i'm a 11 years old and i do judo iam a red belt you looked good remember a black belt is just a white belt that got dirty from lots and lots of practice
No celebrating as a white belt… don’t ever take your eye off your opponent… bow looking. Don’t keep the same grip… slow down a bit… you have amazing potential.
@@rac4058 No, actually the bow, as it was meant by Jigoro Kano Shihan, should last 3 seconds, during which the judoka, if male, must look ahead. Only women, in theory, should bow looking down. Now, that's the theory, and we should keep in mind that judo was born in 1882 and that it comes from Ju-Jutsu, which is much, much older. Consequentially the culture was very different at the time and, personally, I think it would be pointless to judge.
I just know this guy will be a beast in a year or more, nothing feels better than winning your first tournament and have the feeling of you're getting better
This was pretty sweet, man. Great first showing; much better than mine. That Sasae at the end was really nice, too. I'm hoping to do much better at my next tournament.
Let me know how you do in your next tournament! Keep training hard and always ask higher belts what you can continue to improve on. The black belts at my dojo have done a lot for me in order to see me improve.
In all honesty, if you are unable to find a Judo dojo then BJJ will work just fine as they will still be learning fundamental skills for grappling. Once they're able to build a foundation, it'll help to drill takedowns (which BJJ does also have). Hope this helps.
You have some great timing and intuition. You should work on your grips alot tho. The right vs right default grip is a horrible habit if you get to a certain level
@@AngelJudo yeah, switching to left grip is good if you get stuck. You undo your opponents grip that way and you can go for a right ippon seoi nage with the left grip. Also you can try to get your right hand over the top or underneath, this way you can easier to control your opponent and have more leverage.
@@Memeshollanda I feel you, after this tournament it did enhance my understanding of the art. The grips are an area ive been trying to drill in order to mix up different throws.
Honestly what helped me most was just going in there for the experience. Going into competition allows you to figure out what your style is. As a beginner myself I just went in there and did my thing. Best of luck in competition!
Find a nearby dojo and go. They'd give you better advice as it will typically be 3-4 months before you'll have enough basics for your first competition. So much to learn, but training in the club is can be similar to actual competitions -- same area, officials, scoring, etc. The only difference is you know the people you are sparing with. They'll get your ready. Looking back 40 years ago, my only advice for your first match is... take your socks off. I was 12 and so nervous I forgot to take my socks off. LOL.
foot sweeps have the potential to end a match fast and out of nowhere. they are an insane tool and can catch your opponent off guard, even if it fails can always lead into other techniques from it
Well done. Work on sliding your feet and stopping the bouncing. The higher grades you train with are probably already catching you more than they should because of that.
Good on you, keep it up. Also, that loss should’ve been a Waze Ari, rather than an Ippon, not saying you would’ve beaten him, but still… Keep us updated on your progression.

Isn't looking at your opponent while bowing disrespectful?

Why does this look like a normal fight that you see though in a school corridor all their doing is tackling each other to the ground

Any tips on where to have kids take Judo classes in northeast Ohio? Can’t find a place. Everything is BJJ or Tae kwon do

When you picked your gi did you pick one size smaller to make it more fitted? If so is that the reason your gi skirt is smaller?
At the time, that gi was a size 4, which was most likely not for me already. It shrunk by the time of the tournament.
