Oh my that was fun to watch...in Michigan we don't mash our potato salad, we keep them cubed also we don't peel the potatoes until they are done cooking they don't soak up to much water. Its fun to see how others cook. Best wishes on you videos. God bless you and Mom
Why go for an "al dente" texture when you're just going to mash them?! Al dente is perfect for "regular" potato salad with cubed/chunks of potato. Because the dressing/moisture soaks into them and makes them softer.
