Joe, this is some of your best content, imo. The dash and all its pieces and parts are an integral part of K.I.T.T. and that is one of the reasons we all got hooked - the idea that the Knight Two Thousand can do all these things!!! Well, anyway. Great stuff. ALSO, AGREE with 97% of what you said in terms of planning. But if I could make a suggestion (again, just my opinion): At 30:20 you describe the original 1984 shifter for your screen-used stunt car and that, because it’s original, you want to leave it. Well, I’m sure I am not alone here, but with many of the things that must be done out of necessity to present a compelling screen-used K.I.T.T., to me, there’s nothing more jarring than seeing an OG car with that huge 1984 shifter next to a pristine dash. It literally takes me out of the moment. It actually stings a bit. Now, if your decision is to stick with your plan, I guess we’ll all deal, but the truth is that you should really put one of those snazzy billet aluminum shifter knobs in there, and just keep the original one as an exhibit. Seriously, just consider the pain and discomfort that KR fans endure when they have to see that gaudy monstrosity instead of a sleek, screen-accurate knob. Peace! -Dan

My mom Always tells me how great growing up in the 80's was. I wish i could visit the 80's. I love watching Knight Rider with my mom. We laugh at Hoff's 1st season hair and all the crazy 80's styles. Plus David Hasselhoff had a beautiful smile.

Making a mold of all the original parts for just in case seems like a wise move.
Knowing how all the small "technical filler scenes" were filmed in studio will always amuse me. It was all full practical, low tech, Mac Gyver style. ^^

Great content Joe! You must have a staggering amount of hours just in research for all of this. It's refreshing to see that you're going the extra mile to assure accuracy with all of the components on K.I.T.T. and the Semi. I love your attention to detail. It really feels like a trip back in time watching all these projects taking shape. Keep up the good work and I will continue to watch.

Really love the idea of recreating the complete S3-4 insert dash. Although I think you should definitely install lights and buttons in the upper console as well. Will look a bit odd being completely blank next to the fully lit dash and lower console.

Have you considered getting some high-quality 3D scans of these parts, prior to the moulding process? That way you'd always have a perfect digital reference, you or others could 3D print parts to fill in/make new bits, and it would mean that the parts would live on well beyond their physical lifespans.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was bugged by how the upper console looked from the outside of the cat. It did look like it didnt have one when seeing it from the outside. That was the only thing throwing off the loook from the outside. Glad to see you're going to fix that. I cant wait to see how the car is going to look once its all done. As always, i enjoy the videos and the content.

May I suggest that you clearly mark all the replicas with some type of identification panels on the inside with all the information on them so future enthusiasts will know what those parts are so in twenty or thirty years from now other historians will not have to go through all of the investigations that you had to do to verify your original parts. Besides it’s always good practice to document everything

Joe I totally agree with how you want to stretch out the upper console to work with shape of the roof. Also regarding the "stage used" dash and consoles, why not get another gutted Firebird and chop it down like the convertible half-car they used on the show? Something that could be wheeled around or mounted to a trailer frame? Maybe that donor car that Ohio Dukes are using after the jump 🤔 Just a thought. I think you need RC3's crew to help you with all of these projects lol. 😃👍

Ok that being said, I do appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication to what you do and it’s this reason that I’ve been following along for the past few months. I still like my idea, you could buy an empty shell paint it black and install the seats as they were made to be seen (In a car!) As well as the dash, upper and lower consoles! You wont have to have an engine to deal with and if you leave the rear end in it you could rig a cart apparatus to the front to haul it around! There are plenty of 3rd gen bodies around....again just an idea keep up the good work!!!!

This is the correct shift knob for this particular car. The T handle that is in it now is what was in it when they filmed with this car, so it stays. The 82 round style is what they used in the original 82 cars and in close up shots. If it was there for filming, we leave it!

Add a computer and display, then either a driving game or a drivers testing program.
Both would probably work, I bet.
    Mmm, Nitro Injection Bottom?
Like as in "Gone In 60 Seconds" Go Baby Go nitro bottom?
I could see it being used for the Pursuit Mode, it's speed boost setup.
Will you guys turn the analyzing box into a multi-CD-box insertion location, so you can listen to more then one CD?
    Heck, would that even fit?
As for that old floppy drive, could a more modern harddrive quick exchange setup be compatible, there?
Or would that look too off?
I would expect Kitt/Karr to have micro camera's, all over.
Like near the bumper, so you can more easily look around a corner, using the display screens.
    Or record your drive.
GPS seems a given, as well.
So what for computer would you use, then?
And how many bottoms can you give a (working) function?
Like say alfabet for the GPS?
Airco controls, Kitt light & sound effects, ect, ect?
Heck, can you even wire the overhead console???
Maybe trigger apps/programs, like say WhatsApp it's video call ability?
Who knows what you guys will do, I certainly won't, if only because I ain't you guys.
    Keep up the good work.
And maybe Bonny will be working on a spare console set, in order to fix it or so?

I love knight rider and K.I.T.T but i have to be honest, in terms of replica fan made cars enough is enough, i get more excited now when i see an unmolested original 1982/3/4 trans am. I think the nunber of Kitts out there outnunver the amount of original early third gen trans ams
