Prominently displayed was a very large, and absolutely beautiful portrait of Dom. They were the best of friends, and you knew that they loved each other. ❤

I remember hearing a story about the time Dom met Mae West for the first time when he starred in her movie Sextet, he immediately started imitating the way she talked "Uh... please to me you miss West..." and she played along "Uh.... is that how I sound?", and it went back and forth like that for a few minutes until they both burst out in hysterical laughter, it's truly a pity it wasn't caught on camera! That's the kind of guy he was, just a non-stop laugh riot, Mel Brooks said he literally had to factor in time for "Dom making people totally lose it laughing" into shooting schedules when working with him.
I was a student of Burt and Dom at Burt's school. They made me the actor that I am. 34 years later and I'm still working. One day, I was asked to go help Dom run his lines for Burt's TV show BL Stryker. I spent a funny, weird afternoon with Dom helping him learn his lines. When we were done, we drove to a local seafood place and had dinner. As the patrons noticed who it was, he started sketching cartoons and caricatures for the folks around us. He'd make them on napkins and make a big deal of everyone. They felt special. He had been sleepy all day, but when the fans were around him, he clicked on and made everyone laugh.
I have always admired Burt Reynolds for one thing. He never forgot where he came from. He made mistakes in his life as we all do, But he was always down to earth and people. Which is a rare thing in that industry.. To stay true to who you are and surround yourself with like minded people. His films were, in the main, light comedies that was really about the everyman. I suspect in a hundred years his films will still be relevant and enjoyed. Because people will always be people. Who didn't want to be the Bandit even if for a moment. Didn't want to go on a mad cap race across the country with friends. Rest in Peace, You will never be forgotten.

I get so sick of the potshots that Sally Field throws out at Burt every chance she gets. Her career was a joke until she hooked up with him, and I doubt that Burt was jealous of her Oscar win. Hollywood hated Burt because he was a middle class Southerner. They really hated him when Orson Welles made the announcement that Burt was an excellent filmmaker. I am 66 years old and Burt provided me with a lot of entertainment. "White Lightning" was my favorite, but "The Longest Yard" was damn good too.

I remember watching Dom DeLuise on tv. He would be on a movie or on a talk show like The Tonight Show. He was the same every time. Crazy funny and never EVER was a mean guy by talking rude or complaining about something or someone. You could tell he had a heart of gold. I miss seeing him on tv.

Yes, Dom DeLuise was a marvellous comic actor, and one of the best in the business ever. But Dom also was an outstanding dramatic actor. Dom may have been a great friend to have around, but I never particularly liked his style of humor. Acting "silly" isn't necessarily funny. He seemed like he thought he should always be "on" and everything out of his mouth should make you laugh. Robin Williams did the same thing. I may be in the minority here but may they both RIP.
It was a "phone in" for when Dom DeLuise won a Lifetime Achievement award. Burt Reynolds was probably too sick to attend in person. He had a lot of health issues toward the end.
