@@Gronmin yeah. Had no idea I what I was supposed to upgrade on my first run lol. The wonderful final storm music was supported by a symphony of death bells as like 30 people lived in the end
I really enjoyed the first game. I managed to save scum my way to the best ending on the hardest difficulty on my first try. Definitely have plans to play this game at some point.
Been playing it for several hours now in it's early release and I've made it to Chapter 3 along with a couple hours in the Utopia mode. Very solid game. It's similar to the first game; but is much deeper with it's political system.
I hope to see more praise for the UI in the game. It feels so natural to use and is very "smart" to what you want to click on next. Keeps the game flowing really nicely. It's also very thematic and immersive, something that is exceedingly rare in games these days.
I am absolutely loving this game. What an epic sequel. It perfectly upscales the tebtion and drama. In the first game you're dealing with dozens of citizens, in this one it is thousands. So cool.
well thats what made the first game so good, you only had a couple hundred settlers max so every time people died you had to quickly manage their needs otherwise you'd run out of workers. this game literally opens up with 3000 people, i dont give a shit if 10 died from sickness.
Hardest working man on UA-cam! I seriously don’t know how you find the time to bring us all this content but I’m sure glad to have it. Keep up the excellent work Mortym!
Having played the first one for like 40 or 50 hours, I did like it but I didn't love it. Everything about the sequel though makes me really love it from what I've seen so far. The thing I love the most are the outposts you build in other territories to bring back ressource to your main city. I found it very similar to Anno 1800 and I quite like it this way.
@@kylelopez7631exactly. Some people are thrilled by it, but Frostpunk just makes me sad and miserable. Glad the fans get more of what they want, and so far it seems to be what they were hoping for!
Normies will never let a city builder survival game win Game of the year. I'd be happy to see something other than RPGs and FPS games, but I don't think if the casual gamers that actually will let it happen.
Sadly you can’t really “check out” most games, you buy them and you’re committed to a purchase. Yes there’s Steam Refunds, but a mere 2 hours isn’t long enough to adequately judge most games given the complexity of many modern games. Only a generous demo solves this problem, and a lot of games don’t have demos, thus we rely on trusted reviewers like you Mort!
Some mechanics are a little too game-y. Like, why frostbreaking 8 tiles at a time ? Why not just cost/time per tile and let player choose ? Why 6 tile for a district a time ? Why not 6 - 12 right away so we don't have to expand it later ? So on and stuff like that.
@@yondeefeedz I don't want to go into too much detail, but I feel like they've taken away a lot of player agency, which makes the game less engaging. Many of the mechanics have been simplified, and overall, it just doesn't feel like a Frostpunk game to me. I'll stick with the original whenever I need my Frostpunk fix.

honestly like the look of this more then the first one not that i don't like the first one (it's very good and super atmospheric) but i like this a bit more
I wish I could like a game like this, I love the world, the graphics, the visual style and all the smaller details of the dialogue and events. But the gameplay is just not my kind of game, such a shame. Also, gotta give props to whoever was in charge of the UI, that's some real clean and nice UI work.
This really snuck up on me. I loved the original even if the same bug really soured my runs. There's too many games this time of year but I'll definitely check it out in the future
Thanks for the video. Maybe this gets away from it, but colony sims seem to just overstuff RNG events to distract you from whatever the core gameplay is. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
I loved the first Frostpunk, and I'm happy to see that they kept enough of the original for the sequel to feel part of the series, while also innovating and going in more depth for a lot of their systems. This will likely be a day one purchase for me, as I've been looking forward to it since they announced it.
I love your content but I’m not really interested in this game. I do have a question. Have you done or can you do a video explaining your process of fully completing games?
It is good but does not have the same vibe as Frostpunk 1. It has less of a humanist touch and is more of a city-builder. People are sick, die, tortured, grudge, cry ... just can't feel that it just a number on a spreadsheet
No way my previous leader survived for 30 years after my Frostpunk 1 save lol
Fr man I accidentally never upgraded lodging. Bros froze in their tents by the hundreds :(
I'd be surprised if mine lasted a week

Someone more competent than you took over that save.
Your ending "may you wander in wisdom and have an amazing day" is so engraved into my mind I've almost ended phone calls with it on several occasions
