You are actually right about the storyline.
Being creepy in a subtle form might be the main storyline here. All of them have individual quirks or powers. Super Strength, Light Manipulation, Penetration Vision, Slow Motion/Super Sneeze (XD), and telekinesis. I think they're all trying to escape this 'backroom' that you've mentioned.
But the concept is dope. They're all trying to be cutesy and stuff but creepy.

Thisss, as a listener and potential album buyer etc as long as they give you great memorable music (and let's be real also because they're from a known company for great music) there's going to be lots of purchase and business wise the company knows who's going to debut anyway, so just enjoy the music

i remember voting for each episode and getting stressed out. The lineup was like 2 of 6 that people were pushing for, but i think it worked out well.

But I LOVED the RUN song and had it on repeat for weeks and Wonhee was so good in it. I understand why others were upset with their mind set on something specific, and perhaps most of my picks being eliminated before the finale readjusted by expectations, but I don't understand how people could have watched Wonhee in Aim High/RUN and still be worried. Her improvement was crazy. She'll keep getting better.

runext was a ride, the final lineup no one expected, lots of good contestants got eliminated and twitter/reddit was a mess. In the end, the company had a vision for a group that the audience couldn't see, so everyone was like wtf is going on.

4:12 They have Y2K concept but they just remixed it with dreamcore and modern day style. That's why at first glance it feels like newjeans mv but if you watch it over and over again, you will realize it's actually y2k but with some additional changes.

You are probably right they will possibly release a studio album for their first comeback in this fall. TXT debuted in March 2019 and came out with a studio album in Oct 2019.
However, Summer Moon is a webtoon which could indicate a storyline for their studio album.
