A ROOFTOP TENT On My Jeep Gladiator!?

- This is an upgrade i've been very excited about... A rooftop tent from Roam Adventure Co!!
Most of you know, i am not the Overlanding type of guy. However, i have always found rooftop tents pretty cool!
Cassie and I decided that adding a Rooftop tent to our Jeep Gladiator would be a great idea to see what the hype is about, and possibly start working our way into "Overlanding adventures". More on that topic and our plans later...

I mounted this tent to my home made rack system over my DiamondBack bed cover
We decided on this tent for a few reasons. We wanted something that had great quality, however we didnt want to spend $3,000 on a tent without knowing if it would be something we would use very often. I didnt want to cheap out and get a low quality tent, knowing that it could be something that we will enjoy and later have regrets of getting a budget tent.
I also wanted to find a tent that was big enough for the family, while still being lightweight and small enough to fit over the the Jeep Gladiator bed.
This tent weighs in at 130lbs, and feels incredibly large inside for being a standard sized tent.
Roam also offers the Vagabond XL, and the Lite, depending on your needs.
While i am not too well versed on RTTs, i did alot of research and found this tent to be one of the best "bang for your buck", it has alot of useful features, and seems to be made with very high quality.
We are planning some trips soon, that way we can test it out and make some further review videos for you guys. We are also going to take a realistic approach on how to get into "Overlanding" and our journey along the way.
There are 1000s of "Overlanding experts" out there, but i want to show you guys a realistic way to get into it, without saying "You need this", because honestly everyone's needs are different, and sometimes its best to learn along the way.

Dan Arteritano so far, I can do it alone in about 8 minutes . I’m sure once me and Cassie get some practice we can do it quicker

I have a RTT mounted on a removable bed rack on my ZR2 Colorado. Lifts on/off with manual garage hoist. Mine has a full annex that covers the stairs too, good for changing clothes / showers. No regrets. Nice to be able to remove the RTT if not needed (unwanted weight).

and deployed - very helpful to see you both going through the uplift process to your rack ( we will all have to do this !) Thanks for taking the time to show the detail quality up close and your initial likes - also good to see you have it fully deplored with rain fly and all windows open ( to get an idea of light level available inside the tent ) and lastly , having all four of

Impressed how you and your wife hoisted that tent up on the Jeep. I needed a couple of guys to help with a 6 pack to get it on my Gobi Stealth.

I like the rainfly is a window! That would be so relaxing watching it just wash on by the window laying there and listening to the drops on tent! The annex looks cool too with a full floor! Cant wait to see how it holds up!

So so so funny when you put it on, made my day. Looks awesome, I have seen another roof top tent demo and their kids are older and they installed stacking bunk bed/cots in the vestibule along with a small propane heater. Next you need a slide out kitchen for the bed of the truck. 😁

Just because you have a roof top tent, doesn’t make you an overlander. That is so true. We have logged over 16,000 miles of Overland trails in our 2016 JK and Offroad trailer. Completed the coast to coast TransAmerica Trail, Continental Divide Trail (Mexico to Canada) and TransWisconsin Trail. We are still learning the ins and outs but are getting more comfortable after each trip.
Love the rooftop tent, the only thing stopping me from buying one is having all that weight up top. I'm curious to your impressions of driving with it on road and offroad.

Just ordered this exact tent for our first RTT. Pretty excited about seeing these videos with good reviews!
You and the family are going to love your RTT. The challenge is getting the Jeep close to level before set up, a stash of scrap wood of various thickness's to put under tires is helpful. I like the green color best, although the darker color will be hotter in the warm months. Figure out a way to close the air gap between the cab and the tent to reduce aerodynamic drag and you may just leave it mounted. Looking forward to your first family adventure.
Interested in seeing your update vid after a couple days camping in the rooftop. We started looking at them for our JL but decided on a small travel trailer (still shopping) like a teardrop or really anything 19' and under. 😁

I never really liked roof top tents for wranglers but on the JT it makes sense and it’s at the perfect height. The annex seals the deal. Pretty cool set up!
That's a real nice tent. I went to their web site and they definitely did some work on what works. Quality compared to price, I believe it's one of the best on the market. Thanks for a the video showing the setup.

I think that I may have to look into this tent when I finally start outfitting a Gladiator. I'm shopping for a good price now on a Rubicon, so within the next month hopefully (missed the presidents day sales). I haven't been camping in years, but I want to find a new hobby. I had gone back to school, so the last 4 years have been so hectic, when I finish school this December, I want to find something to fill in that time, and specifically something to do with the family too.
You can add bunk beds in the annex. That’s what we did with our kids, in the exact same model. You can see in our video.

Nice Ben, I'm working toward this as well. It's a very expensive hobby so I'm spreading it out over a few years. My little one is just over a year old so I have some time.

Thanks for the share! I just order this RTT yesterday for my son who's in Oregon because he had a different model on his Wedding Registry. I question him why a tent son? So after researching his model and others. Roam won me over. My son still wanted the cheaper model, but i only allow him to pick the color of the Roam and he should have it soon(before his wedding date) Thank guys for your videos and I hope that my son post a video of his own has well.
