Those are too cute 😍! I want to make my own birthday cake this year which is this Friday the 4th. I want maybe a two layer cake and I'm going to try to decorate it. Do you have a go to video you can recommend with a homemade cake and buttercream icing? I've only made bundt (pound cakes) before from scratch not so much the round pans and I think the two pans I do have are 9 inches. This is what I kind of have in mind. So I have box of jello cheesecake pudding and a box of raspberry flavored jello. Do you think this would be good to incorporate into a cake recipe? The raspberry jello would be a swirl inside the cake.

Hi Clonique! Thank you so much! ❤️ I have attached a link for my buttercream recipe video below. I realized that I have several videos with different cake recipes that I've made, but I don't have a video with my favorite vanilla cake recipe in it. That's definitely on the list of to-do videos now... lol. I can't believe I haven't already put that one on here. 😬 I will be glad to share that recipe with you. When I'm adding a special flavor to my cakes, I always start with that recipe. The Cheesecake pudding sounds like it will add amazing flavor to the cake! 😋 I've never swirled jello into a cake, but it sounds interesting. I'm definitely going to have to try it sometime! I'm sure your birthday cake will be amazing! You'll have to let me know how it turns out. 😊
      Vanilla cake recipe....
      1 stick salted butter
      1/2 cup canola oil
      1 1/2 cups sugar
Cream all 3 together until smooth...
      Add...
      3 eggs
      1 1/2 cups buttermilk
      1 tbsp vanilla
      Mix well....
      Add....
      3 cups flour
      1 tbsp baking powder
      Mix just until combined.
I would add the dry pudding mix in with the other dry ingredients at the end.
Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes depending on the size of your pans. I usually make three 8" round layers with this recipe. You can put it in two 9", but it may take a little longer to bake. I would start checking it at 25 minutes, with a toothpick. When it has just a couple of crumbs on the toothpick it is perfect! Hope this helps! 🤗

@@ChellsSugarRush Thank you so much! I will give it a try. Could I use whole milk instead of buttermilk? That's the only milk I have for now.

@@clonique1214 That would probably be fine. You can also make your own buttermilk, if you have white vinegar or lemon juice at home. You would just add a tablespoon of one of those to it. And let it sit about 5 minutes to create the acidity. 😉
