I have 210's on a 434 SB Chev. 10.5 cr, .600 lift, 950 Quick Fuel. It made 598 hp at 6300, with 562 Tq at 4600. In a 3300 lb Nova with a Turbo 350 and 4500 stall it runs 10:40's @ 128. About 6900 through the lights. Some people comment: oh those heads are too small. Then I make a run !! Tons of torque down low and still pulls hard up top. These heads are great and size does matter, my motor is never lazy, and it recovers very well at the shifts. Plus I drive it on the street ! Well done AFR.

Best starting point I know of is application: what rpm range am I really going to use? Brutal honesty is the rule, and observing that powerbands have tradeoffs - no such thing as dead flat VE from 3k to 8k - and your torque curve will prove it.

About 10 years ago when I was first getting into building engine I researched the internet up and down and came to the conclusion that I wanted to try AFR heads on my first 383, I ordered some 195s, I blew that motor up in short order, so I built another 383, this time with 210s I put that motor together in probably 2015, put over 60k miles on it with a lunati voodoo solid roller, it originally had pinging problems due to my mistakes, it had a bad carb, and hei distributor issues, but at 40k I went with a holley sniper, efi and distributor, went to flat top pistons for more compression, and changed the rod bearings, valves and lifters. It runs hard in my 4800 pound truck and I’m not easy on it you can see it on my page if you want to take a look

Hi Ross, we apologize about the extended lead times on heads. Our industry has been hit pretty hard by all this. @@trailerparkcryptoking5213 no that is not what he said, he said it's the third thing he will tell you, not it's the third most important.
He's also trying to explain it in layman's terms, cross section is what you actually pay attention to.
Port volume will be different if the runner is raised as it has just become longer.
So you can use volume if you're comparing to 23deg SBC heads but the 18, 14, 13, 12 and 11 degree heads will have longer ports because the runner is actually raised making comparing port volume of a 23 degree SBC head usless to an 18 degree head.

I am an engineer and vastly understand volumetric, flow rates, fluid mechanics and the fact that heads do not ever see steady state flow. Velocity of fluid flow through an intake port constantly changes with RPM and will change with changes in intake valve timing events! How’s that padna? If you try to correct these facts then you know nothing!

3200 stall 3.6 gear 4bbl 1 7/8 primaries these will make any 400 cu breath and use a larger head
    400 stock 5800rpm =195 ,,, 400 modified 6500rpm =220 ,,,,,400 12.5 to 1 .CR 7000rpm =227 head
To rectify this if I had directly purchased they would have swapped them . BuT I purchased thru an agent [this service is not available because my purchase was done this way ]

Their prices are comparable to other manufacturers such as Brodie, Frankenstein, TF…..if you want spectacular heads from any reputable company that stands behind their product, you have to pay from any company.
