlantic oceans. From a historic standpoint it is the most important hotel in all of Canada. As a local I do love Stock. I probably go by there 2 or 3 times a week. 9:24 I have spent time sitting in those chairs reading. Although they have put up a sign saying guests only baring the public from going in they have yet to ask me to leave, lol.
The room is not only small but the shape is odd as well. Definitely not worth the money for $600 a night. Banff hotels are over priced, alternative is staying at Canmore, just 10 min drive from Banff and the price of hotel rooms are much more reasonable.

I love all the detail you give in your reviews so helpful!!! That heated pool looked amazing with that view.
Thanks! The pool was definitely my favorite amenity 😀
We enjoyed the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel twice. We'd love to do it again.
My mom stayed there in 1966! She was blown away by it, I remember as a kid hearing her excitement.
Nice!
We stayed in this hotel summer 2019. We fall in love with the place and hotel too. Now I know why the hotel look historic after watching your video.

Maybe I missed it but are there any ski slopes nearby? The place must be absolutely amazing in the winter !
Yes. There is skiing in Banff.
There are several ski resorts in the Banff area, very nice ones.
🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼
It doesn’t look very crowded. What time of year were you there?
This was recorded in May. Which yes. Is low season for this hotel
you didn't mention the ghost bride or sam the butler - some of the most famous stories of that hotel
I think that place is 4 to 500 a night
What a blight on the natural beauty of the area shame ,Canadians hate it
יש לו ילדה קדושה

Fairmont is definitely on the pricier side.. we stayed in Canmore too.. yes our hotel there was half the price of this one
It’s not worth the inflated prices. It’s beautiful to visit for the day but stay elsewhere.
It's definitely not cheap that's for sure
