This is a great map. One word of advice though, you seem to create entire continents of one or two biomes. If there's a story reason for that, then cool, otherwise it doesn't make much sense when you think about the giant scale that countries and continents occupy. For example if you're familiar with the US, Florida is very distinct from Texas, which is very distinct from Oregon, so on and so forth. I think if you're going for a geography grounded in realism it would do a lot to vary each landmass more, possibly with smaller repeating biomes rather than giant one-of-a-kind deserts, plains, jungles etc.
That's honestly an extremely valid point. Usually I compensate this by just showing on the map "green, tundra, desert" etc, but then whenever exploring the world distinguishing the different locations and scenery as we go. But yeah, it would add a lot more to the map to take the time to separate the smaller differences.
Yeah... but the US isn't the only country in the world, having a giant one-of-a-kind desert is very reasonable to have considering there are multiple large deserts in the world located on multiple continents.
Loved it! Very relaxing and fun to watch. Really gave me a sense of what could be done in the program with a little knowhow and effort. If I had one criticism, it would be that the links to other videos at the end covered up our view of the finished product. Was just gifted Wonderdraft. So, I'm going to start mapping out my own fantasy world this weekend.
I'm honored I apparently fall in the "good cartographer" category. But the majority of my approach is trial and error, never be disheartened when your first attempt doesn't pan out.
@@twowheelsusedtabletop8205 I saw in the vid, what i do a lot. Reimagining. I improvise a lot and if something comes in my mind i just delete even a big part to try the new concept.
I want to become as good as you are at map making. Could you please give me the name of the extra Wonderdraft packs you used on this map please? Thankyou in advance!
I just found your Chanell, i like making fantasy maps and my own places, i usually hand draw them, i think i will get this software soon! I subscribed.
Is there a higher resolution download than the one on Imagur in the description? I've been trying to find a map for a seafaring based campaing and your design is amazing and would suit perfectly for what I have planned/written
I am looking for someone to make a map for me. I have designs on paper, but I just don't know how to use Inkarnate or Wonderdraft well. Do you know of any people or groups I can go to to see about them making me a detailed map?
I mean it depends a lot on what you're printing on, and what "equipment" you're using. For a standard printer, on office paper 1080p would probably be fine. But if you're sending it off to get printed you'd want to look at the pixel density (PPI) which most people recommend having 300 DPI(PPI).
This is a VERY satisfying video.
Beautiful display of your talents and the incredible power of this software. Well done!
so glad this video was recommended to me, this software looks cool as hell
So happy the algorithm brought me here! Your channel seems like a goldmine, cheers!
Welcome aboard!
Thanks, for sharing, I used your work steps for creating my own World Map, it helped a lot!
Glad it helped!
Very cool map, especially considering the short time it was made in. Impressive map building skills!

Well looking at the size this seems more like a small continent rather than several.

It's reassuring to see that even a good cartographer uses quite a bit of trial and error when working. There's hope for us all!

I wish I had the patience to hand draw maps, but technology has spoiled me. :P
So nice :) thank you! One question plz, does wonderdraft give you option to export your map for use in Fantasy grounds?
What are the hex codes for colours you used to paint the land?
The background song sounds like that one song by The Fat Rat

Here is a 6k version for you. Glad that it will serve an actual purpose in a game!
