In the summer of 1983 I saw Saxon with Maiden. One of the best shows ever. Saxon were supporting Power & the Glory and Maiden were doing the Piece of Mind of tour. Those were the days.
I SEEN THEM ALSO N 1983! 7/26/83 ALBUQUERQUE NM. FIRST TIME SEEING MAIDEN, SAXON, FASTWAY. WHAT A NIGHT! TICKETS WERE ONLY $19.95!! I STILL HAVE MY TICKET...
Brings a tear to my eye everything I hear Grahm tear into that solo...wish the originals can one day reunite...I love the current lineup albums but to hear them again would be great - NWOBHM FAN USA
@@johnlocke1810 what you talking about. I was there 1980s NWOBHM - saw Saxon Live at Maine Rd Manchester Steel Whees Tour. Try telling the 60,000 there is wasn’t HM. It was it is it was great. 747 is another fab song of theirs. very heavy.

I saw the tour in 87, at Dayton Ohio - when saxon took 3 encores -& ENDED UP blowing Malmsteen right off his own headline stage ! HAHA awesome show CROWD was just like this one - CRAZY as hell ! it was great !
One of my favorite Saxon songs. That guitar solo has been burned into my brain since the first time I heard it. Makes me a little sad to think that was 25 years ago. What I wouldn't give to relive those days....
Saxon are the perfect heavy rock group and even now put on a great show [despite most of them having bus passes]. They have penned some truly memorable sing-a-long metal songs - I doubt if any other rock group has produced as many anthem-like songs.
Saxon and Manowar deserve way more attention in North America than they got, great bands!!! -D1pm is brilliant-great tribute to JFK and of course "Denim and Leather" is so perfect-it speaks directly to us who were there for that golden age-'80 to '85.
heard this song about 40 years ago this still listen to it still kicks ass at my home enjoying this song in San Antonio Texas saxson is one of my favorite bands
Fuck YEAH Ronnie... right on ! I stumbled on these guys by accident in a South American record store, just because I loved the album cover ! (was in the military on deployment @ that time). 25 years later... I still love this stuff !! Rock the FUCK ON Saxon... and love live Metal !!
Damn, I was mesmerized when I heard this song for the first time back in '82. I was a kid of 12 then, just discovering a NWOBHM. A schoolmate's older brother had a quite impressive collection of records and we were listening this stuff after school at his place. Saxon, Judas Priest, BOC, Motorhead, Iron Maiden.... This was the stuff that marked the last years of my primary school. And I was lucky enough to see them in '83 live. Awesome experience for me back then. And I still remember some fragments of that concert. Especially this song, the moment the president is shot @3:11: the lights turn off, bang, bang, bang, three shots in total darkness, then a white light turns on, illuminating a rotating disco ball which throws a starry light around the whole place. Unforgettable.
50 years ago today, when JFK was assassinated, we still mourn his passing. This song rocks!! What a great tune by a great, classic metal band like Saxon!!
Sempre quando vejo esse ao vivo me emociono, e acredito que emociona todo verdadeiro fã de Heavy Metal. Isso é uma verdadeira aula de metal, falta palavras para definir o quanto isso é maravilhoso.
It has been 27 years for me since this song came out. I have a very nice Saxon memorabilia collection, still love em!!!!! Listen to them all of the time!
Memories! I've been to Donington, SECC, NEC, Newcastle & Nottingham arenas, MK Bowl, Leeds festival, Earls Court, etc to see all sorts of bands and absolutely nothing beats Saxon on the '84 Crusader tour at Newcastle City Hall. I was also at Hammersmith to see them when they recorded the takes they used for the Radio One Friday Rock Show. As I say ... memories. Fond memories!
Wow , great video and performance of this song , takes me back to 80/81 , surely one of the greatest times in British rock history, so many amazing Bands at the same time . Saxon deserved more. Credit.
Saxon absolutely rules. They need to come to California. The last time I saw these guys was back in the late 80's. It's hard to beat the Maiden/Saxon/Fastway tour of '83.
Very Metal! Vivian was always sporting the Saxon concert shirt on the Young Ones sitcom. Classic performance and video. The 80's were one of a kind for music.
this is my favorite saxon song. strong arm of the law was the first saxon album i ever bought. i've still got that vinyl. i bought it back in 1983! saxon rules!
One of the best live bands on this planet till today. Saw them at Winterthur and at Wacken this year. The Wacken Gig was the best concert I've ever seen!
When I first heard them in 1983, I knew they were special, 40 years later still top 2 bands. Wish I could have seen them open for Rush. Need a time machine.
Concordo, sou fã de carteirinha do Saxon desde 1983 e esse solo ficava perfeito com o Graham Oliver, fui em um show em 2011 SP, showzaço, mas nessa música, faltou o Graham.
Totally agree with you ..george1, they truly are a cracking live act. Saw them in Bristol a few weeks ago with Doro as support. Doro also duetted on 747 Strangers In The Night.
Wow mycommentuserid That is exactly what I wanted to write mycommentsuerid. Dallas 1pm is a great live tune... One of the best live shows I ever saw was Triumph/Saxon back in '80 at the Palace Theatre, Albany, NY... $6 to get in!!
This is F#king ace, I'm a L5 bass player, it's not massively complicated, but it smashes it in a way 1 million notes a second can't. There is soul here, if you know what I mean...
This is probably one of their best tunes. There are quite a few good ones though. For hard check out 'Sixth Form Girls' that is one of my favorite Saxon songs. I wish someone would post it.
I see there are a bunch of 80s metal heads / Saxon fans here. I was the only guy in my class (82) that listened to Saxon. I saw them five times in the 80s. Draggin my GF to the shows...lol, She was more of a Journey fan. She hated it. Saxon blasting our heads for while was Goooood for me!
The lyrics arent cheesey. They tell a good story. What makes these guys so good is thier ability to capture that thick Marshall sound out of thier amps and onto vynl. (back in the day) Also the harmonies of the guitar players really made the music grove. The drums on this song really drive the song home. The beat rocks with a metal heart!!
Obviously you aren't the only one. I am a Hard Rock Rocker but you are absolutely correct. Saxon had a sense of melody missing from most from most metal band's. The Harmony of Melody is what we remember not the crashing of Hard Notes. Saxon is British Metal Royalty. I rather listen to them than Iron Maiden.
