The reason we consider “Homeward Bound” a great film is not because we identify with what it means to be a dog or cat, but because we identify with what it means to be a family the way Shadow, Chance and Sassy are. We know what it means to have children who are obnoxious and frustrating but to keep on loving them and teaching them what’s important the way Shadow does with Chance. And we know what it means to have trust issues if we’ve been burnt and be afraid to try to love again, taking one step at a time the way Chance does.
Me too, if she was able to literally talk she should thank the man for his help, and tell him that she needs to find her friends before leaving. That man was a stranger, but that doesnt bother me in the least because it turned out that he was a good guy because he helped Sassy and I gave him praise for that.
@@beckster5923 I agree. Although I know Sassy had to leave him to catch up with Chance and Shadow, I did feel bad for that guy, with her taking off just like that, though he took it real well. She could have at least licked his face or something as a way of expressing appreciation to him for rescuing her before running off.
As a little girl That whole entire scene where sassy fell in the water and fell off the waterfall Actually scared me and made me cry because i thought that she was Dead😓😔😢
Who remembers the first Incredible Journey? Tao was the cat Luath was yellow lab and the old dog was Boger a miniature bull terrier. In that movie Boger was the last one to show up because he was old and at first they thought he was gone too but he made it back just like Shadow did.
They didn't actually throw a cat off a damn waterfall are you serious? Go read up on every seen involving animals in this movie..even the fish were looked after phenomenally well
Ik I’m five years late, but to put anyone at ease: for the scenes in rapids, a doll was used. Real cats were that had been trained to swim were actually in smaller controlled pools. They only stayed in as long as required.
This movie required a lot of trick shots and animal training. The few moments you see Sassy struggling up close in the water they used real cats that were actually trained swimmers, plus those scenes were filmed separately in a heated pool. All far away shots plus Sassy going over the waterfall is a fake cat
Exactly how much further away was Chance then Shadow when they were running to try to help Sassy if Chance got there right after Sassy went down the waterfall?
"Third sighting in four months." I can't help but wonder: sighting of what? Did he mean the eagle specifically, or was that one of a certain number of birds he was hoping to catch a glimpse of. That brief little thing he did with the pencil looked like he was making a mere check mark. Maybe he was just checking off every bird on his list he saw.
Well, he said it was the third time he saw it in four months, and sure says "master of the sky" here, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's what he saw the last two times as well.
Sassy was lucky to survive the waterfall. I bet that Shadow and Chance wasn’t able to find her at first because once she went over the waterfall, she got unconscious and the was swept away very fast without the dogs having a chance that allowed the man to find and rescued her. If it wasn’t for him, then Sassy would’ve been gone. Sassy’s experience with the waterfall taught her a valuable life lesson to not be reckless and be grateful for her friends in her life.
Wait. I just realized there's a small part missing from this video. In rushing to find the dogs, Sassy catches a scent and says "pee yew! They were here alright."
This may be late in responding, but I think he said ' out here in the sticks' or something close to that. I haven't seen this movie in years but these scenes bring back so many good childhood memories.
The voice actor for shadow captured tenderness, joy, purity, loving, gentleness, loyalty and wisdom of shadow perfectly
I agree, very matchong for a golden retreiver
May he rest in peace, too.
This movie was premiered February 1993, and the voice actor passed away the following December.
Yeah he was voiced by Don Ameche in this film and Ralph Waite in the second film, may they both rest in peace
@cheyne lawler no Michael J. Fox was Chance
@cheyne lawler Fox was Chance.
Shadows speech and the tone really show you that this movie was all it can be in real life for both human and animal
guy who rescues her is a great example of our species.

1 year ago He isn't the only one.
I’d do the same thing. I love animals
11:18 - “Sassy! Sass-whoa! Gopher hole.” LOL Chance 😂
I feel that was improvised in the recording studio.
It was

I was so glad she didn't die and got found and rescued by that nice man :)
The old guy thou oh my gosh such a sweetheart I think I recognize him from the remake of Miracle on 34th street.💜
Gorgeous Himalayan cat ❤❤❤❤

He does kind of seem like an American version of Richard Attenborough, doesn't he?
Lol that meow when she tastes the milk
It's charming ❤
Back in 93 when we didn't need CGI to make something like this work.
*cough cough* 2010's disney remakes!
Agreed nowadays 3/4 of movies are based on that there is no more originality anymore
Filmakers are so lazy now. It's hard to feel connected to movies now with a bunch of CGI characters and an "OK" script :/
Thank you! So sick of cgi
terminator 2 was another gem
As a little girl That whole entire scene where sassy fell in the water and fell off the waterfall Actually scared me and made me cry because i thought that she was Dead😓😔😢
Me too it a so realistic
Me two i also started balling at the part were shadow doesn't come but soon ge appears

As a human, I must admit
Sassy is a beautiful dame.
Yes:-) but she's a diva too:P😂😂😂
That shot of shadow on the edge of the cliff in front of the waterfall is fucking art
This is a wonderful movie
9:44 that meow... :D
So adorable and precious. :)
1:08-1:09 And 1:10-1:11 With 1:16-1:17 And 1:18-1:19

I love how their "adventure" brought them closer together
Makes me cry all the time I really wish that scene was removed because it’s painful to see Poot sassy every single time glad she made it.😔😔
The way they made you think she died was heart renching

I feel bad for sassy. Her cries got me. But God have save her life from the falls. But its just based on the story this movie.
2:58 😿😿😿 they should've never done that to that poor cat.
They didn't actually throw a cat off a damn waterfall are you serious? Go read up on every seen involving animals in this movie..even the fish were looked after phenomenally well
Wrong movie. You're thinking of Milo and Otis.
I like how the brave dog, shadow 🐶🐕comes to save her 2:59

the cutest friendship❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a hardcore atheist but the only thing thatd make me think there was a god was how perfect and pure dogs are for humans..they are mans best friend
Sally Field as Sassy ❤❤❤❤
I love this video!
Did the filmakers use a cat puppet in the water and how did they filming both over and under the water even when there was strong stream?
Same, I was wondering the same thing 🤔

Why didn't Shadow and Chance go down to the river to the other side?
Has anyone noticed they use a different dog for the swimming scenes. Chance(Rattler)must have refused to go in the water. Some ABs are like that.
8:22 Can someone tell me where Sassy is? I can never spot her.
Exactly how much further away was Chance then Shadow when they were running to try to help Sassy if Chance got there right after Sassy went down the waterfall?
10:28 - 10:33 LOL!
"Third sighting in four months."

0:21-0:26 did a fly land in Sassy’s fur?
Sassy was lucky to survive the waterfall. I bet that Shadow and Chance wasn’t able to find her at first because once she went over the waterfall, she got unconscious and the was swept away very fast without the dogs having a chance that allowed the man to find and rescued her. "Please don't make that noise, Sassy."
Uh, what did you expect, Shadow? She's a cat, for crying out loud.
Well, I don't disagree with that. I just mean the sound Sassy made. She meowed like any cat would.
"I'll come back and swim beside you."
Believe it or not, that's what happens in the book on which this is based.
Sassy could’ve thanked the man who took cared of her and saved her. Instead of running away and saying nothing to him!
3:59
Just a minor point, but it was hardly worth it for Chance to jump into the water only to get out again ten seconds later.
Tell that to chance
Diva Sassy. 🐱😉
Day 3 is the $25,000 level.
🥰
Wait. I just realized there's a small part missing from this video. In rushing to find the dogs, Sassy catches a scent and says "pee yew! They were here alright."

This may be late in responding, but
I think he said ' out here in the sticks'
or something close to that.
I haven't seen this movie in years
