This the longest most detailed tour EVER of the awesome Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, NV USA founded by Tim Arnold. In this video we will review and literally check out EVERY SINGLE pinball machine! From the early EM and Woodrail pins by Gottlieb, Bally, Williams, and Chicago Coin to the 90s era DMD Bally and Williams machines all the way up to the new Stern and Jersey Jack Pinball machines. This place is amazing and has nearly every pin ever made under one roof! Another John's Arcade on the Road!

Glad to finally see the PHoF in operation in (almost) person. Back before Tim Arnold had the place, he was raising money to get somewhere to put the PHoF. Every six months or so he'd do a fundraiser night, and let the public come through (for a minimum donation) to play the heck out of those games on Free Play. All of those machines in an airplane hangar. He has some really classic machines, some of which I didn't see in the video so he might have those in storage. It was incredible.
I'm a really reserved person, so I didn't really go out of my way to thank Tim for letting us sample his collection, but even seeing him in passing you could tell that this is his passion. The man loves pinball, and it shows. If it weren't for people like him there are a lot of people who wouldn't know quite how to repair/maintain machines thanks to those This Old Pinball videos.
Thanks for the tour, man. Good to see it all in action.

I love the Pinball Hall of Fame, I happened to be out in Vegas the week they opened and was hooked. I've been back to Vegas twice since and always plan to spend a least a whole day there. Thanks for making this video and sharing this awesome spot with the rest of the world.

We visited in early October on a whim, just to get away from what we had experienced at Mandalay Bay a couple of days prior, and absolutely loved this place. We did a pretty good job feeding the bill changer.
We are already wanting to visit Las Vegas again and will sure stop by and play more games. We wish the Pinball Hall of Fame much success.

John, Tim said the LED's are used as it halves the electric bill. I imagine if you can drop 100 watts from 400 machines, that adds up to several hundred dollars of electric saved

    • @Johnsarcade

Ah, that makes complete sense. I'm sure the LEDs also help with maintenance too.

Awesome. I just got a new life goal; to visit this place of epicness which is half a world away for me. I'd much rather go to the Pinball Hall of Fame than anything else in Vegas. Very nice video.

I just got back from the Pinball Hall Of Fame in Las Vegas. The place is awesome and worth the trip to Vegas alone. Nice video.

We visited the Pinball Hall of Fame in May / 2017 and we really liked it because it brings the nostalgia of the arcades of the 80s. On my return to Vegas in Oct / 2019 I put Pinball back on the script.
I exchanged 20 dollars in 25c coins (the machines only accept 25c coins and the games vary from 0.50 to 2 dollars). We took some pictures to remember the visit and also publicize the Hall of Fame for free on our travel blog to the United States.
When I was going to play at the Transformers Pinball, an older employee (maybe even the owner) came all arrogant and aggressive saying he couldn't shoot or take pictures. He said with total rudeness that the place had three rules (none of them were written at the entrance, next to the machine for exchanging banknotes for coins): one of them is that it was forbidden to take photos because the machines were his property and the photos could not go for internet. He threatened us saying that if we took more pictures or stayed in the establishment without playing, he would call the police. I also said that parking is not "free" and only for customers. A player who was at our side was also startled by such ignorance from the attendant.
If you didn't want us to take pictures, you could politely ask that there would be no problem and also install notices on the door and on the machines prohibiting photos.
With the arrogance lost client, we will not recommend Pinball to anyone and report the terrible treatment on our blog.
With this treatment to customers it is explained why in 2 and a half years the place is the same and until today it has not been to the strip.
A third of the machines stopped and in the middle of Colombo's holiday had almost no one in the place.
We didn't want to argue, we got in the car and went to play at Circus Circus' Midway that the only rule was to have fun.

Gottlieb was so painfully behind the times in the mid to latter 70's with their EM's, archaic scoring reels, repetitive designs, and System 1's. No wonder they were left behind while Williams and Bally buried them into the ground. Never was crazy about Gottlieb. Great video. Thanks for showing

Many of those 60’s and 70’s games are very challenging. They might not have all the extras the modern machines have, but most of the great pinball players broke their cherries on these machines

If I was in your shoes, John, I'd sell 2 or 3 of my video games, enough to buy a Virtual Pinball table, like the one your buddy had in the video you made about his. Dude, some of the 3D possibilities with pinball now with massive 3D screens is really outstanding. If I had the cash, I'd buy a ready-made one like yesterday, but I guess it depends how much you're into pinball. Man, what I'd do to have 300+ pinball tables in a single machine.....just awesome!

This is the first time I've seen one of your videos! I'm going to the PHOF in December. I was impressed by the pinball and your commentary. I know I'm going to have fun there. However, i think I was more impressed by your basement arcade! ALL those games were from the time I used to frequent arecades, when Westworld was a popular arcade chain. I wish those wete at the PHOF. Can I come to your basement and spend my money there too? lol Well, keep up the good work.

Well, Mark of CGR does regular visits to some place on the east coast that has an incredible selection. But, this place is probably taking either the gold or silver medal on rarest collection available to the public. And, who knows what else they might have had, had they even more space to work with. As I already typed up, I am almost positive that this place has changed out about 80 percent of their game titles since I last visited. Now, that really is saying a lot.

Nice video! I was in the PBHOF shortly after it first opened in an old strip mall on Tropicana... a lot less games than it has now, but I saw few in there I played. Nice to see the Wizard, Capt. Fantastic and KISS machines working - they were "in progress" when I was there. One machine that they DID have then (which would be about... oh, 10 years ago?) was one called PUNK... i remember it because it had an extra wide body (think it was a Gottlieb, but not sure...).

Nice video! That Pinball Circus machine is so cool, it's a shame it never went into production. I wish we had a public pinball arcade in my area. I've gotten such an interest in it in the last few years, especially with the video tables on Pinball Arcade (just makes me want to play the real thing even more!) and watching the best players at tournaments on Papa.tv (excited for the circuit final this Thursday!) A little sad to see the Black Knight gone but I'm sure you'll find something you like better. :)

I was staying with family in the area a couple years ago so I got to check that place out... particularly freaking epic, indeed!
Personally I'm not a huge pinball fan, but I did check out a couple of the tables like the TRON Legacy one which was pretty cool... I did enjoy their selection of classic arcade games though.
The Dragon's Lair Silver Anniversary was interesting too, as I recall it had DL1, DL2: Timewarp and Space Ace all on one cab... I didn't fare so well trying to play DL, though.
But if you're a classic gamer in the area and gambling isn't really your thing, it's worth checking out!!! Fantastic video as always

    • @jupreindeer
      @jupreindeer 10 років тому

Yes. And, it even has a guide mode that tells you when to move the joystick where or when to press the button. Alas, that game is so demanding that the reflexes needed were beyond me.
Vegas does have other arcades about, too. But, those can't even come close to this local's gem...located in the middle of 'nowhere'. (Well...it looks more like Any Common Street, Los Angeles, more then nowhere. But, this is Vegas. Where's all the flash at around this place?)

"I'm like in the middle of nowhere..."
That so explains this awesome place all so very well. Made it my Number One place to visit on every Vegas trip...and I wasn't always successful in finding it.
Unbelievably, I think that they've rotated about 80% to 90% of their games since I last visited! And, they really had some rare titles in there. In fact, you missed one super rare pin. I know a guy was playing it as you whipped the camera by. But, (according to that Pinball simulator for the Sony system) I saw that they had a 'Going Nuts'. The simulator says that there's only 10 of those prototype machines ever made. Of course, seeing you play that Circus game where only two were made was a real treat. Then again, who knows just how many machines were on this video might have had that 1 of ___ back story.

They have Goin' Nuts??!!!! Wow that's an ultra rare pin. Only 10 produced. I wonder how many are left?

They don't have a Back to the Future pinball there? Great Scott! Forget it. That's the one I remember playing a lot (was a big fan of the trilogy, still am of course) and would love to play that one again. Even though its a Data East and not the best it was fun. It looks like a fun place just seems to be missing some cool machines is all. They definitely have to get a Back to the Future there if they want to have a complete collection. Sheesh.

I kept seeing what looked like hooks on the front of some machines. From what I remember l, they had a more "feminine" theme. Were they purse hangers or did the ambien just kick in sooner than I thought.. great video as always john "edutainment" at it's you-tubey best.

OK, so update John. (I don't have an alternate way of chatting with you...) Picked up at that auction I mentioned; Area 51 site 4 (dynamo showcase), USA ver. SEGA Naomi cabinet w/ Virtual Tennis 2, PGA Challenge golf game (dedicated), and a Sega twin GT (dedicated). I'm in such **** since i have no where to put them all. I might make a raw video when I get them home. Didn't win the Crazy taxi :( it got up over $500, not worth it IMO. I'm gutting my showcase (Soul Caliber 2) and the Area 51 takes is place. Still a big ugly showcase, but its in superb condition compared to mine.

Nice coin doors! Try showing each game from top to bottom next time. My gf was watching this vid and had to stop half way in from frustration. Still a great vid, IMO.
