I am so glad I joined this channel!! How I wish you lived here in NW Montana near my wife and me. All of “Western Montana” is spelunking / caving / cave scuba HEAVEN!!!! And yet, you never hear much about it!! We have cave after cave after cave that run thousands of feet, and many caves that no one knows how deep, they are / how deep they go.
We have a lot of cave to explore. The middle earth cave system lies 1.5 k away and 200 m higher. Went back after this trip and explored some super exciting river passage. Got stopped by a big cascade.
Bruce and i dived it a few months ago. Not a bad dive. Quite tight in places. We laid about 150 m of line. Passage keeps going. Would be nice to go back one day
Didn't realise you spoke Welsh, Kieran?!!! Cracking job, though: was great to see that place from the comfort of my arm chair and was awesome to see the final series beyond that pitch. Almost makes me tempted to scrape the rust off my diving gear. Almost, but not quite ;-)
Thanks Joel. I cannot speak Welsh. The closest I have got to speaking welsh is through my ancestors who spoke spoke Gaelic. :-) , that was quite a while ago. Thats Maori, one of the principle languages of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Loved it! You show me the best stuff. Loved the prayer/poem. It sounds Maori. Something about the Maori culture rings in my soul. Thanks for sharing Kieran.
Thanks very much for watching :-) The beginning is Maori, the starts with a mihi and a karakia. I find that karakia really hits the right spot for me and I often find myself reciting it when the going gets a little dodgy :-)
Epic caving Kieran pushing the known limits and filming, amazing. It is not a very friendly environment, the entrance series recent, nasty broken rock and later on at the last pitch again sharp jagged edges. not a place to make mistakes. Fantastic video journal, culturally respectful of the earth and tangata whenua. By the way, what is the music?
Bloody awesome…is this a virgin cave Kieran or the length has already been measured?? I don’t think I heard you mention it…..anyhoo, great video, great to catch up with your adventures. Best of luck from England.
That was brilliant Kieran. I think you've made a definite step forward in terms of video production there. Btw, I've bumped into both Martin and Joel, who you mention in the film, separately in the last couple of years. Hadn't seen either for more than a decade before that!
@@KieranMckayNewZealandCaving no need to be sorry. You are an amazing cave explorer. One of the best, actually. I have the deepest respect for you and your crew.
@@KieranMckayNewZealandCaving I do have one question.. forgive my ignorance, I'm just a Washington/Oregon caver .. when you mentioned the name Martyn were you referring to Martyn Farr from Wales or a Martyn from NZ? I know Martyn Farr dove caves in NZ and broke new ground but otherwise you are the greatest player in the southern hemisphere. I don't know any other Martyn. Like i said before, please excuse my ignorance.
@@KieranMckayNewZealandCaving that's awesome!! I am starting to see.. thanks for opening my eyes! Martin Groves has caved up in Canada a lot with Nick V.

Hi mate 👍 following your work on you tube . Keep doing the good stuff. By the way , it's me from the hut last night. Was great to chat with you 👍
It was lovely to meet you at the hut. I hope your night went well. Enjoy the stories :-)
nice music! Beautiful cave, clean sculpted limestone, clear water. How much further does it go ?

Brilliant Kieran. I’ve not caved for nearly a year now so watching you reminds me of what’s to come.
Thanks for watching and your comment. I hope you get back underground soon
Another great video Kieran! Do you know if anyone has dove the sump at the end of the Clifden caves in southland?

The stuff at the end of the cave up the waterfalls is al virgin passage. Pretty exciting place

Thanks Huw. I am slowly learning the production skills. Can only get better and better I suppose.
Excellent!! Been waiting a while for this, Kieran. Cheers!!
Sorry it has taken so long. My creative enthusiasm waxes and wanes so some projects take a while.
