What an excellent rendition! Incredible clarity in the enunciation. Amen!
That congregation is incredibly lucky to have you. I grew up in a church with a talented organist and top-notch choir director, and it instilled in me a lifelong love of liturgical music. If sometimes the music director pushes the congregation a bit, that's a good thing. Music doesn't have to be stodgy or "traditional" to inspire and uplift. In listening to your other recordings from Easter week, it seems you have struck a very nice balance. And you definitely do that lovely organ justice!
Let's just appreciate the fact that he's doing the playing, conducting and page turning himself!
How I wish to be an organist of that cathedral
Directing with your head! 😂🤣 Now that’s talent! 😉
Never would have heard this at Crystal Cathedral! Unfortunately.
Incorrect, It was performed often at the Crystal Cathedral.
Actually it was Fred Swann's Crystal Cathedral-era video of this work that inspired me to program it!

How many voices are singing in this performance?
Sounds like a quartet + a few extras?of operatic trained voices, this the slight tunning issues but powerful enough to fill the space !
Very good musical ability. But in the liturgy, that is not what matters. Music must be at the service of the sacred text, making its exegesis and helping the faithful to pray well.
