This is the most comprehensive review comparing all these hardware streaming solutions. Over the past couple years, I’ve been using software solutions- mainly Ecamm Live and Switcher Studio. These make the case of a one-time purchase vs. subscription model products. Keep up the great content.
The cost of the YoloBox is higher than any of the others by about $300 in the US. Cost is a factor that wasn’t talked about, and something you might want to mention going forward. I was sold on the Yolo till I was the cost.
The RGB had about 6 updates since it was on the market since November: they added 50, 25 and 24 fps in and output after asking within about a month so that's quite a plus.
We have a BM ATEM Mini Pro which works very well; however, it does require another operator and plug in power. I am keen on Yolo box for simple one man band recording and live streaming solution. Thanks for the updates.
Great comparison, looking forward to hear about the Mini+! Got an RGBLink mini and I dig it a lot, missing an audio-sync mode tho. Got a little problem with it - hooked up a Canon 650D, iPhone 6s and a an iSaw GoPro and also my MacBook all devices via HDMI to the 4 HDMI in on the Mini. All cams output 1080 and should do 16:9 ratio, still my Canon 650D have a black frame around the picture making it smaller (showing through program via USB). Also the output from my MacBook into the Mini is a bit blurred kind of, not as sharp as I'd hope it would be. My iPhone have black edges left and right while the GoPro outputs a perfect 16:9 with no black borders. Sry for the long comment, do you know what the cause might be and how to fix it? Thanks & keep up the good work!
I believe there's a new firmware update/software update coming for the RGB link. Black bars are added if the aspect ratio of an HDMI input doesn't match the output normally.
I think the ATEM mini ISO is king right now, if you can afford it. Being able to record all 4 video inputs, the 2 audio inputs, and the output as separate tracks that can be edited later just seems like a no brainer to me. I'm kinda holding out to see if they have something else coming out soon but I really want to buy the ISO. However there's still room to fit more in current mini footprint. In the meantime I'm currently using the mini and OBS combo. Then I have a travel router that connects to my cellphone for remote transmission. It works really well. Had the Feelworld or RGBlink been available when I purchased my mini, I would have went with one of those instead. I even think they are a better option than the ATEM mini pro at this point. However if you are making recordings on top of or instead of streaming, you just can't beat the ISO.
@Geeky Nerdy Techy Regarding Yolobox and (multi-channel)-streaming. I was under the impression that the Yolobox only streams to the YoloLiv server. And that server will than redistribute to UA-cam, Facebook etc or multiple of these. Otherwise a single SIM card would probably not beeing able to feed multiple stream destinations. That on the other hand means that you have to put a lot of confidence into the future of that manufacture / provider. If they die or change their service portfolio you will be stuck, and the box won’t stream to anywhere, even if the box itself still woul work fine. I have had this drama with some other manufacturers who did bind the hardware to their propriatary online services.
Yep a few changed things about facebook for example. As long as yolobox support a custom rtmp server it should be fine though rtmp is pretty much the worst streaming protocol out there
If all you need is something to switch cameras when streaming to UA-cam the ATEM mini is great. I use it connected to a Chromebook with a few cameras and another Chromebook for displaying web pages, photos, or presentations and it works perfectly using just the switcher. Using a PC or Mac adds more functionality as you also get the extra features in the software.
Shane. Thanks for this review. You cleared up my questions about syncing analogue audio with HDMI. Looks like only the ATEM's will do that for me. Best wishes. Stay safe. Bruce
Yolobox FYI, I thought he was saying YELLOWbox and i couldn't find that. Price was not mentioned. the Yolobox is around $1100-1300 and the Feelworld Live Pro is under $300
Thank You for all the great videos 🙏 helping me figure this whole thing out. I've dropped a few questions in the comments of your vids. The main thing I would love to know is, are there any switcher devices that can be output to an android device? The only thing I have found is the roland golivecast which I tried and did not suit my needs. Thank You for your time 🙏
I am not too sure if any of these work with Android devices mate, sorry. The YoloBox is an android based system but if you want to plug it into a phone for example I am not sure.
Great comparison - very comprehensive. It's a shame though, that none of these has some sort of an indicator beacon output options so that something like an LED indicator light can be mounted on each camera to highlight which camera is currently being streamed - this would be a godsend for the presenter so he/she can identify which camera they should look at.
Outstanding video. One option that I did not hear was security. Our house of worship setup is in an open area. Our church is used by community organizations all week. Small devices could easily walk away. Kensington lock on any of these?
Feelworld Livepro for me all the way. I stream conferences and what I need I a simple multicamera switcher, big buttons and built-in monitor if needed. It needs to look professional (not like a large phone or a computer keyboard lol). I do not need to control it through software, just nice big buttons. The fact that it can output multiview on both HDMI and USB ports is fantastic too, since I can use it for videoconferencing, showing all speakers at once. As far as audio, I use a dedicated mixer for that. The rest is all done with OBS. Thank you for a great review 👍
@@cineffect amazing, I think i will get the livepro instead of the ATEM mini pro, I am getting a rodecaster, so should be fine... Thanks for the quick response!
@@rodrigoosorio4718 I think in Rodecaster you can correct any possible sync issues too so you should be fine. I like Livepro mainly for the built in monitor so I can use it even without a computer.
I've watched several of your vids on the HDMI mixer topic, and I have to ask the basic newb question... Why aren't there any USB (webcam) mixers in the same form? It seems to be a non-existent product, but unnecessarily omitted from the consumer market. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to do a live stream using multiple webcams if you have the mixing & switching capability.
For Atem Mini Pro - Can we connect it to the computer for Zoom, and at the same time use it to send to UA-cam and Facebook? So basically one broadcast using the computer (zoom), and 2 broadcasts using the inbuilt encoder - all at the same time?
Great Review, but I've got a question. Canon streaming to Google Meet vua EOS UTILITY, using a USB mic for church streaming services. Which do you recommend??
Great Vid. My real-world experience is: Bought the YOLO box, hated it, inconsistent, returned it. Bought the ATEM Mini Pro: love it, consistent, keeping it! It just seems like the yolo box is still in beta.
Sorry for the experience. Could you let me know more about the detail or issues that you are running into? While we have thousands of customers creating livestreaming daily, we are never happy when even one single customer has a poor experience. In this case, you've run into difficulties and we apologize that your experience was less than the high standard we expect and set.
Hi there, thank you for this video ! I wanted to ask if it is also possible to use this when using OBS with your phone (a vertical screen) ? and do you have any tips or tricks regarding this? Hope to hear from you!
Great videos! Thanks for these. Question you have kind of answered, but I'm looking for a more definitive answer....I want to get a box to do 3 camera live streams of bands, so audio sync is of utmost importance. We will be feeding a board output into the switcher. For me it's down to the Yolobox or the ATM mini pro. You mentioned in another video that you can easily sync up analog audio in the Pro, (finger snapping etc.) Is there a similar feature in the Yolobox? Thanks in advance.
I think BMD indirectly fixed some of the limitations of the Atem Mini Pro indirectly by allowing you to edit streaming.xml, where you can do some things you cannot do in the UI. So that the exact same stream (encoded the same, same image etc) can now be streamed to more than destination. Don’t have to pro myself so no experience of my own ^_^
Live pro has some audio sync issues which made it unusable for me. Atem mini is ok if you have a powerful computer to handle the encoding. Mini pro is great because it just works and does the encoding on board so you don’t need a computer. Downside is that there’s no headphones socket so you’ll need a desk to mix any audio sources effectively. YOLO I haven’t used.
Amazing and detailed! I still have my doubts which direction to go. I am a filmmaker who needs a live stream setup and bring to clients. But I don’t know what will be most important - audio or multi view. Mostly I think I want to control the audio from one input or one HDMI. Which would you recommend? I don’t have the budget for ATEM Mini Pro and Yolo. So ATEM Mini, Feelworld or RGBLINK
Thanks for this very interesting and extensive comparison. Very nicely done! Is the ATEM Mini Pro the only switcher that does support multi-view? I read on their website that RGB-link has "HDMI output as PGM or Multi-view", whatever that means? Thanks in advance.
Thanks. The video gives is a good overview. Here’s a question. How’s the side by side function? Don’t like how RGBlink resolution goes weird (stretched). Which of those you’ve tested gives a quick and simple side by side 2 channels output?
Great video, and great general review of all this products. However I don't know if you could help me: I am seriously considering the yolobox because I need to cover a live streaming with this scenario: 4 speakers; Each one with a rode wireless go; The mics receivers will be connected to the Rodcaster Pro, for controling the audio levels; Jack output from the Rodecaster to the Yolobox; 2 cameras conected to the Yolow Box, via hdmi; Live streaming to facebook and UA-cam. I liked the review, but I would have wanted to see upstream and downstream keying capability of all the live switchers. I know what the ATEM can do in this regard but not the other models.
Thanks for the review mate In my case, i would like to teach after effect or premier pro to my students thru different machine connect to a dedicated streaming pc and we gonna need sound from the application. So i should go to atem mini rather than the RGBlink right?
Thanks for this detailed lineup Shane. I recently received the Roland VR-1 HD and trying to decide between it and the Atem Mini Pro but not much content/reviews of the unit available. Please do you have any experience with it and which would you get? Many thanks in anticipation of your response. Cheers!
I think the Roland stuff is supposed to be okay but it's way more expensive and has fewer features from what I've seen in comparison to the ATEM pro or Pro ISO.
Hi man, Thanks for your wonderful review about these products, can you tell me if I can use a tablet instead of a computer with these products and with which of them ?? thank you very much
Great video. Thanks. You mentioned the audio mixing power of the ATEM. How do you monitor what this sounds like? For example if you were mixing the levels of two HDMI inputs, how do you check out what it sounds like on the fly? Is there a headphone socket on the ATEMs? Thanks.
I use 5 of these for live-streaming with my company and the easiest solution has been either plugging in head phones into your monitor or a very cheap hdmi audio exctractor.
It comes down to the audio mix. If you are using one camera and only one camera for the audio then either is fine. If you need a mix between several audio sources then the ATEM is the best.
I think this video misses out on some very important topics for livestreaming, particularly for your use case with the ability to overlay on the video streams with upstream and downstreaming keying. (Think about pulling up the name of a psalm on screen during the service, or adding lower thirds, etc.) Unless the other models allow for Upstream and downstream keying on the fly, then the ATEM Mini Pro is the only one you should consider. Check out AJtheCEO 's channel. He is doing exactly what you are looking for for Church service live streams.
I thought all need to do with Atem Pro was get the key from Facebook etc. and stream? You seem to say a third party service is required... I might be misunderstanding. Looking seriously at the Atem mini Pro. Plus I like that I can put an HD monitor on the output in preview mode and see all of my sources in preview while streaming program out via Ethernet. I would be using this in live situations with a dedicated audio, two cameras and myself TDing the events. Does the Atem mini Pro sound like proper solution to you? Any input is welcome. Thanks!
Question. LivePRO L1 can it turn on 2 HDMI (audio) inputs at the same time, example one to use for my microphone input to the camera, and the other HDMI output to turn on video and audio Viber call Thanks
Hey man! Great video thank you so much Is it true that de L1 gets really hot after a while of using? I would like to buy the rgblink but the shipping to Mexico (where I am from) are a little more expensive. Would you recommend buying L1 instead of rgblink?
They all get warm. I had no issues with the LivePro on a glass table after 6 hours of use. The heat sync on the RGB is probably a helpful option depending on your location.
I bought Blackmagic Atem Mini and i sold it last mount. I have a lot of bug with audio sync from my mixer. I format my pc, change cables etc. Bug again. I know OBS can fix a part of the bug. But the tip i foud is to send the audio direct to one camera of my 3 camera from mixer. I hate to do that thing because i loosing audio quality. Do you think that bug is because i probably bought a first generation Atem Mini ?
Did you upgrade the firmware on the ATEM? My first generation ATEM Mini Pro lasted a week because of audio drift. I have a mixer video on the way that handles external audio really well or even check out my AV Matrix review that one is also excellent for audio. Before the firmware upgrade on the ATEM you couldn't off-set-sync the 3.5mm audio jacks. Once that was a thing, it was easily corrected.
Thanks so much for your video, it really helpful. My question is can FEELWORLD LIVEPRO L1 work with SONY HXR-MC2500 because the camera only output 570i and not 1080.
I think the conclusion with a comparison video is what works best for your particular situation. In the dedicated reviews at the end of the video I always give my final thoughts about a product. Many thanks :)

Thanks.
There's no headphone socket sadly so you'll need to do a test stream or if you are going out via OBS you can listen to it from a computer. :)
I use 5 of these for live-streaming with my company and the easiest solution has been either plugging in head phones into your monitor or a very cheap hdmi audio exctractor.
Brother If I Ask You which one would u buy rgblink or atem if you hv to stream church like services in different different churches /temples
It comes down to the audio mix. If you are using one camera and only one camera for the audio then either is fine. If you need a mix between several audio sources then the ATEM is the best.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy is there any difference in picture quality
They both look very similar picture quality wise. I can’t tell a difference.
My only issue with these is that I have moved on from rtmp livestreaming to srt/hls and these units never seem to support that
Thanks for the info! I need to learn about that as I haven't heard of it before. :)
Thanks!
You can stream directly to the web with a key but to only one service. If you want to multi-cast you’ll need a paid service.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thank you!!
Question.
LivePRO L1 can it turn on 2 HDMI (audio) inputs at the same time, example one to use for my microphone input to the camera, and the other HDMI output to turn on video and audio Viber call Thanks
10:02 - Audio Options
Hey man! Great video thank you so much
Is it true that de L1 gets really hot after a while of using?
I would like to buy the rgblink but the shipping to Mexico (where I am from) are a little more expensive.
Would you recommend buying L1 instead of rgblink?
Why not YoloBox?
@@frankfengzhu because a I need the 4 inputs
They all get warm. I had no issues with the LivePro on a glass table after 6 hours of use. The heat sync on the RGB is probably a helpful option depending on your location.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy great man! Thank you so much
Has the "ATEM Mini 45-60 Minute Audio Drift Streaming Issue" been fixed, as you said in this video, or is it still an issue? Thanks
I haven't had any issues with it lately since a few updates ago now :)
I believe the minimum is 720p resolution.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thank you.
We needed a conclusion section
I think the conclusion with a comparison video is what works best for your particular situation. In the dedicated reviews at the end of the video I always give my final thoughts about a product. Many thanks :)
@@GeekyNerdyTechy haha ya. Amazon was like "shipped tomorrow" and i just had to decide fast. Thanks for making the great video
guess you'll have to redo this video in a week ;-)
👍
sdi > hdmi
that’s all i’ll say
Yeah but SDI is not common for most consumer level gear.
