You two are watching some great shows on your channel. Not many people are reacting to older anime even if they 10/10, because unfortunately it wouldn't get them alot of views, so I hope you would like it.
I've always loved how the first episode ends the same way it starts, just showing that this is just another day in the life of the Bebop crew. Bittersweet endings at best, absolutely soul crushing when it wants to be. Legendary series, number one in my top three of all time.
Remember having Cartoon Network on in the background then getting snapped into attention by that opening? Badum bamp bam bum bum bum... That loose bass starts slapping doo doo da dum bum...
Awesome. Glad you two are watching this. If you're worried about the previews at the end spoiling the next episode, they won't. The character commentary is also quirky and fun to listen to. 😂
The lady nailed it when she said this show had "drip". What a great way to describe something that couldn't be described in 1998. This piece of work is SO great to get into for the first time as an ADULT. It is special. I came to it when I was in the 8th grade and I've been diehard since. Now I'm 36 and still nuts about this show.
The opening song - “Tank!” - is composed by Yoko Kanno and is a masterpiece. Doing COVID (the first year when it was rough) she asked the Seatbelts - the band performing it for Cowboy Bebop to play it for the fans in a virtual session. It was such a treat in dark times!! (Video here: ua-cam.com/video/2VsgkIE-RHg/v-deo.html) Cowboy Bebop is a CLASSIC!! Thank you for reacting to it :)
Hell yea. Thank you guys for doing that poll. I'm so glad Cowboy Bebop won. Be interesting to see what anime noobs think about this classic. Hope you like some amazing original music. Who else remembers waking up at 3 am to the theme song Tank! when they were a kid?
I haven't found a better series yet, and I don't think I will in my lifetime. The pacing and the music are paired beautifully, the writing is clever and emotional, and the overall story and vignettes are compelling, leaving you wanting more. Cowboy Bebop, to me, is THE golden standard in animated storytelling. I appreciate that you took the time to share your thoughts at the end and not merely react during the episode.
Ok pause… wow I’m only 1:59 into this reaction and I’m already impressed. I watch anime reactions in general for fun especially for my favorites like cowboy bebop and it’s rare to see anyone - #1 point out that he recognized those as hyper space rings (many people on this first episode are like what are those.) And #2 how your wife immediately recognized that spike was practicing tai chi. I’ve never seen another reactor instantly recognize his martial art like that and I’ve been watching this show with various friends and girlfriends since the 90s. So if I hadn’t already subbed to this channel, I definitely would have now.
Shruti and Dre taking on the Bebop in 2024???? It's going to be a banger of a year for Beauty and the Beard. Didn't get a chance yet but wanted to wish you Dre and Shruti and Happy New. I hope 2024 bring you happiness, prosperity and longevity as well. I feel it's going to be a breakout year for you two. Take care much love and respect and keep creating great content.
Bandai like Dre said made alot of games and toys back in the day. The toy division approached the director Shinichiro Watanabe to make an anime. They said make whatever you want as long as there are spaceships in it. The entire genesis of the show was to sell merch. So Watanabe went on to create Cowboy Bebop. When Bandai saw the spaceships he had made were old beat up pos they pulled the funding. They wanted new shiny cool spaceships to sell. Ultimately it was picked up by a different division of Bandai and the rest is history. Watanabe was and is an absolute rockstar in the anime world. He knew what he was doing. He even brags in the eyecatchers that he had created an entirely new genre by mixing spaghetti western, noir, space, and others. Defintely influenced many shows that followed it.
Watch for clues as to the ultimate plotline. They are there if you look beyond the "style" and character banter. The prologue in this episode, the dialogue with the Native American shaman, for example, and then the Real Folk Blues credits.
One of the best shows ever made. Not just anime. The art style is on point. The sound design and music is great. The animation (fights, etc.) is great. The stories are great.
I don't think there is 1 negative thing to say about to this show, it's too good maybe? lol but in ALL seriousness Thank You for checking this one out it's FANTASTIC
Hell yeah!! You guys on fire! This is another golden cult classic I did not expected to see. If this is from recommendation, thanks to all who are recommended it! If we keep walking on this golden path of historic series, soon we may see the Samurai Champloo too.

Spike and Jet. I haven't finished this anime. I've seen like 4-5 episodes of it. I barely remember it, I watched it like 20 years ago. This is a good pick, guys.
Cowboy Bebop was produced by Sunrise and aired from April to June 1998, with some of the series' 26 episodes. In September 2001, a theatrical version, Cowboy Bebop: Door to Heaven, was released. It won the TV award at the 3rd Kobe Animation Festival in November 1998, and the Nebula Award in the Media category at the Japan Science Fiction Convention in 2000. Set in the solar system centered on Mars in 2071, this space western anime follows the adventures of bounty hunter Spike Spiegel and his crew as they travel aboard the dilapidated spaceship, the Bebop. It features stylish dialogue, cool visuals, and thrilling mecha and gun action. The main story has a hard-boiled touch, but the style varies depending on the episode, with a wide range including suspense, horror, slapstick comedy, and cyberpunk. As the title "Bebop" suggests, the series uses a variety of music genres, including jazz, blues, rock, and techno, and this, combined with its unique worldview, creates a unique style that was not seen in existing science fiction works. Director Shinichiro Watanabe said, "I made this by putting in everything I had wanted to do up until then but couldn't," and "I thought I was making a 20-minute movie each time." When it was first broadcast, many people said it was similar to "Lupin the Third," but according to Watanabe, it is more similar to the TV drama "Detective Story," starring Yusaku Matsuda, which was popular in Japan in the 1970s (including the narration for the next episode preview). Another feature of this work is that the racial characteristics of the characters are well reflected in the design of the world setting. According to character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, this was because director Watanabe gave permission. The production was handled by Sunrise Studio 2. The core staff was made up of people from the network of Watanabe and producer Masahiko Minami, who had previously been involved in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Macross Plus, and Escaflowne. After the TV series was produced, Minami and his team left Sunrise to found Bones, which produced the film. Sunrise is originally a studio that produces many original robot animes with the intention of commercializing toys, but the idea for this work also came from an offer from Bandai Hobby Division, who saw a spaceship boom coming with the resurgence in popularity following the release of the new Star Wars trilogy, to make an anime that could be developed into spaceship plastic models. When Minami asked Watanabe if he had any ideas, he was inspired by the work of American bounty hunters and immediately came up with an idea for a stateless action movie set in space in the near future. The concept was "space jazz" rather than space opera, and the project title was "Shooting Star Bebop!" . However, the unique style of the work was met with a negative response from those around, and it was almost lumped together with another project that Sunrise was working on at the same time. The sponsor almost dropped the project, saying, "This won't sell spaceships," but with the cooperation of Bandai Visual, the show was able to be aired. The record company releasing the soundtrack opposed the idea, saying, "How many jazz records do you think sell in Japan?" (Music director Yoko Kanno also said that she initially thought, "Jazz will never sell"), and those involved who watched the first episode before it aired commented, "It's too dull. It won't sell." With no prospect of royalty income from the toys, a detailed plan was devised to recoup the investment through music CDs and video packages. As a result, the software was a hit, and Sunrise stated that this work "achieved sales of videos and music CDs comparable to those of the Gundam series." According to producer Minami, the production costs were so high that the president of Sunrise said to him, "Minami, are you trying to ruin the company!?" The opening and ending songs and background music in the film were all composed by Yoko Kanno, with the exception of a few, and performed by The Seatbelts, a group that included Kanno and other musicians from Japan and abroad. In addition to the ending song, vocal songs were used extensively. The first soundtrack won the Animation Album of the Year award at the 13th Japan Gold Disc Awards. The theme song, Tank!, was used in the short program of Canadian male single skater Kevin Reynolds at the 2016 Canadian Figure Skating Championships (with costumes by Spike Spiegel). The terrestrial broadcast version was subject to self-censorship, and violent and sexual content, as well as flashing lights, were revised or cut. This was due to the fact that between the start of production and the broadcast, there were violent crimes committed by minors, such as the Kobe serial child murders and the Tochigi female teacher stabbing incident, and TV Tokyo's regulations were strengthened due to the "Pokémon Shock." The final episode, a compilation titled "Yoseatsume Blues - A Collection Blues," is a protest against these restrictions and cuts in the form of monologues by the main characters, and unlike regular compilations, it makes almost no reference to the story itself. The ending concludes with the provocative message, "THIS IS NOT THE END. YOU WILL SEE THE REAL "COWBOY BEBOP" SOMEDAY!" This episode has been excluded from subsequent rebroadcasts and has not been included on video software such as DVDs. In the United States, the series was first released on video and DVD, and was broadcast nationwide (TV-14: ages 14 and over only) on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim slot from September 1, 2001, where it gained popularity. However, the depictions of fake blood and naked women were edited out for this broadcast, and episodes 6 (as they were reminiscent of the Columbine High School shooting), 8 (hijacking), and 22 (building bombing) were not broadcast on the first episode due to broadcasting codes and the influence of the September 11 terrorist attacks (though they were aired in a rerun immediately after). The evolution of the theme songs is as follows 😌 Opening theme "Tank!" I still maintain that even the live-action series on Netflix was great as a separate entity. I had a blast watching it and was super bummed to see it not get renewed.
But it wasn't a separate entity. They made an abomination. They took a beloved story and twisted it into something so different and bastardized it for a "modern audience". It was horrible.

this series is probably tied with Firefly as the greatest space western series ever.

You guys should react to the anime "Samurai Champloo". Its only 26 episodes, buts a good classic anime.
Made by the same director as Cowboy Bebop
Also a few of the same dubbed actors as well.
Adios... cowboy
Please react to Samurai Champloo next. It’s hip hop mixed with samurai’s and it’s from the same creator as cowboy bebop
