Loved the video, Shane! You’ve got me so excited about what the future could hold for Apple Vision Pro as a smart home controller.

Great video, thanks Shane. I’m not currently considering a Vision Pro but I want to stay up to date on this tech. I enjoy watching your experimenting and insights on the product. Keep up the good work. ⚡️

I have a AVP, partly for what it does today, and partly for how it will evolve. I think it’d be interesting to see if anyone could make an immersive environment that could simulate the smart lighting products that extend colors or add effects (like extended lightning and thunder in a rainy scene) but that seems like it’d be a ways off. What I really am hoping for short-term is more social aspects (like SharePlay), Widgets, and an Undo gesture :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It will be exciting to watch VisionOS grow and see what app developers bring to the platform.

Your dog looking at you like please don't go out in public with that on lol. Great video as always!

😅 Really more like my daughter is thinking that. I tease that I'm going to wear it out in public to her events and such. She REALLY does not want me to do it...

Love the video and discussion about the future with this device and HomeKit 👍. I’m sure 3rd party developers will come up with some amazing features that will keep HomeKit exciting and fun to use for years.

Super cool! I’ll try that when I get my Vision Pro 😎

Hey Shane, awesome video, as always. I didn’t know a lot of developers. Were that far along with division pro regarding Apple home! I’m very excited to see what they do in the future. It sounds like the home UI could benefit from Apple adding more gestures say if you turn your Wrist, counterclockwise or clockwise you could change the color or if you’re looking at an item and you raise your hand up in a hello gesture, it could then raise or lower the lights down. I would be interested in you possibly interviewing some of the developers and posting it as a UA-cam video I think that would be very insightful and he could probably get some feedback from your readers on what they want to see Inc. in future Vision Pro as well as otherApple products that they are making.

Some of the third party apps you showed here have done a lot within a very small time window. I can’t wait to see what they do next. Shane, I do have a question for you. Does the AVP let you have multiple versions of the same app/part of an app open at the same time? For example, can you have an Apple Home dashboard open in your office and your back patio at the same time? I know live camera feeds have limits regardless of the platform, but what about triggers from one of the third party apps or status data from the Home app?
    Thanks for the great video.

I’m seeing your point and to take this concept one step further we only have to look at Elon’s Neuralink project where you’ll eventually be able to simply think about turning the lamp on/off, changing the channel on the tv, making the room warmer or cooler to make it happen. Until then a finger gesture will work but maybe blinking twice for on or off might be in the works for V2? Great insight as always Shane! 💪😎👍

Do the buttons you place disappear when you remove the headset like they do with shortcuts and browsers?

Invisible triggers shouldn’t be hard……just like Rigidbodies in Unity are invisible.
Or maybe I mean box colliders ha

Thanks Shane for your perspective on what the future could/should hold . . . very cool and a little scary :). Now if they could just get the vision pro device to be the size of a typical pair of glasses . . . probably not as far off as I may think!

Homekit compatible devices should have something built-in where they'd be automatically recognized then options to interact

Shane, really enjoyed the video. There are a few apps that I actually use on every day basis when I use my Vision Pro.
Focused Work - Pomodoro Timer, OmniPlan, and Runestone Text Editor for work. Although watching this video gave me smart home ideas to consider.

One day, it will be cool to control our homes manually, like actually pressing the light switches on and it will be AWESOME!

I feel like a lot of people are going to look at this and be like "Where is the real use here?". I thought that same at first, and if we only consider the CURRENT state of technology I would agree. But imagine if you will a future headset that isn't much more than a pair of glasses. Then things change - a lot.

I don't have an AVP, but am interested to see how it develops as a product. It's possible that I might go for a second or third generation version of it. Having more homekit features in the "spacial environment" of an AVP could be very cool, although it's the kind of "cool" which I think might wear off pretty quickly. I'm not going to want to put on an AVP to control smart devices around my house. And the other issue is that if I configure some cool smarthome controls in my AVP, that does not help anyone else - not even if they have their own AVP. AVP's are very personalized devices.
Still, I am interested in having cool smart-device features in an AVP which would be available to me if I did buy my own AVP. Those features would be available only when I'm wearing it, but at least I would have these very convenient controls reachable in space while I was wearing it.

Thanks for the comment. Yea I don't think it's so much about putting on the AVP just to control your smart home, but rather to have the options available once you are already using it.

Interesting, but the whole point of HomeKit and automation is voice control having another manual control, headset, or not, really isn’t that special, it’s about voice control, and automation

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  3 місяці тому

Thanks for sharing your insight. I'd respectfully disagree. While voice control is important, it is but one form of input or control and not what I'd consider "the whole point" of HomeKit. Some people love to use siri to control their smart home.... others (like my wife) hate it and would much rather use another method. I think one of the great things about HomeKit is that you can use any variety of methods: any Apple device, Siri voice commands, automations, manual controls, etc.
VisionOS brings a whole new way of computing, so I'd love to see some more innovation around the smart home in this new platform.

Just have to wear the headset 24/7. But wearing a pair of sunglasses for 3D tv was "unwanted?"

Seems like a gimmicky, ultra expensive, toy. I’ll bet it would excel at gaming though. Bring on the games and I’d definitely consider.
