Lightly bend the lips of the magazine outward, again LIGHTLY. That will allow the rounds to sit higher in the action with the mag installed so the bolt can push forward on the head when cycling instead of "riding over". It will also keep the rounds from hanging going into the chamber like it's doing because the angle you are introducing the round in has changed. It may take some trial and error but it will resolve the issue. Has for EVERY pushfeed action I've encountered with this problem. Be patient and just look at the way it works before stating its a failure, it's a mass produced rifle sometimes they need a little extra fine tuning.
I also had a failure to feed on a Savage 110 Brush Hunter in .375 Ruger, I sent it back and they fixed it very nicely! Savage is a great company. I have 8 Savage rifles and I love them all!
I have 3 rifles in .350 legend, a Savage 110 and 2 Winchester XPRs both work without issue. I do not ride the bolt when cycling the action. Working the action briskly will cure a lot of feeding problems. In my gun club several members bought a variety of brands, but the Ruger had the most problems? It was not the gun, it was the shooter riding the bolt.
That's no fun no matter what brand! I purchased a Savage Axis ii stainless steel back in the begining of 2020 and had zero issues. Mine shoots sub moa with two different types of factory ammunition and the rest I've tried are under two inches. One thing I knew before I purchased the rifle was I was upgrading the stock. Which I did.. so now it's one beautiful firearm that shoots accurately! Harvested a big bodied pennsylvania eight point in 2020 with it too! Glad you shared your experience.. cause I was considering this model for my grandchildren. I'll reconsider it now! Thanks brother
My BCA AR does the same thing. It’s a straight wall cartridge thing. I don’t trust it to fire more than one at a time. I treat it as a bolt gun that fails to feed. I have a 110 Tactical Creedmoor, and it is great.
I have a couple of 350 legend tips from my AR build that might help. The feeding problem might not be a savage issue, though I’m not 100 percent sure on this, 350 legend is an awkward round to feed and hornady ammo is some of the worst 350 legend ammo to buy because the sidewall thickness isn’t good enough for most rifles to feed properly (I had the same issue with dented ammo in my ar when using hornady ammo). I would recommend Winchester or federal ammo as that’s what fixed my issue. The threads for the sight issue is a quality issue and it’s the reason I don’t buy iron sited rifles from company’s that don’t usually put irons on rifles. If I were you I would put a LPVO on it and call it a day. The magazine is cheap crap on the hog hunters because they’re in the “Apex” line (not a fan of the Apex line because it mixes the better quality of the 10/110 with the inexpensive parts on the Axis effectively making a rifle that costs nearly as much as a 10/110 but isn’t nearly as good as an Axis) at the end of the day savage mixed a round that doesn’t feed well, a shotty rifle that is seemingly half done, and a price tag that doesn’t match what you get. I think Savages best bet is to completely remove the apex line and take the different models it has either to the axis or 10/110 lines and improve upon them from there. Just my opinion though.
Did you took out the bolt and played with it? Cause at the bolt where the extractor is there’s a thing that spins around. On my dad’s axis had feeding issues so I flipped that thingy around and problem solved.
The failure to feed is an easy fix bend the back on the mag out which will raise the mag up allowing it to strip a round easier, they used .223 mags for awhile for 350 legend a lot of people do but 350 brass has a slight taper to it to help with extraction and it will make the round tilt forward. It’s a metal box mag so it’s easy to adjust it which is why I like them over plastic and plastic mag don’t work it won’t work ever. Also why would you take off the iron sights the whole point of the gun is to have a gun that can have a scope and iron sights without removing the sights, the post doesn’t get in the way it you use the correct mounts with a little higher height even normal ones work fine. Mine I’ve never had an issue with it interfering with my scope, if you want to remove you can but you have to be careful, the front post only goes it one way from left to right if I remember right, and you have to support the bottom piece on a flat surface or I’ll guarantee you’ll mess up the screw and threads, it’s not meant to come out it’s lock tighter in with red lock tight that tells you they don’t plan on you removing it.
I had the same problem with the front sight breaking off. Also they finally made a stock for a scoped rifle but it's on a iron sight rifle causing me not to be able to get low enough to line up sights...why. Mine is a 338 federal, can't use soft points because they jam. Savage needs to get there sales department out of the design and let the engineering do there job.
Hell I buy old used guns and use to issues. And feed issues most don't even have a companies that I can get parts for. I learned the issues with the gun and figure it out
I had a savage 111 pre accutrigger I had the same issue with feeding. I sold the rifle and tried the savage 110 with a accutrigger I had feeding issues and the rifle wouldn’t go off when the trigger was pulled. I sold it. I went with Winchester 70
Had the same problems with mine. Traded it back for a Mossburg 500 with 2 deer barrels and a bird barrel. I am the type of person who will not have an unreliable gun around. Wish I did more research.
I have several actions in the one 110 and love them. just got the 6.5 creedmoore . Three shoots to sight in and deer down @ 275 yards the next day... I have issues with the 350 legend in my ar .. just don't like the round..
My apex hunter in 350 had this same issue, it spent about a month and 2 days at savage. i just got it back today, according to their gunsmith my headspace was good, but they had to change out my bolt head and the barrel. The barrel had tooling burrs left in the chamber, which is what causes the scoring marks you're talking about and a somewhat tight chamber with certain grain weights. They also replaced my entire bolt. I guess from the factory something was wrong with the bolt head which causes it to skip over the rounds. I wish their cs dep would be more detailed with exactly what the issue was, but my slip from the factory says they replaced the bolt, barrel and " small parts" whatever that means. Either way, after them swapping my bolt and barrel, gun runs great now.
@vettelover2009 agreed. They sent me a new mag first to try and solve the issue, problem with that is it's the bolts causing the problem, not the mags. So when that failed to fix it, i called back and they were happy to reopen my case that was created and email me a prepaid shipping label to send it in. Shotty workmanship in the beginning, but i wanted to give them every opportunity to make it right, and they did, i got to keep the extra mag and they fixed my gun. Well done Savage as far as im concerned.
I have read the same thing happening with the 350 legend Ruger American Ranch with AR mags. For some reason it seems like many of the manufacturers have struggled with making a reliable magazine for the straight walled 350. My Winchester XPR has worked flawlessly. This may not be the case but they did develop the round so maybe they have figured something out that others have not.
My 350 duramags had feeding issues until I dremeled the front magazine edge down a mil or so. They work absolutely flawlessly now. But yes, the manufacturers do seem to be perplexed about how to produce a proper magazine. It shouldn't be that difficult.
Not necessary to remove the open sights to mount an optic (unless scope length and/or bell contacts rear buckhorn) other than for looks. The Legend is a 200 yard cartridge at best. 4x magnification is ample and there are plenty of compact scopes out there. Every manufacturer knows they can't hit 1000% everytime but SAVAGE sure does try. Their customer service is the standard others should duplicate. Tweek the tab at the back of the magazine to raise the rear-end or like the other commenter stated spread the lips a little at the back.
I had exactly the same issues and worse 2 new 308’s one green one black both failed to fire out of the box. Back sights fell off, thing patterns like a shotgun! I though a free floating heavy barrel would be accurate = NOPE! I expected better, never had a gun I needed to tweak or repair daily.
I have the exact same rifle I did have a failure to feed until I figured out the problem with the magazine other than that accuracy is great fit and function is great and maybe you need to send the raffle back to Savage
My ruger American 350 legend ranch gen 2 looks great but, does not cycle the rounds well and the pitni rail was factory tightened so tight that I couldn't loosen it
Thats nice looking rifle that sucks having problems with a brand new firearm...I have a savage axis 2 xp in 350 legend and it works flawlessly really handy light rifle
Is the feed problem common among all 350 legends? I bought a ruger american and it wont feed, had to send it back to riger, havent seen it sonce, been almost a month
I had a Axis in 350 Legend and I ran just fine. The only reason I sold it I because I bought it for my wife because it's supposed to be a low recoil round but she said it still kicked too hard. (She's had a shoulder injury). Anyway I liked the rifle but I'm left handed so I let it go.
Steve. The 6.5 grendel or 300 Black out may be the ticket for the missus. 45 colt from a level action with a 250gr load is real gentle. And with a good hard cast in the right spot. She will be out hunting you in no time. Good luck with the caliber hunting and good luck this deer season.
@andrewwinn463 you should have sent it back and let savage attempt to stand behind their product. Mine had the same issue, but they fixed it. It's not a mag issue, it's a bolt problem. They paid for me to ship it to them. And paid to ship it back. Their customer service is excellent. Don't trash the rifle if you never gave them a chance to fix it.
First thing is send it back to Savage and ask for a refund or a replacement rifle in a different cartridge that you will be happy with and sell your 350 Legend ammunition. The 350 Legend cartridge is not suitable for a bolt action rifles. The cartridge doesn't have a shoulder, so it headspaces off the case mouth. I'm not surprised on the feeding problems. A hand full of states have stupid straight walled cartridge laws, so that's why they designed the 350 Legend. If your not in one of those states then I wouldn't own a 350 Legend. The 350 Legend is better soon suitable for AR-15 platforms with a simple upper receiver swap if you already have a 5.56x45/223 Remington or simular case head size.
I bought the 11/111 hog hunter in 338 WM and it was absolutely amazing out of the box. I hate seeing that the quality control has dropped off the table. I appreciate the information, because I was thinking about a 350 Legend in one.
@vettelover2009 Savage fan boy are ya? This isn't the first example I have seen of this model that had issues. So you gladly buy without researching the products you have intrest in? Blind assumptions that all products made by a company are without flaw is idiotic as well as your comment.
@vettelover2009 same here on the Smth and Wesson. I also agree this guy is being over the top but he is showing the issues to people. I have had one Savage 110 Tactical that wasn't close to being accurate and that was the only issue that I've had with a Savage. I also own the Axis2 350 Legend and it is great. However I have heard numerous people who have had issues with this Hog Hunter. Should have a 110 Hunter 280 AI in next week.🤞
It amazes me people still buy Savage. Personally I would have nothing less than a Ruger American. I just looked at a savage ultralight with the proof research barrel and was very disappointed in the action
Did you buy the gun from a FFL dealer? sorry that you didn't get a good one. Very rare to hear about your situation. You probably shouldn't play with any more guns.
Bending this lips is of the magazine is not a fix on this gun, if was tried, Magazines were swapped and it was sent to the factory. I’ve had it work on guns but not this one
Had 2 Ruger American Wild 350 Legends that did the same. Sent the first one back to Ruger they destroyed the rifle and sent me a new one. Same issues. Got rid of them and went with a single shot Encore. Have a AR 350 Legend it had to had the front of the mag filled down to make it function.
I have the same problem with my savage axis 2 350 legend I half to push the mag up and in every time I chamber a round .called savage they sent a new mag same shit. Whit that being said it's very accurate. Guess one shot one kill lol.
This issue is due to the chamber end of the mag lips are too tight, slightly spread and issues will go away, this happens a lot with metal mags, quit whining and look at what the actual issue is.
I have the same problem with my axis in 350 legend and it sucks because i love the gun its accurate but i have been having shoot it single shot at a time

I think the mags are made out of plastic, aren't they?
@@spookytkid The mag plate is with an integral catch on most of these but the body is stamped steel.
I also had a failure to feed on a Savage 110 Brush Hunter in .375 Ruger, I sent it back and they fixed it very nicely! Savage is a great company. I have 8 Savage rifles and I love them all!

Thank you - I was going to Fleet Farm to pick up that exact gun in a couple of days. You've saved me heartache.
My BCA AR does the same thing. It’s a straight wall cartridge thing. I don’t trust it to fire more than one at a time. I treat it as a bolt gun that fails to feed. I have a 110 Tactical Creedmoor, and it is great.
Did you get rid of the gun or get the magazine fixed, I had the same problem with my 350 legend axis 2 and fixed it myself
Ruger has the same exact problem. I can't believe these companies ship their guns out, fully knowing they have a huge feed problem.
With the ruger american 350 legend. Take the floor plate off the mag, and cut 13 coils off. I loaded the mag with 5 shells and it cycled perfectly.
I have a couple of 350 legend tips from my AR build that might help. easy fix, Top feed the mag while inserted a few times to spread the metal out a tad. Mine never malfunctioned again. Love mine /shrug

My friends Ruger American in 350 has the same feed issues. Mostly the round gets stuck feeding into the chamber.
I got a savage axis in 350 legend it does good hate you had bad luck hope they fix it for u
Is the feed problem common among all 350 legends? I bought a ruger american and it wont feed, had to send it back to riger, havent seen it sonce, been almost a month

I have the Savage 110 Apex Hunter with the same magazine and haven't had any trouble with the magazine it came with feeding and ejecting all 4 rounds

I had a Ruger ranch .450 bushmaster did the same thing ever so many rounds.
The fan boys won't like this or agree but Savage is starting to let quality slip we're seeing it more & more
Companies as a whole are cutting corners to try and save money. Savage did right by me though, they fixed my 110 apex after i sent it back.
I bought the 11/111 hog hunter in 338 WM and it was absolutely amazing out of the box. I hate seeing that the quality control has dropped off the table. I appreciate the information, because I was thinking about a 350 Legend in one.

Try some Winchester Ammo. The Hornady is the problem. Had same problem with the AR platform, went to Winchester, no more problems.
Did you buy the gun from a FFL dealer? sorry that you didn't get a good one. Very rare to hear about your situation. You probably shouldn't play with any more guns.
Pretty common if you look it up with the 350 legend, you probably shouldn’t procreate!!
I have one in 308 and it's great
Bending this lips is of the magazine is not a fix on this gun, if was tried, Magazines were swapped and it was sent to the factory. I’ve had it work on guns but not this one
I would shoot it off hand and see how loading changes; the inertia may set the cartridges for proper loading
The feeding issues are a problem with the bolt head. Mine did this same thing, savage swapped my barrel and bolt and she works good now
What a shame my axis feeds every time
Back in the day 110 was 110$$$$$. Dollars better than a r700 butt savage should take pride and make steel magazines.
I'd buy a Ruger or Mossberg over the Savage every single time for the same money!!
CMMG Mags FTW!!
Savage quality control sucks I won’t ever buy a savage again and they don’t seem to care buy Ruger instead
Hot mess……. I’ve got no use for Savage myself. Sorry you got burned too
Sent the gun in and it returned with the same issue!!
I have the same problem with my savage axis 2 350 legend I half to push the mag up and in every time I chamber a round .called savage they sent a new mag same shit. Whit that being said it's very accurate. Guess one shot one kill lol.
Get the Ruger American Ranch
Straight walls for single shots.they should have put 35 rem back in there line.
You got junk . Sorry .
𝓹𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓸𝓼𝓶 😓
This issue is due to the chamber end of the mag lips are too tight, slightly spread and issues will go away, this happens a lot with metal mags, quit whining and look at what the actual issue is.
Quit crying and just send it back and have it fixed. Easy peasy....
I have the same problem with my axis in 350 legend and it sucks because i love the gun its accurate but i have been having shoot it single shot at a time
For deer hunting one only needs a single shot they never have magazine problems.
Tweak the mag like other comments say shoot 100 times and do another vid ????gun probly rock n roll after that???
