When a beautiful song like this is performed just right, I always cry. This song truly comes from some place within. Even when I perform it, it's hard to get to the end without the crowd noticing how it effected me. You truly sang it Sheena.
The first person I heard sing this song was Lisa McHugh. Later I discovered Cara Dillon's version. Also, I visited Ireland in Oct 2017, shortly before the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. A tour guide drove me through Belfast & showed me this wall that divides where the Protestants live from where the Catholics live. As a guitarist myself, I am always delighted to find on UA-cam another person with talents similar to mine. Keep up the good music. :)
this song took me back i can remmember hearing this song ring through the hillside at loyalist funerals my old house sat on the republic/north line and u would hear this ring out almost everyother day my brothers why must we fight isnt 800 years long enough im republic and im tired of the war
This is a wonderful song and you sing it amazingly. Very good! Thank you for learning these songs, their messages and for sharing them so well with others using your great skills and talents.
In the original, it said that Issac was one for dancing... It's hard to think of someone so live so freely, and then think of them dead... This song always put tears in my eyes, and I dare say, you sing it with more emotion than Tommy Sands or Cara Dillon. It's the words and the sincerity that make a song moving!
rest gentle, Allan Bell and Sean O'Malley, the both of ye...well ye know it goes on still. I'm sure ye helped wee Micky-bo get settled in. now it's just a matter of waiting for the rest of us to join the lot of ye. Oiche mhaith
Great work again. Enjoy listening to you perform. Great stage presence as always. Do you know "Four Green Fields" or am I in the wrong culture? Keep posting. Mike
accidentallyinlove4 You beat me to the punch a chara. I was going to do a video to Jim McCann's version. BRILLIANT song a chara. You have such a wonderful and beautiful voice ;) Definatley worthy of 5*'s!! If you could find a way to put your stings to Phil Coulter's 'The Town I Loved So Well' I'd be forever indebted to you :D Slán leat, GC88.
