It would certainly benefit many people who work in any kind of administration work to do so over the phone as can be and has been done for decades. Cutting out commutes removes an unproductive middleman associated with all kinds of jobs that are purely info based. The information highway can take so many of us off of the actual highway most of us neither want nor need to be on, and do so out of habit inherited from the Eisenhower generation. Unfortunately most people are enamored with driving and would rather go to the office when given the option, as they have never even known better, and even knowing now still think this a novelty to come and go and that will be the end of it.
