R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman...You are truly missed!
(And a big hats off to Gary Holt. One of the only musicians that could honorably stand in for Jeff!)

Why would you even bother trying to get a slayer crowed to be quiet
To give a moment of silence for Jeff? The fucking dead guitarist of the band itself? Not that much to ask for and he deserves it.
@@swiiiish Jeff would of wanted the crowd to go hard in the pit not be fucken silent
@@wizard2755 yes for two hours, its a fucking slayer show. But asking for sixty seconds of silence for a dead legend THAT WAS A CRUCIAL FOUNDATIONAL MEMBER OF THE FUCKING BAND YOURE LITERALLY THERE TO SEE isnt too much to ask.

@@wizard2755 yes, its been documented in several videos that that was what was happening at that time. What other logical reason would Tom Araya have for trying to silence a crown of rabid Slayer fans? You ever seen anyone else do that at a metal show? Now I see why he chose to retire 😳
Well they said Slayer was more a business than a camaraderie partway through their career and Jeff dying sealed it. Tom pushed it further than he probably should have after Jeff's death. However, I respect him for it cause the Charlotte and Atlanta shows on their farewell tour were awesome.
@@alexbrannon I'm glad they at least finished with a good, solid album
Yeah with all the bulshit like that that comes with the shows that you have to deal with but it wasn't only just that... you want to see something that will probably help you understand one of the main reasons that Tom didn't want to tour or perform anymore? Watch as much concert footage that you can way before he had his spinal surgery... then watch all the concert footage after Tom had the spinal surgery...!!! Tell me he wasn't unhappy up on that stage. He went from head-banging All Those Years cuz he talks about it and interviews that's what he loved to do the music made him do it. So when you go from one extreme to the other which is the one extreme that you love to do being taken away from you that you can't do it anymore that's going to change your way of Performing it's going to change your performance and I knew it I could see it I can tell that he was just done with it all !

I just hope he enjoyed the most recent show they did at Madison! The videos gave the impression he was having a good time!
I missed that show and drove my ass to Columbus for the next show. It was great.

I saw the South of Heaven tour and he stopped the concert because the crowd broke the barrier that was in front of the stage. He bitched at everyone for about five minutes.

Me: *Impossible*
Every metalhead needs to see slayer once..
My stepfather took me to see the original line-up in 2007 when I was in the 9th grade. I remember when their set was over, we were walking in the hall, and I turned around to a dude with a giant, bloody welt on his forehead. He locks eyes with me, and says 'Chemical Warfare is the fuckin best!' and walks off. Their music just does crazy shit to people, myself included. Talk about crazy energy. They were and forever will be one of the greatest, if not the greatest.

"SILENCE"
@Ryo-lence maybe he wanted a minute of silence for jeff
@Ryo-lence a moment of silence for Jeff
I've been to most Slayer shows in the Las Vegas area including when Slayer played The Huntridge Theater prior to the Divine Intervention album (Tom told us they were trying out their new drummer (Paul Bostaph) and some new songs too. This mini tour was only 10 gigs but they followed it up with a new D.I. album and a hugh tour with Machine Head & Biohazard. Anyways every single show Tom would say something like "Throw whatever you want, but dont throw anything onstage. If it hits one of us, that's the end of the show. We'll walk off and that'll be the end of it." and he ment that too. No one threw anything onstage and Slayer played complete sets here..
Slayer were the best live band around. Their energy would hit you and you could feel it in everyone around you too. The crowds energy would be sent right back to the band & Slayer responded with more enery being sent out. It was alomst a religious experience with the crowd feeding Slayer our energy and them returning it amplified with theirs.
I have never felt this "energy exchange" from any other band. After the shows, you were sore from yelling, singing along & moshing but you never felt robbed of your energy. Most people, even those who do not really appreciate their music, (like I do) would experience this free exchange of energy too. Slayer were the greatest live band because of this. Even if you weren't the biggest fan of them, there was no denying that at Slayer concerts Ylyou could feel the music.
Peace
Say that again please
@@jerkyboy8897 which part lol.
I was really rambling, WOW!
So Slayer have always been my favorite live band and I went on about how the energy at Slayer show "felt" to me and to other people I've talked to about their vibe. They really knew how to get a crowd goin.
What I was "trying" to point out is that even at a Slayer show I remember from back in 93, at a small venue (roughly 500 people), Tom would talk to the audience telling us "Don't throw shit onstage, cause if it hits one of us, were gone" and "we came out here tonight to show off our new drummer and play a few new songs for you guys before we head out on tour" or something to that effect. Tom always talked to the audience moreso than other bands, but never political stuff. I've never seen him as insistant like this video shows. Yeah, he's pissed off for sure..
I got off topic more than a little bit and for that I appologize. I was feeling nostalgic and I kept typing out my thoughts. That's never a good idea, especially on a public forum, right?
In conclusion, dont get old. You may start doin the same as I did. LOL
Peace
2:22 did he just literally fucking kick someone off stage?

I was at Tattoo the Earth in Lawrence, KS in 2000. Sometime that afternoon some dude broke a water pipe open and water ran all over the ground about 20-30 feet back from the stage, dead center.
It turned into a huge mud pit, and of course idiots started flinging mud at the stage during the Sevendust set. Then Slayer takes the stage and someone nailed Tom Arraya right in the face.
Never seen a performer so pissed before. I think he walks off the stage if Jeff didn’t convince him to finish the set.
Then Slipknot headlines and Corey taunts the crowd into throwing every thing they got at him 😂
In fucking laughing so hard because all you can hear while Tom is standing there is like 50 different people yelling "SHUT THE FUCK UP! BE QUIET!" and in turn creating all the noise. This species makes me fucking howl sometimes!!!
Slayer was banned from New Orleans because their fans destroyed one of the venues they played in , I can't remember, which venue it is. Of course Jane's addiction Fans destroyed the Saenger theatre a few years earlier in New Orleans. This was an old theatre in Jane's addiction had no business playing there and this was the fault of The production company that put on the show. Jane's addiction fans were responsible for ripping up bolted down chairs and destroy a beautiful old organ, along with other things. Yeah I would be pissed off If our loyal fans destroyed a place that we played & then Get us banned from the city, that aint cool. I mean that puts the band in a real bind with that city when your fans destroy a place in then The band has to take the heat for it. Then you can't play there again for a long time that was the case for both of those bands in N. Orleans. Real shitter. I think this happen to slayer Back around the same time maybe a few years later than the incident with Jane's(early 90s)...... I think it happened to slayer in the state palace theatre in nawlins but I could be wrong. Regardless both bands were banned from New Orleans for a long time. It sucks for everybody when something like that happens. But whoever's producing the show needs to have a venue that can contain rowdy fans like that And not have it in a place That has any kind of historical value or relevance. I don't know about Jane's addiction but I know slayer is still banned from New Orleans. No matter, they are retired now.
man, Slayer has played New Orleans at least twice since 99. When did they get banned?
