I’d like to see a review of a Trick kit with the new studio set up you guys have. This mix is pretty hard to tell what’s going on with the toms, but, still sounds decent overall! There are like ZERO reviews of Trick kits anywhere...
Thank you for demoing this kit. I have searching for a decent video of Trick Drums forever and now I know what my next kit will be. Also thanks for the snare turning video. It really helped me square my snare sound away.
An excellent call on coated heads. I use Evans UV2 coated on mine with clear g1 resos and they sound great, mic'd or un-mic'd. I use a Superkick II batter and ported emad for the reso- played wide open. I agree with another poster; tuned high, you could use for jazz-- I have, but my kick is only 18"- regardless, the kit is fantastic and I'm not selling it - Ive sold too much stuff I've subsequently regretted-- this Trick kit is a forever kit. I concur with everybody else on here. These sound KILLER. Great deep bottom out of all the drums. I think coated heads would definitely have more tonal possibilities. Good job and thanks for letting us HEAR some Trick Drums. I've always been very curious and anxious to hear them. Great mic job on the drums too. Comes through very well through headphones.
Would love to hear that kit w/ an EQ4 on it. Tom's sound as is [to me] so I'm curious to know how much better they'd be with coated heads as Shane suggested.
The drums look very nice and appear to be well built, but they sound a bit dry (not enough sustain and tone) for my taste. However, I can see how some drummers would want this sound...especially some hard rockers.

Sam C Of course! These are great drums. Glad to hear that the tuning video was helpful to you.

Those are some deep sounding toms and bass

Please review another kit!!! We need an updated video.
That floor tom growl though...
Killer sound!!
Let me add that these drums are lightweight! Juggling twin bass drums.
DrumCenterNH: How do Trick drums perform at a jazz tuning? Can they do it?
I have a 5 piece trick drum set. It sounds better at a jazz tuning than a loose rock tuning
meant 'kick' w/ aforementioned BD head 😁

Nice floor tom ^_^
Σταυρος Ελλας that's right, the floor kills!
The snare sounds good...what is it.
The toms are too lifeless and dead.
Not for me. Nice projection but flat on tonality.
Yeah definitely needs coated

There is more sustain than this video demonstrates. They have a midrange you can feel.
The floor tom was evil-good! The rack tom was awful. Bass drum not my fave.
