- In this week's guitar lesson, you'll learn how to play a country blues guitar composition by yourself on acoustic guitar (no jam track needed). To make it work on it's own, you'll need to outline the chord changes by the notes you choose. Explained in the video!

"Singing with my fingers..." perhaps the best description of improvising I've ever heard. Exactly how I see it; I've heard smokin' leads in my head for years and always wished I could make them come out through my fingers. Thanks to Active Melody I'm making that a reality. Cheers to Brian and his Finger Songs!
'Art vs Science'? Interesting comment by Brian in part two of this piece in which he addresses the frustration some people feel when they want full technical explanations for what is going on. I think Brian always combines the technical and the artistic - he explains where the notes are coming from (which scale), which notes he is targeting, the timing intricacies etc. but also emphasises having fun, loosening up and just trying things.
The stand alone melodies are my favorite
That little Martin sounds awesome. (You too)
Perfect! Love the concept of being able to improvise and making it sound like a song! 🎶💕
I always enjoy playing along with you Brian. I can usually keep up after awhile and it makes it much more fun than playing alone.
You make that Martin guitar sound so good, i love the bluegrass country melody:)
Very Jerry. Which is just great.
Very nice Brian. Snd yes I agree that guitar sounds great.
Awesome. I love your Lessons... Greetings from Germany
Great, looking forward to practising this all week
I just cant explain how amazing,
Excellent video lesson and tab!!!
Thank you so much ❤
I just got my CEO 7 the other day. Now I just have to learn how to sound like you.
As great as he sounds, surely you would rather sound like yourself?
What a great lesson!
Nice to finally meet you at Kimbro’s last Friday Brian. What a nice and generous guy to share your talents with us. Hope to see you again soon.
Thanks, it was nice meeting you - albeit briefly. I looked for you after that but didn't see you. Didn't want you to think I was ignoring you!
Another fantastic lesson, many thanks. For some reason (even though I play a little piano as well), I tend to fly right past C and play mostly in E, G, A or D
Very good thanks
Ladies and gentlemen this is the guitar teacher goat
Looking forward to this, first like!!!!
Well I’ve got my weekend sorted out.
So the mixolydian scale is the five chord of the one chord. Just start on the five chord root note. Wow !
yep
Sounds like blue yodel number 9
How much for the tabs? Absolutely brilliant!
Love your lessons so easy to understand with so much information. Can i ask you if you have done a Rory Gallagher type blues style and i not would you be open to one?
I haven’t - good idea though
@@activemelody Thanks for the reply and I know there are so many great guitarists but I saw Rory Gallagher when I was 18 (now 71) in Croydon, London and he was magical. May I also say you are one fantastic guitarist and phenomenal teacher I learn so much from you even though I've been singing and playing guitar now for over 50 years. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
Lovely tune, but great sounding guitar. What model is it?
Martin CEO-7
The fret point is not positioned very well on this guitar. You have to be attentive. Another great lesson Brian.
@@willischeyltjens2980 what does that mean?
Sorry Brian, I only see 1 dot on fret 5 and 12. I also wish to see one on 3 (G) and 7 (B). Pure habit.
That Martin looks too new and fresh. Prefer Brian playing his road worns.
