Again best journalism for Bkk. Your fans should all meet you one time a month at a nice place for a coffee. Everybody like your vlogs. Could be fun. More and more people become lonely in Bkk:).

Many Thanks! You mean live streaming a meet up for a coffee? Could be interesting but there would have to be a central topic or theme......that will work better when people are able to travel a bit easier into Thailand too, as I'm sure there are a few who are counting down those days! Not a bad idea at all

@@BangkokPat Pat, are you still willing to give this idea a go? Travel into Thailand is pretty straightforward now. I think a good topic would be something like "if you were mayor and could implement one policy to improve Bangkok, what would it be?"

what I really love about your channel is that you not only show us Bangkoks past, but that you are also documenting the present situation. For that matter I hope you will travel to Thonburi one day, because I think with the arrival of IconSiam and the BTS Gold Line a lot will change on that side of the river in the near future. As for people biking around Victory Monument....only crazy Dutchmen do things like that :D

Appreciate the kind words, Hans. Thanks mate. I did notice a few female fans running after him on his bike but they were too fast for me to get on camera.
Thonburi will get a video very soon, I assure you of that.....the area is popular and you aren't the first to mention it. I spent time living near the BTS station in an empty shophouse (looking after it) and had some experiences in that area, back in 2002.

When we are fortunate to travel and “ go home “ each year we always end up eating somewhere near Victory Monument and my wife reminds me of hanging out in the area after school (obviously not for quite a few years now).
You’ve asked for possible topics in the past.
Christian places of worship in Bangkok may be interesting ? And their history.

      @BangkokPat  3 роки тому

Cheers mate. Can't please everyone. Maybe they want more shopping malls, temples and cooler places, there are thousands of those videos already. The videos aren't about me, it's through what I film and content. I do my best! I do make a point of including religious places that are out of the ordinary but Victory Monument was lacking a bit in that department, unless I missed them all. There was the deaf Christian fellowship place I took a snap of in Soi 5 and that's about it in this one. I'm currently shooting the Lumpini/Ngam Puphli/Suan Plu area and will include the demise of the stadium/suanlum night bazarr and other places that have been razed there, and that will mean a trip to the new stadium in Ram Intra as to show where it is now. And I'm a boxing fan so it'll be as in depth as running time allows.

Refreshed my memory of living near this monument for the last two years. Phayathai Palace seems to be opened in the usual daytime, and the cafe of it is great in atmosphere and price also. For food, besides boat noodles, I will think of Eat Am Are, a cheap local chained steak house, as well as Roti Sai Mai, Thai roti wrapping long sugar strings, and I still suspect it has some relations to the previous van terminal to Ayutthaya, which is also famous for the same roti.

We're regulars of Eat Am Are, very good value. I forgot to add their picture in there. I never fancied living round there although I'm a regular visitor. Used to be a lot more street food all over the place in the 2000s. Luckily it won't fall victim to the modern shopping complex syndrome sweeping and sterilising the city as it's already too crowded.

Yes. the dreaded pronounciation, the inconsistent spellings. All in a days work. I usually hope nobody notices! I enjoyed the 2 weeks I was around shooting this, sadly didn't get to interview the management of Siam Computer, our schedules clashed and as they're the longest running teaching agency it would've been great. Funny that you mention the Venus house, I just finished shooting around Lumpini/Wireless and I saw that jewellers you mention. It had to be that one as it was the only one I noticed there! I don't suppose you hear the trains and noise any more, you get used to it after a while. I live high above the BTS and still hear them, I've also lived by the main railway and under Don Muang flight path in the old days when the big planes landed at 12-6am.

Good idea, I'll probably just stick to doing a video around Little India. There is a lot of good, and bad indian food in Bangkok,

not unless you are a kid thats only 3 feet in size, they attack humans. They are so domesticated over the centuries of living near people, they dont even bother to attack cats. Lumpini park as you know has 100s, very rarely it attacked any tourists nor humans in the past. They do eat ducks and rats and at times road kills as I have seen.

Pat, BTW love your videos, have binge watched the lot, almost.
A quick question about your favourite Indian restaurant.
I Once lived close to it on Soi Rangnam with mother of my son, so know the area a little.
Anyway flying into BKK on 8th December and Mother of son coming down from Isaan to meet me (after my day’s quarantine).
Anyway the reason I mention all of this, is because I once introduced her to Indian food, and now she is obsessed, I am convinced she is only coming to meet me to get some Indian meals.
I am thinking of leaving the usual haunts and paying the Stay café a visit, purely on your recommendation
What makes it special for you ?
Would love to know, can’t risk an angry Issan girl, she’d never forgive, after the long bus ride down.

Best vindaloo I've had, chicken tikka too. And it was the first place I found that didn't use much oil, in fact they use ghee, not oil.

This video is a perfect demonstration of Bangkok's ugliness.

It's true. It can be an ugly imposing place. Even Ramkhamhaeng was ugly but it's just part of one road.
